No, because Deferred Rendering has been standardized, and nu-AAA devs are already wasting too many resources on pointless trash like npc facial hair simulations, since they can't into hand-crafted art.

This is what zoom zooms actually believe?

        Anonymous

why does Deferred Rendering necessarily equate to not having clear and sharp visuals?
it's literally just using a G-Buffer as a means of reconstructing a subset of all potentially visible geometry, into a texture of definitely visible geometry, to reduce the burden of having to do expensive fragment operations on fragments which will never be seen
by itself, it does nothing to change the visual fidelity of the final image

Maybe if you didn't believe the "muh 1080p is all i need" the visuals would look sharper on a resolution not from 15 years ago. But OH NO you might not hit 300 giga frames boooo frickiing whoo do you make things happen or do you follow?

I have 4K screen and usually have no problem playing 1080p games with integer scaling. If older game has no UI scaling, I just play at 1080p instead of 4K without problems.
In fact I use 1080p as operating system's resolution, because Windows DPI scaling is too blurry for me.
FF7R is an extraordinary example of game being way too fricking blurry at 1080p.

You need TAA for any decent image quality. There's virtually zero blurring side effects at 4k but you morons think 1080p is all you need so you can jerk off playing RDR 2 at 200 giga flops. Because that's really important!

Your resolution is 15 years out of date and you wonder why the game is blurry. Anybody could very easily run anything at 4k60 if they lower the settings BUT I NEED ULTRA BECAUSE MY EGO!!! Black person either compromise your graphics or upgrade your hardware or play games at 30 fps because you aren't getting good graphics, high resolutions, and good performance on your shit pc and you're just gonna have to live with that. There's nothing wrong with TAA or modern graphics it's poor gays and framerate nerds and muh ultra egos.

      >1440p
fricking lol "why is my game blurry" gee I wonder
      >older titles that didn't rely on TAA

      Anonymous

Nah, you can thank Zoom zoom devs succumbing to shitty, noisy shading and transparency effects that would've looked embarrassing even on PS2, together with the Deferred rendering and 10 Mil polygonal characters with 8x 4K textures making MSAA and especially SSAA unusable.

It's just sad that instead of practicing old and proven basic optimization tricks + good artisty, these XboneX era hacks instead succumb to restoring 1980s shit like Dithering.

        >and especially SSAA unusable.
I downscale from 4K all the time on my computer because I have a 1440p monitor but a beast GPU. Only poor people can't use super sampling. That said, I do think the best version is to downscale from 4K and using DLSS at the same time, so you actually render at 1440p, DLSS it up to 4K and then display that on a 1440p screen. Better performance and image quality compared to regular super sampling

        >succumbing to shitty, noisy shading and transparency effects
they exist precisely because TAA blurs it and the entire image to shit.
I do think deferred rendering is the right step forward and what we lack is a good modern AA solution

you've been reposting this image but it's a dishonest comparison since RE2 already comes with its own sharpening filter so the right will look always looks sharper and worse for that matter.

You're not playing games at 4K 60 FPS unless you buy a GPU that costs several times what a console does, and even then you'll often need to use "cheats" like DLSS. This is unfeasibel.
        >inb4 stop being poor
Vast majority of people playing games are poor, that won't suddenly change, Black person. They implemented all this shit fully knowing that most people will have a blurry, vaseline smeared mess for the image.

I'm playing on 1440p actually. Modern games still look like shit and are blurry messes compared to older titles that didn't rely on TAA and other bullshit. Some games implement TAA better than others and are pretty fine, but some like RDR2 are just fricking unbearable.

the gist of what you're saying is true. I always turn off DOF, any kind of blurring, and even SSAO sometimes but it's been getting pretty bad lately because the new games are designed with all that shit turned on and if you disable them it's very obvious

No. TAA is the only AA method that renders good looking hair or small meshes, the only downside is a blurry image but that's a non issue when this generation of consoles is going beyond 1080p
so don't expect those post-process filters to ever go away when every game is aiming for photo realism.

I hope to get a CRT again, as soon as I've emptied my desk again, but I'll also need a GPU to drive it.
