Functionally it literally is still Demon's Souls. Like, if you just want to play the game, it's the exact same code. Artistically, I agree. I don't appreciate what they did.
There are a lot of "Soul" vs "soulless" collages that I think are kind of nitpicky, but I 100% agree with this. These people didn't understand Demon's Souls. This image mentions Diablo, and Elder Scrolls, but I also feel like there's a lot of Doom 2016/Eternal in the demon designs. They look too inherently evil, rather than alien, and weird. The Vanguard Demon is the perfect example. You look at him from a distance, and he's pretty generically scary. But up close, he's dopey. Buck teeth. Wide, round eyes. Shitty little wings. The remake is something Doom Slayer would ram into.
Granted, in general, it's gotta be a nightmare to remake a Souls game, cause every little details probably has meaning to it. It's just how the series works.
The arena of Flamelurker shows Shitpoint fundamentally misunderstood the whole theme of Demon's Souls.
Look at shit, apparently Boletaria was full of schizos designing their temples to resemble Diablo dungeons
It's what happens when your job is to update areas without a cohesive vision or understanding of what the overall intent is. With later and later remakes- DeS being a seventh gen game, "technical limitations" stop being an excuse for every a lot of visual things were done, and then it just becomes not understanding art direction.
Someone was probably assigned 2-2 to update, and their mind went to, "how do I amp this up to 11?" Not understanding why you should crank it down to maybe a 5. It's the same with Boletaria. "Dude... LET'S MAKE THIS AS EPIC AS BLOODBORNE!" When the city's visuals were referencing specific medieval architecture.
Don't even get me started on the music. Yeah, let's take an already fully orchestral score, and just make it BIGGER. More choir! MORE!
If it gets a PC release, I think it'll have some kind of legacy. I know you can run the PS3 version in an emulator, but nothing beats having a Steam release, especially for multiplayer.
Frick 5-2
OG DeS was meh and so is the remake, one is better off playing Dark Souls or Elden Ring instead
I don't think I've ever heard anyone mention it after Elder Ring was released. If anything Bloodborne gets more attention than it.
Only morons claim Bloodborne to be the best entry
Just like the Morrowind homosexuals who are ODing on copium hoping for that “remake” or “remaster”
I wouldn't call it the best, just more prominent.
Still to this day it's the only PS4 game I've played despite owning the console.
For all the actual massive blatant flaws that Bloodborne has and get constantly overlooked, it still is a far better game than DeS or DeS remake
>Bloodborne better than DeS
Hand me over whatever you’re smoking
>Remake of an overglorified tech demo which fricks up the only memorable things about it (OST and art style)
>Winning anything
Elden Ring on PS5 alone sold better than this cash grab
>doesn't greentext
>believes in the console war
Back to Re-ddit.
I like all the Souls games, and appreciate Miyazaki essentially carrying 1.5 game generations on his back. 🙂
This is NOT a Miyazaki game
This is Pastiche, Fraud, Imitation, Ersatz...

Demon's Souls had an artbook and they just completely fricking ignored it.
Why would I play this when my PC can play the original at 120fps?
Can you morons get over these games yet
I wish you could enable the old OST, because holy shit the new one ruined half the songs.
It's great how no one talks about game. It's legacy will forever now just be old man has less pointy sideburns.

Is it still 70 bucks?
It's 50% off right now.
