Pretty sure they've said they don't want to make another direct btd game, they want 6 to be it. They've spent literal years working on the map editor. They seem to enjoy putting out new content still, too. Eventually new units/heroes may slow down, but I think they'll keep updating it with new bosses and stuff.
Started playing a month ago since I loved the prequels, crosspathing and the dynamic maps with moving elements/sightlines are really neat but having to unlock maps and challenges one at a time feels like an absolute slog. Why can't they just open up Deflation/CHIMPS/etc. as soon as you beat a map for the first time?
doing all the medals builds up monkey money and familiarizes you with the map, plus CHIMPS actually makes the rounds more difficult, which is why a strat that beats easy might not beat hard
AFAIK I'm already playing with CHIMPS rules for the most part (hard, no farms/merchantmen/etc., no selling towers, no leaked bloons, only the 10% monkey money boost for knowledge) - are there other changes to bloon spawns/health on CHIMPS that'd make my solutions no longer work?
chimps goes to round 100. The only other mode that goes that far is impoppable, which has higher prices than hard/CHIMPS and might have slightly faster bloons too.
CHIMPS changes statistics of some rounds, and increases MOAB health. along with powers not working, an impoppable strategy is not necessarily going to also beat CHIMPS

no it doesn't, at least not directly. All rounds after 80 have scaling bloon health and new ceramic rules but that's not exclusive to chimps, it happens in all game modes.

The issue is that there's no discovery. The game has no means of you to learn what each tower does and how to use them because it gives the player nothing. The only way to git gud is to do homework outside of the game by either reading wiki's or copying other peoples strategies. And even then once you know the towers you find out that there's simply objectively better combinations then others and if you want to win some of the harder maps you are almost forced to win them. You lose your sense of joy for winning because you're just doing what someone else told you.
