They used artists who ape his style for spin-offs and other things, there would no issue for them to do that for mainline in the future. Hell there's fan artists who can mirror Toriyama way more faithfully than his official successor Toyotaro.
That's what Toyotao was for. Unfortunately it seems like he doesn't want to do it now without Toriyama's input, which was the whole point of training him to begin with. If Dragonball AF is any consideration, maybe it's best it just ends.

Bird Studio has already been doing a majority of non-key art for the games. The marriage pictures in XI, for example, are Bird Studio art, not Toriyama art. A lot of the monsters are not done by Toriyama anymore, key art for spin-offs beyond base designs and the covers weren't done by Toriyama, etc.
The pipeline is only changing in that they need to ascribe certain staff within Bird Studio to higher roles that Toriyama would've taken.

Toyotaro is not in consideration for this at all. He is an employee of Shueisha, not Bird Studio. He has nothing to do with Dragon Quest and has never worked on art for any of the games, unlike the staff already present at Bird Studio who have been assisting and contributing for decades.
Toyotaro was explicitly chosen among staff already working on Shueisha's Dragon Ball projects to do art for the V-Jump comicalization of Dragon Ball Super. Nothing more. The "chosen successor" talk is merely in regards to how he was chosen, out of staff employed at Shueisha, to draw the Toriyama written DB sequel (unlike works such as SD DB, DB Heroes, or the various one-shot manga DB had received up to that point).
If anything, nothing about DQ's production will truly change as I doubt there will be a DQXIII now that two of the three creative leads are dead. There's a chance, but there definitely won't be a DQXIV beyond that.
This basically negates Toriyama and Sugiyama's direct contributions as they weren't as involved with spin-offs made after the turn of the century, those games typically recycling already present designs and any new designs would typically be done by Bird Studio as they were generally iterative (i.e., new monsters based on old monsters, younger versions of characters, that kind of thing).
I can't put my finger on it but Toyataro's art feels like such a superfiial imitation to me. It resembles Toriyama but there is no actual weight or feeling behind the drawings. It's sterile
>DB by Murata >adds sexy b***hes, they do nothing but appear on opening page pin ups >draws a moronic arc completely out of touch that drags forever >gets told that he went full moron so he redraws the whole thing after a few months
And even then it would be better than anything by Toyotaro
Yes he does, somewhat. The OPM manga started out following the webcomic but because the webcomic is on no set schedule, he started coming up with his own stuff to stretch it out. His writing is a lot of the worst stuff in OPM

>dr slump >dragon ball >dragon quest >chrono trigger >last work is a failed manga
Give him a break. One man can only have so many cultural zeitgeist-defining works.
Toriyama was already a successful and established mangaka before even Dragon Ball.
Dr. Slump was enough to pretty much set him for life- a full 18 volume run, a TV anime that ran for 240+ episodes, several films, he could've retired then. During that time he also wrote several one shots that would later be collected into the moderately successful Toriyama Manga Theatre.
While Dragon Ball was running, he did several more one shots which resulted in two more volumes of Manga Theatre. He also did the short lived Go Go Ackman!, which resulted in THREE Super Famicom games being made in addition to an OVA (three other one shots of his also got adapted into OVAs, and one of them got turned into a one volume manga (Cashman)).
After all that he then started doing short run manga in addition to one shots. Cowa! Kajika, Neko Majin, and Sand Land were all intended to be one volume manga. Outside of Dragon Ball, most of Toriyama's work is intentionally short or close to being episodic, you'd know this if you weren't a moronic Hispanic.
Later on he would do the Galactic Patrol trilogy (concluding with Jaco) and Kintoki. All of these were moderately successful.
Without Dragon Ball, Toriyama would be down a couple billion, but he'd still be one of the most acclaimed and richest mangaka in Japan.
It's funny how he could have retired several times over at multiple points during his career and still kept doing shit, but in every interview/autobio comic he just talks about how lazy he is all the time.
>realizing this is close to become reality
Toriyama would be a prophet if DQ13 comes to PS6. i'll be honest, i think i'll buy PS6 and game just for Toriyama.
Depends how long Yuji Horii holds out. I don't trust a DQ game without him at the helm. Also we don't even know yet if DQ12 is going to be totally fricked up with action combat. Personally I'm fine with DQ11 being a capstone to the series with the original 3 creators. It feels like a celebration and sendoff of everything. 11 games is a good run.
I'm wonder who will even do the art for the future titles now, of if theyll switch it up and just hire a new artist with a new style

moron
Its not like his artstyle is hard to copy

murata is a good choice
also
DO NOT LET HIM WRITE THE PLOT OF THE GAME
>murata is a good choice
he sucks at storyboarding and paneling, though.
>DB by Murata

it's not like toriyama did any design in his later years that an AI couldn't replicate by simply referencing his older stuff.
Just recolor forever? You have enough monsters already.

One of the last things toriyama drew before dying was this failed manga
Kind of sad he could never make another thing be a hit outside mexican ball
>failed
it was just a short series
>dr slump
>dragon ball
>dragon quest
>chrono trigger
>last work is a failed manga
Give him a break. One man can only have so many cultural zeitgeist-defining works.
Sandland was ages ago. I think his last manga was Jaco. His last original manga was Kajika.
Toriyama was already rich before dragon ball dough

human existence is the struggle between boredom and laziness
no one calls videogames "software"
nips do, they say softo
Who else is playing the game on the 25th?
You're only allowed one hour of shitposting per day from now on. Where do you spend that time?
Cute boyfriends
>that megaretro ps6
Wonder what he thought of the PS5
Toyotaro did draw SL art once.
Do you think Sand Land will turn into power level wankery too?
So the movie and the first 7 episodes of the series both just cover the manga, right? And the series has pretty much the same animation?
DQ13 will be Switch 3 exclusive
>realizing this is close to become reality
Toriyama would be a prophet if DQ13 comes to PS6. i'll be honest, i think i'll buy PS6 and game just for Toriyama.
PS6 should be in 5 years and DQXII is literally just a title picture. And it's been 8 years since XI.
Depends how long Yuji Horii holds out. I don't trust a DQ game without him at the helm. Also we don't even know yet if DQ12 is going to be totally fricked up with action combat. >PS6 has no analog sticks
Funny how that alone dates this image
