I don't know what's happened recently but it really feels like the western game industry imploded in the span of a few years. It's sad to see it go, but Xbox was the face of western vidya for a while, and seeing as it's all going now, it makes sense for it to go now too. We'll always have the 360 era my sweet prince.
Yes.
They were absolutely killing it at the start of gen 7. Then its like they became moronic on purpose. Not "evil," evil has goals it wants to accomplish and work towards that. They just became dumbfrick "the 'evil' choice in Bioware games" moronic.
he will claim it was Dreamcast even though seganet was an actual ISP with their branding or try to draw false parallels with mmos

It's just a moron.
They are striving to make things even worse.

the multi-billion dollar industry that was selling peer 2 peer multiplayer was derived from an ancient addon for the mega drive. right. i'm sure this is how it was conceptualized in microsoft's back rooms. it's not their fault

Why didn't Nintendo or Sony did it? Why was only Microsoft?

Sony and Nintendo were not quite in the business of testing how much shit they can shovel into their customer's faces yet. Microsoft was doing the market research for them.

You mean not looking to ripoff their customers.

That's not my problem.
The concept of paid online services doesn't stop there, and attempts do do such a system have their origins with the Atari. Microsoft was just the first company that had the technical knowhow and resources to do it well first.

It doesn't matter if some niche peripheral for a dead console from a defunct company did it first. Contemporary paid online is the fault of Xbox. 360 sold less units than the PS3 but still made over twice the revenue solely from Xbox live subs and the other two wanted a cut of the pie. It's Xbox's fault.

Well actually paid online is xcuck's problem. Their entire business model is now trying to get you on shitty subscription services.
I am not a good writer. I meant that I knew they were evil from the start. The point of (Direct-)X-box was part of Microsoft's overall scheme to control all software, including video game software, and wanted to force Direct-X for game software outside of PCs.
So I meant that they were competent and successfully gave the illusion of being fun and charming. And despite the underhanded nature of what they were doing I still had good times playing Xbox games. I am just wondering how they just became so damn stupid and utterly destroyed everything they worked for.

I kinda want Xbox to do well again so Microsoft doesn't destroy Windows. I am duabooting Linux because I can't fricking stand Windows 11. And if Windows 12 and beyond aren't any better and the day comes I can't use Windows 10 anymore then I would rather go full Linux and get a fricking Playstation to play newer games.
no and this is good for devs since Xbox will actually be making money instead of scraping by for once.
Game Pass was a band-aid on an open wound and it's obvious it hasn't been the game changer they wanted
>only people who get value from gamepass are those who play a frick ton of games (normies buy 3 games a year and play F2P shit) >the same people who play a frick ton of games are those that actually care about owning them and buying physical >those who don't mind digital games have no reason not to just buy a PC and play on there >even then PC Game Pass is a meme because everyone HATES the Windows Store >Japanese and Indie titles now have the expectation that they will ONLY come to Xbox on Game Pass, and when they do come without it nobody buys them >they can't get rid of Game Pass because it's the only reason anyone bought their box
Xbox will still exist because the multiplat money will be more than enough to prop up the hardware, but they'll probably turn the Xbox into a Steam Machine type thing anyway.
like I said, bandaid, it is profitable and it is the main reason anyone gives a shit about Xbox hardware at all but Phil himself said it wasn't growing.
in a reality where it didn't exist, is Xbox more or less relevant? Cause at this point it doesn't feel like anyone gives a shit about Xbox as a brand anymore.
>xbox was popular with normies but sucked >360 redringed 100% of time >xbone stupid brandkilling name that was also bad >series a/b also moronic names and games sucked
what a sad existence, even sega will be more fondly remembered
>Sony but worse
No.
I'll miss their existence because it kept snoys in check. Not their actual output though.

>Xbox will be gone in two more weeks.
Miss what? Xbox Game Pass is the best thing to happen to gaming in decades. Are you talking about some kind of consolegay thing?
This was the beginning of the end. Who knew that 11 years later, Xbox would go third-party.

did gamepass kill xbox then? or would they have just died sooner without it?
