I think it's so you can buy the game for whatever your preferred platform is and then buy the collector's junk seperate, instead of having to get a specific bundle for PS4/5, Xbone, PC or whatever.

I understand it, I've seen the Collector's edition of Watch Dogs for the 360 and SCVI for Xbone sitting on shelves years later. It doesn't make sense to pack the game in if it's multiplat, because nobody will buy the big expensive box if it's not the platform they play on. Plus how would you even know you like the game that much if you haven't played it?

*game not included* started years ago and makes an amount of sense so that they don't have to make separate playstation and PC collectors editions. Better than the alternative where CP2077 only had collector's editions on consoles so if you wanted it on PC you had to buy a second copy of the game
