its genuinely bizarre how hesitant GF is to buff Pokemon that have proven to be complete shitmon after years and years of experimentation and attempts to use them when they are perfectly fine with introducing busted new Pokemon every generation
I totally get that powerful new Pokemon will sell games but they clearly want competitive to be a big esport and more team variety makes it much more interesting to watch for casual audiences that dont give a frick about mild EV tweaks and movepool variations on the same 10 Pokemon
You're unfortunately right because everything is led by marketing. And because of marketing, Game Freak would rather push out new Pokemon with OP shit than to buff weak Pokemon.
And I wouldn't be surprised if all the shit the community constantly threw at Meganium for the past 25+ years was taken as gospel by Game Freak resulting in them never bothering to make any changes to the Pokemon, since to them that would enrage people leading to accusations of "how dare Game Freak give a Pokemon no one likes something good when <popular Pokemon> could have got that same thing?". Also the ever so predictable "why use Meganium when <strong Pokemon> does <new thing Meganium got> better?" as if they didn't ask for Meganium to have said thing for many years now. You know that's exactly what will happen when Meganium gets Pollen Puff.

Meganium needs a signature move as OP as Matcha Gotcha or Victory Dance to be a tad relevant.

Its current hidden ability Leaf Guard blocks non-volatile status and Yawn, but only during harsh sunlight.
Flower Veil does that at all times, throws in a Clear Body effect, and extends to your allies if they're Grass type.
It still needs more beyond that, but both it's a direct upgrade to its existing ability and something Meganium benefits more from than any of the Fairy types that can't apply it to themselves.

Flower Veil would be amazing on Meganium since it also works on the user if it's a grass type.
But it'll never happen because it's clearly intentionally given out to non-grass types.

I'd like Serperior to finally get Superpower. Or maybe Close Combat. Leaf Storm is nice and all, but physical Serperior would be much better in doubles to fight Intimidate spam if it had the right move for it.
