my problem with SBMM is that it's a little too fricky with team games. i could be mediocre to decent in one or two games and that would be enough for the game to think i'm good enough to single-handedly carry a team of mouth breathing morons to victory against seal team six.

It's called honeymoon period. New shinny update gets released, a couple of months later and dead game again and Titanfall community will go back to praising Titanfall 3 and shitting on Apex players who majority of them don't even know Titanfall 2 exist.
Why blame the good players rather than the game itself for enabling that behaviour? The truth is that the publisher killed the game. They want people playing their more monetizable games.
The game is at fault for having such a high skill ceiling that players with 1k hrs played can completely dominate new players that they straight up quit the game. They're definitely going to nerf that in a future Titanfall 3 game

It's the same reason people no longer play arena shooters. The fluid movement and hitscan weapons means very experienced players can kill you from the other side of the map before you realize what happened. Nobody enjoys that, so people leave quickly
COD is a popular game because the skill ceiling is much lower and experienced players cannot dominate nearly as much. They won't nerf T3 that much, but they'll probably nerf it a bit

Ronin main here, Tone is for homosexuals but Ronin is specifically one of the Titans with the lowest HP and that should inform your strategy. Many people take the dishonorabu path of leading a suicide run with Nuke Eject but the better way is to be a constant menace magdumping into people from behind then vanishing the moment anyone turns to shoot you like the ninja you're supposed to be. It has some of the highest consistent burst damage output so you must be doing something very wrong or only ever going up against Legions and Scorches to think you're not doing damage. The flowchart you want to follow is: sneak up on someone, Arc Wave, blast them, Phase Dash through them when they turn to shoot you for safe reloading to shoot again, then dash out of there blocking if necessary or just use the Phase Dash to get out early. When it says "hit and run" it means it, and as long as they have to constantly fear that some c**t will show up and shred their health even if you're not there you're doing your job.

I generally ran with Thunderstorm, it adds much more flexibility in approaching since you can add the second one after Phase Dashing to either keep them pinned down or stop them from chasing you. It can even be convenient for stopping pilots if one happens to be a nuisance and since you have two waves it's less of a commitment. Temporal Anomaly is good too since more Phase Dash makes escaping dangerous scenarios more safe, the important thing to keep in mind is any scratch you take is a gaping wound and as much as you might want to stay in swinging the sword to kill something you have to be patient, only committing to an execution. Similar logic is why I also go with Turbo Engine, speed is life.

The game was abandoned in under a year, half of its problems were fixed with Northstar (which, surprisingly, is now fricking defuncted by just fixing the game (these problems were poor tickrate, making every gun projectile, some balance here-and-there))
Very little thought was put into practically ANY of the game/combat itself, the maps are fricking dogshit in comparison to Titanfall 1, Ronin's sword-block gives you a flat 90% damage reduction, the CAR eases combat to the extreme, and shit is just fricking stupid at times with people doing shit with autoaim by plugging a controller in.
Gleam past all the bullshit 'love' for the game and go ask /tfg/ their honest opinion about WHY it always dies out fast, and WHY they always come around when it revives.
Is it unique? Yeah, it is. Does it have interesting tech you only find out by playing with others? Yeah, it does - your energy bar on Ion completely refills if you get out then back in, for example.

Back when EA/Respawn were trying to turn Titanfall into a tentpole franchise, they had a bunch of games planned other than Apex dependent on T2's success. When it got eaten alive by Battlefield 1 and Infinite Warfare, those planned games were cancelled and a bunch of chink contractors who were hired to begin were unceremoniously let go, which is where a lot of people assume the hacker came from.
Over the course of 2018-2019, T2 started facing massive disruptions starting with streamers getting targeted by false log-ins that would boot them from multiplayer shortly after they joined a match and would eventually scale up to full, effective DDoSing the official servers such that it was unplayable for years.
Respawn was unable to stop this from happening at all and at some point, the community came forward with a campaign to save the game led by someone claiming to be an ex-Respawn employee who could fix everything if he was just given access to the source code. As proof, he fricked with Apex and changed the log in screen to an ad highlighting this campaign, which probably should have been a red flag. It was the same guy. Obviously its unclear what happens next and Respawn has never admitted to actually playing into this guy's hands but everyone assumes they did and a massive data breach occurred. They delisted T1 from stores shortly after.

The people who are good at the game are so insane that if you are a new player, you are gonna get fricking stomped.
It doesn't matter that much at the moment because the amount of people who are able to dominate lobbies isn't that high compared to the massive influx of people.
However, as time goes on the amount of new players will get smaller due to a new FOTM game so the issue will become more and more apparent and the game will probably die again.
