She looks way more natural in that pic. I feel like they tried to go way too hard into the supermodel angle with later games while also trying to make everything appear more realistic.
Looking at her DOA6 counterpart she really does not look anything like how she used to which some of it is understandable because she's older but it still feels like a total face change.
Most girls in DOA6 look pretty bad honestly. The problem is while 5 tried to go with a more realistic appearance it seems like DOA6 tried to go with a combination of the two. 5 seems more realistic but the older games capture the anime like features better. In other words the style of DOA6 pleases no one. Doesn't help that every girl except Honoka got her breasts nerfed.

People complained in 5 but 6 was really where the issue became more apparent. As for DOA4/XBV I disagree as you can see how big she is relative to her size of the rest of the cast. The complaint that people have is while Ayane is on the shorter side of the cast, according to Tecmo she is supposedly the character with the second largest chest. Further digging into the files of DOA6 found that Tecmo was lazy and simply used Kasumi's mesh for Ayane which is why her breasts are smaller and similar in size to Kasumi. It showed that unlike DOA5 Team Ninja was even too lazy to give the girls individual body meshes. If you want to look at the actual breast sizes of the girls then you would have to look at their X3 models.

Pretty much the case, just a few body shapes and such. It's a homonegized gacha game through and through. There is no real gameplay like the other xtreme games.

There's only 3 really distinct meshes that are shared between characters. A standard body that most girls have, the Honoka with bigger breasts used for her and Sayuri, and the flatter body that is shared between Marie, Kanna, and the like. They are each edited some between characters for height and bust size but generally when they design a new character they design it based on one of those three archetypes. Standard, short and flat, or short and busty.
I think with the DOA models it's that more detail is actually worse. You can kind of see it with the Blender vs. SFM models; the SFM ones look great because they hover right in between stylized/anime and realistic. Then you take a Blender model of Kasumi and throw a realistic skin texture on her and she just looks subtly off because it's *too* detailed and messes up the core styling of the character.
I think DOA6 suffered this to some degree as well, where the models are probably technically better but somehow look worse, alongside them randomly changing proportions like they always do.

The new look is a definite improvement, especially for the western characters like Helena or Christie, they actually look like human beings now while still idealized and anime-ish, instead of blow up dolls.

Today games like this can barely even get funding at all and the companies who used invest big on them are now more than happy to coast on some minimal level shovelware level.
Even with xtreme 3 as much as my dick enjoys it I swear to god the lighting and models looked better in DoA5 and seeing how popular Beach Paradise mods still are I'm probably not the only one. Some of them look like they have balloons for breasts compared to their fighting game counterparts.
I also remember thinking Soul Calibur IV was the peak of how good those games could look, and VI looks pretty still but even on max settings at high resolutions some of the textures are muddier presumably due to how little funding the game got.

Many people do, and would buy stuff like this as long as the art was official. While there may be nothing valuable in buying stuff from some literal who artist drawing Chun in a swimsuit. If it is done by the lead designer/concept artist of the game then it would be considered official artwork and collectors would love to have it.
How much more official can you get than "Licensed by Capcom"? It's not like Udon are a doujin company, they also make the Street Fighter comics. And they do hire artists that have worked on the game. Bengus has done art for these specials and he's the guy who did all the SF5 character/story art.
