With this prices I’m starting to finally think GW is overpriced. They really are going to out price new players.

They completely have. A single dreadnought is now the price of a new video game spare pocket change. Thing is, video games and other entertainments have not inflated that much (as much as people moan at £60/70 games slowly becoming normal).
When I got assault on black reach it cost me £60, which with inflation is more than £60. But what remains the same is that it's still the price of a single video game. And that came with a dreadnought.
Sure a box is not the best comparison, but I remember boxnaughts costing £25, now they cost basically double whilst in reality inflation is like 20% from back then.
It's a disturbing price. I cannot afford 3 war walkers to add into my eldar army even though my army needs them, because as a casual players £100 is stupid for 3 of those spindly old things.
>assault on black reach
Goddamn, what a box.
>Captain
>Full Tacs
>5 Termies
>Dread
>Warboss
>5 Nobz
>20 Boyz
>3 Deffkoptas, only place to get them for like a decade
>Like $100
They'll never do that shit again. Those tiny dreads dropped out of pods to melt my shit so many times.
There are people who buy GW product and it just sits in the cellophane, never painted, never played. Best customers ever as far as they're concerned. Can't complain about the game if you don't play it, clearly not concerned about the price. Maybe they do the same thing with their paint line.
>There are people who buy GW product and it just sits in the cellophane, never painted, never played. Best customers ever as far as they're concerned.
This is every miniatures game, and honestly every tabletop game in general, it's the black eye of the industry that it basically only survives due to purchases that end up collecting dust on a shelf having never been played.
What's up with that? The idea of having unbuilt stuff is beyond me. Unpainted sure, but I wonder what people who buy boxes of stuff while already saddled with unopened stuff.
>MFW i got a free box of this that was only missing 2 termies and a flamer marine

did somebody say pile of shame??
> brits have the GAUL to whine about price
> when the rest of the world pays WELL above fricking exchange rate, subsidizing the fricking bongs
Why don't you frick off and die?
nta but just because GW is more expensive elsewhere doesn't mean UK prices aren't also excessive
if you dislike GW prices what the frick are you doing attacking fellow hobbyists?
profoundly moronic
I'm attacking cuck bongs.
Just like a lazy hypocritical brit, whine oh woe is me will they are robbing others
I don't care whether you're an GankerBlack person or one of GW's beaten housewife hobbyists, either way you're an utter dumbfrick
Are you fricking moronic? They're being robbed from too, and they're entitled to complain.
>> brits have the GAUL to whine about price
People like that are diamond dozen.
>brits have the GAUL
But anon, we don't own central Germany or its peoples
Yet.
Man, I can't live like that. Waste not want not has been drilled into me by my grandparents, that dustbowl mindset. I used to save the sprue to make hedgehogs. That's addictive personality stuff, that's why I dropped Magic.
I think it's a combination of FOMO, procrastinating, and time management. I don't buy minis I know I won't paint and use, even if they're really nice. It's a time intensive hobby and I think people overestimate how much time they really have.
Great deal anon. Best I got was Betrayal at Calth for $100. 30 Marines, five Terminators, a contemptor, and two HQs.
>Yet.
The Empire will rise again. Soon, fellow Britanon
>I used to save the sprue to make hedgehogs.
I used to make rubble with it
De Galle of those Frenchies
Gaul was France numbskull, Germania was Germany
Video games have rampantly deflated. New NES games were 70$usd. Current triple a games go for that much and you have the ability to wait for sales. Would you wait a year for a dred to be 20$?
I think they are DAMN close. It's hard to say because inflation, at least in my country, is insane right now.
> Thing is, video games and other entertainments have not inflated that much (as much as people moan at £60/70 games slowly becoming normal).
Video games have inflated mostly in the form of DLC, microstransactions, endless special editions, and now even "early" access. It's less obvious, but it is there.
The thing you have to remember about video games is that their price goes down over time too, so if you wait a year or two after release you can pick them up much cheaper. GW on the other hand raises the price of old minis.
True. It's why I very rarely buy new video games.
In my country, new TripleA video games are about the same price they've always been, if anything they're cheaper due to inflation and wage increases. Warhammer on the other hand has tripled in price.
Multiple infantry kits have bloated up to nearly double their original prices. Back in the bronze age a box of 8 genestealers cost 25$. Now it’s 55$ for 10.
Frick man, the Bloodbowl lizardman team was something I bought on Ebay for 25$ in 2019 and now the frickin’ thing is double that. It’s been 4 years, tops.
The only winning moves are to
A)Get a 3D printer
B ) Play the long con and spend years slowly accumulating kits found for cheap on Ebay or FB marketplace, which means combing these sites daily.
C) Find literally any other tabletop game.
If nothing else, GW’s paradigm shift to turning Warhammer into one multi-media franchise pipeline down into complete and utter paypiggery means that if you start a commission business, your entire target audience will soon be exclusively idiots with more money than sense.
You can also play a low unit diversity army and dupe everything via your own recasts but that's usually time consuming
A squad of 10 tactical marines went from $30 to $60 in 10 years
Been doing A) and B) options for a while now
Printer helps to greatly cut costs to proxify shits that's either ugly and old or out of print officially
With enough patience and spare cash, one easily stock on spruces and glued models for cheaper than even in hobby stores.
>Back in the bronze age a box of 8 genestealers cost 25$
I think you mean $5
I used to work as a retail monkey for gw back when assault on black reach was the starter. I worked from then up until the release of 7th and the end times for fantasy.
Back when I worked there the stores were absolutely rammed full, as the hobby felt alive. The same shop is now basically always deserted. Yes, online sales have gone up, and retails have gone down, but I think the truth is that GWs finances are doing pretty much fine, but the hobby and community is really struggling.
They don't care about the hobby so long as one man buys one thing for one million once a year
Exactly the truth anon, whales keep the numbers going up but the hobby suffers. My local GW doesnt even have in store games, there is 0 sense of community at all
After covid all game stores got hit hard in attendance as people prefer staying home, anf if they are social, inviting friends over. It's really night and day.
Community is struggling everywhere post covid, that's not really a GW thing
Like anything other company they are compelled to make more money for the shareholders and I doubt they care if they run the hobby into the ground in 10-20 years for that.
A dreadnought is like 8 hours of fun. If you can’t afford that then good. Leave. And don’t look back, vote with your wallet and stop spending hours seething about it online. It’s the only message GW will get and it’ll help you be less pathetic. If you can figure out how to get proxies, cool, do that.
New players normally just buy a starter box, which are very reasonably priced.
They arent really. Just the edition boxes are. I dont think most combat patrols are well priced at all, and if they are viably priced you still have a problem with players never buying vehicles or walkers because they cost so much
Are they? Levithan costs more than the entry level Xbox with games
Leviathan is a two person box, why is it always the most dishonest examples with you Debbie downers? If someone just wanted to play they could start with kill team for like 40$ and build from there, or spring for an older combat patrol.
>noooo, I can’t afford a 2000 point army from day one
This is such a repeated but goofy talking point I have to assume it’s from secondaries just repeating what they read somewhere else
Xbox is compatible with the old one controller, it’s a two person console
Nintendo switch is a two person console
You and a buddy can both buy ender 3 , 3d printers , 3d print ak47 lowers or Hoffman tactical ar-15 lowers and play shoot each other for cheaper
>the thing I said was dishonest but here is an expansive list of other dishonest examples
If people wanted to buy videogames they can, war gaming is people specifically looking for something else. The point of contention here is whether or not warhammer is unaffordable. A basketball and a walk to the local park is cheaper than any of these options… what’s your fricking point besides being a Debbie downer secondary? The fact remains any kid whose parents buy him the latest console can find a way to get an army no problem. And if the hobby is too expensive for an adult with a job I’d say they have bigger problems that can’t be solved with a 3D printer.
It's still more expensive to by a new series S and a game than leviathan tho? How much do you think leviathan is?
No?
not while this is the competition
Shatterpoint is a uniquely ridiculous combo of Azmodee wanting to be GW and the Star Wars tax on everything.
>Azmodee wanting to be GW and the Star Wars tax on everything.
Doesn't hit legion anywhere near that hard, at least.
I guess, more modular and strictly cheaper to start playing full army at least. Personally find the game more fun too, but not as fun as MCP. Shatterpoint is kinda snowbally and doesn't really support the sheer gameplay variety MCP does (nor gives you many options for disengaging opponents, but that's a major plus for some players.)
What does Mr creepy pasta have to do with any of this?
Why can't I find good warhammer stuff on temu?
>50 USD
honestly if anyone's moronic enough to buy that shit at that price then they deserve to be ripped off
>cherrypicking the most overpriced of all the star wars licensed games
seems legit
it's also the most recent, so
>ARF Troopers
Aren't those Bothans?
In fairness that box is a standalone force and doesn’t require purchasing a rulebook or codex to play the game
Shatter point is also a shitty scale and is priced worse than legion
Are they really selling all 3 Dreads separate and not as a multipart kit?
Yes.
Multipart kits is something i mostly still see on xenos.
GW figure out marinegays are moronic and are willing to buy the same model again if it is taller or has a new hat.
>GW figure out marinegays are moronic and are willing to buy the same model again if it is taller or has a new hat.
They are 100 correct.
Redemptor and Brutalis do not share any sprues and are multipart kits. The ranged one I can't remember the name of, Balistus or whatever, is monopose and shares a sprue with other marine dudes, I think.
Why not sell a Dread box and inside include parts for Redemp, Brut and the new gun one? They do irl t for all the other vehicles.
>Why not sell a Dread box and inside include parts for Redemp, Brut and the new gun one?
So now you're asking for GW to design an all new multipart Dreadnought kit, to be their FIFTH kit based off of this design? (There was a monopose Redemptor model.) People are already complaining that this new Brutalis kit is too expensive, and you think people would israelite the kits they liked replaced with a bigger even more expensive one? And this new kit will replace kits for two models that just came out?
And the Primaris Impulsor mech-frame thing is also based on the same design, but shares no sprues with other models. Should this new kit also replace and build this model?
> They do irl t for all the other vehicles.
Not really. There are some vehicles that just build multiple options, like the Baneblade and Stormstrike. There were two Leman Russ kits, each with one different sprue for main weapons, that are now combined in one kit. The Gladiator tank is the Repulsor kit with one big extra sprue. The Primaris Repulsor and Repuslor Executioner kits share two sprues, with one different for each.
Look, I do get what you're saying. It would be much more convenient for the dreads to share sprues, but it's not that big an issue where each of the dread kits are mega-sellers and very beloved. The original Redemptor kit is from 2017, they probably didn't think of future-proofing it, or maybe they did. The Brutalis does have different armor bits on the legs and waist, not just different arms.
Except the only thing that’s actually different is the arms and top of the chassis. The torso and legs are the exact same and redemptor and brutalis share upper arms
i can literally print that for like 50 cents
Which is why they are raising the prices and why half this board will follow you into 3d printing. And they won't be wrong.
And this is what the hobby's final form will look like. And I fully agree with it. GW is trying very hard to stymie it's growth, but the damage is already being done. Printers are going down in price, resin as well. Minis? Yeah... In 10 years time Games Workshop will be an IP whoring company, with "games" in its name only. We're currently living in the golden age of stls and 3d prints, where if you look hard enough, you can find literally ANYTHING and no greedy corpo has laid its' muddy hands over it. If you're a hobbyist and a wargamer, there's absolutely no excuse for not having a printer bar not having a separate room to set up the damn thing. But then again, if you don't have the place, why the frick are you paying GW prices anyway, since you clearly can't afford them?
And now time for the GWcucks to lay down some cope about huffing resin fumes and/or stealing IP.
At this point personally the only models I'd buy from gw are the very specific things like eldar guardians or dire avengers which don't have prints that hit quite right. Even then it's been 7 months since I last bought some since its tok expensive to justify.
Not trying to shill for them but don't Heroes Infinite totally-not-dire-avengers scratch that itch? I'm not an eldar player but those look pretty cool and would be what I'd use.
I'd have to see them printed but those do match the real avengers enough for me to switch over so good show anon.
Check out that range, I think they had 2 waves, cramming in the aspects GW left behind. Happy to help.
Its a struggle finding the aspects printed and painted. But I can say this titan from them is amazing. It REALLY reminds me or the armourcast titan from the 90s
Personally i hate the heroes infinite stuff, they have a very 2d feel to them and are always sculpted in a way that makes modification very difficult in case you want variation in poses.
I would recommend checking out the eldar group on telegram, Fantasy cult minis do all kinds of eldar, including exodites and recently started pushing out dark eldar. There's also pring who does almost 1:1 gw style, but i prefer mixing them together, switching out weapons and helmets and such.
The whole secret society nature of 3d printing sucks the soul out of me. I dont think I have ever gotten a responce to a link request in the 3dpg.
That's because /3dpg/ is filled with narcissists high on their own farts. They had a purpose before telegram, now it's just a relic.
You mean the eldar group which has no invite link anymore after the great GW purge? That eldar group, anon?
>having a 3d printer
I dont want to get cancer.....
So buy a respirator and a negative pressure ventilation setup. It costs the same as about 2 brutalis dreads, 3 if you go all-out with a walk-in chamber like I did. Then you unlock minis that cost £0.18-£0.75 per model.
dont inhale/drink from resin bottle
buy yourself M3 halfmask with filters
open fricking window in your printing room
you are now safe to print
Marinegays have proven time and time again that they will eat literal shit so long as it comes in a cardboard box with a GW logo on the front, price has never gotten in the way of that.
>I’m starting to finally think
*doubt*
What year is this? Why does that dreadnought have knees? And why does it cost as much as battle for macragge??
GW is run poorly by moronic boomers whose mental state is pretty much always "raise the prices" not realizing if you charge normal prices for FRICKING PLASTIC then people will buy more as a result.
>BUT PEOPLE WILL HAVE FULL ARMIES, AND THEN THEY WON'T CONTINUE TO BUY MORE
Yeah but the WHOLE point of this hobby is that you're supposed to make it enticing to hobbyist kitbashers who do want to buy more, and 13yo kids getting started with their first army and keep rotating more kids in.
It's sometimes unbelievable how bad at BASIC BUSINESS BULLSHIT boomers are as a generation of entrepreneurs. No shit I'm not paying you 2000 dollars for a tabletop frickin army.
>GW is run poorly by moronic boomers whose mental state is pretty much always "raise the prices" not realizing if you charge normal prices for FRICKING PLASTIC then people will buy more as a result.
>It's sometimes unbelievable how bad at BASIC BUSINESS BULLSHIT boomers are as a generation of entrepreneurs
But one of the problems GW has with selling models right now is that they literally can't produce enough to meet demand. Many boxsets, such as the Kill-Team seasonal boxes, sell out ludicrously fast before fans can get what they want.
If GW were to follow the "BASIC BUSINESS BULLSHIT" that you talk about, then GW should logically RAISE their prices because THEIR SALES WON'T DROP.
But of course GW won't do that because that kills fan enthusiasm.
>such as the Kill-Team seasonal boxes, sell out ludicrously fast before fans can get what they want.
Because they are being bought by scalpers.
>their sales won't drop
Because they are being bought by scalpers
>because that kills fan enthusiasm
I think scalpers and people defending them online are probably what kills enthusiasm.
None of that is sales loss for them. They dgaf about the hobby or whatever. It's just sales.
Dear idiot, continue this trail of thought for a moment. If it's all being bought by scalpers, then surely this must dictate that people are buying these items at scalper prices.
Which leads us to the logic conclusion that people are willing to pay even more than the RRP that GW sells for.
Anon what do you think scalping is?
>But of course GW won't do that because that kills fan enthusiasm.
That's literally what they're doing, genius.
Also they have zero issue with "producing enough", they just purposely make shit scarce to create artificial FOMO to drive up sales.
>But one of the problems GW has with selling models right now is that they literally can't produce enough to meet demand. Many boxsets
The main reason for this is their intentional decrease in kit modularity. Primaris marines are a prime example. You can't make Hellblasters by swapping boltguns on Intercessors for plasma guns, you have to buy entire models with the plasma guns. GW thinks this will continue making them money in the long run, but making separate sprues and boxes for the same marines will strain your production capacity and logistics. The costs are already starting to outweigh the profits and GW can only blame themselves and their incompetent greed.
>The main reason for this is their intentional decrease in kit modularity.
I mean, you can totally buy old marines and give them plasma guns.
there is no point in lowering prices if people buy your product. at the same time you make it appear luxurious and not for everyone, which helps too.
>At the same time you make it appear luxurious and not for everyone, which helps too.
that works for collectables and shit like supercars, It's doesn't for a game that relies on communities requiring people. Both pokemon and Digimon card games have been growing in my area purely because they are far more affordable that magic and yugioh.
The kits aren't even designed to be kitbashed anymore. Back when most were legs, torso, arms and heads it was a simple matter to switch out parts and create unique conversions. The new models look more dynamic but as a result larger groups of them together look banal.
GW is much more profitable today than they were before. You are 180 degrees wrong. I can’t imagine having such an emotional conviction over an opinion that is so easy to prove wrong
>$80 for 1 model
>~10% of a list
>Battletech: $25 buys 4 models, 100% of a list
>Star Wars Legion: $35 buys 6 models, ~10% of a list
>Malifaux: $50 buys 6 models, ~50% of a list
>Infinity: $120 buys 9 models, 100% of a list
All those models are shit though.
so are GW lately
Legion's current hard plastic models are aces.
Literally don't give a shit about any of that garbage.
Literally don't wanna paint any of that garbage.
>How much % of an army is a dreadnought?
35% for a 500 point game.
That's like those bags of candy that have a serving size of one peanut. We know no one eating that shit is stopping at one peanut.
hahahahaha that cope is all the more hilarious after reframing your monogame gw simping into some tough guy act
500pts? it's 100% if you and your buddy are just mashing two dreadnoughts together lmao
You're were giving prices for the equivalent of 500 point games.
Like no shit 5 models for Malifricks will be cheaper than a 120 models in a 2000 points Tyranid army you rotting brained schizo.
Besides I don't give a shit if I have to pay a bit more for models that look a billion times better than the competition and models people actually care about irl and online.
wasn't giving the prices for anything I was just reading the thread and stopped to laugh at you
IP count didn't go up Gamza you samegayging moron.
>Don't pretend like you paint your shit anyway
Semantics.
nice try but I'm phoneposting from work currently, I believe you're a deperately sad enough autistic freak to keep tabs on the ip counter but you're clearly not the savant you think you are
Thank you for making your own point so poorly that it made my point look better
>Literally don't wanna paint any of that garbage.
Don't pretend like you paint your shit anyway
Historicals: $25 buys 40 models, 10-100% of a list
It's 25 dollars for 0% of a list because I want to play warhammer, not historicals. What am I going to do with these napoleonic soldiers in my tyranid army?
Use them as stand in gaunts
You're going to learn some fricking taste
shouldnt the spearmen be in front of the archers?
It's not a video game. They're skirmish troops, they skirmish.
wish the lotr minis game looked like this instead of being GW slop
>historical mass battle
>in scales above 15mm
looks like To the Strongest! which is designed with big boomer tables in mind, but frick painting all that except ad a group project, which one would expect and hope that was
so fricking what? I've got no interest in collecting tyranids myself, does that mean they sort of phase out of existence? the norn emissary and deathleaper are not overpriced because in some sort of bizarre mentally ill, extremely egocentric worldview they mightn't as well not exist because I'm not interested in them, so they don't?
Dropfleet Commander: $30 for 3 models, ~33% of a list
30 bucks for 3 models isn't the great at that scale anon, you can get 3 eldar bikes for 35, and they're bigger.
But you also need a lot more of them.
If the ability to play a game as cheaply as possible is your concern, not what the models themselves, than you can get 166% of a kill team for 60 with a box of tacticals instead.
(Or just save even more money and get Table Top Sim)
Except what you actually buy for battletech is 4 different force packs for $30 each because you can't actually buy the units you want individually.
I think i would rather endure castration than begin to interact with battletech or any of its players
i'm sure the battletech players will miss a melodramatic gw simp
Stop your whining you will still buy it.
Australians having been paying double this amount for years and are still buying shit. GW drones will b***h for a week but they'll take it in the ass either way.
How much % of an army is a dreadnought?
Why do you think they've pushed their skirmish games so heavily the past several years? With Kill Team/Warcry kicking around, GW can steadily raise prices while still having a pipeline for newer players to get addicted to the plastic crack for a "reasonable" price. They get to have their cake and eat it too.
The ridiculous GW prices helped me trim down projects to more manageable model counts and also have made me discover other minitaures companies and systems.
So frick them, more loses on them.
God damn. Thank frick that I've gotten all the minis I need for the armies I play. For most part there's maybe one or two minis I may want later but frick this.
I'm gonna be using mantic and wargames atlantics from now on even in my gw armies
It's always fun to look how wargamers bend over backwards to justify how expensive their plastic toy soldiers became. Paying more than 20 bucks for a squad? Couldn't be me.
Man, I remember when £50 got you a patrol box. I purchased my Guard starter set back then, 2 infantry squads, a command squad, heavy weapon squad, and a sentinel. The marine one had 2 tactical squads, a character, dreadnought and I think something else. £50 got you a starter army back then. These days it gets you this, a shit dread.
I'm glad I got out of gw's shit when I did. Other games are better and cheaper.
2 years ago start collecting retailed at £55 for 350-600 points value.
Now combat patrols retail at £85 for 459-600 point value. But people will day you are getting "more"
Warhammer is for everyone with money.
warhammer is for Black person rich nerds
If you are earning 40k, would you be able to afford playing 40k?
Honestly, if this keeps happening, a lot of people are going to look for Kill Team if they want to play something 40K related in the Tabletop.
Althought this benefits one game it still bad that the main game some of us love so much its getting expensive, more than when we started.
Still a good excuse to start with Kill Team
They called me a paypiggy for making a knight army WHO'S THE PIGGY NOW?
>not buying recast
>not 3d printing
>not buying second hand
>not sculpting your own minis
>not playing with rocks
>not mentalizing 40k matches without expending a single usd
If you want to pay for expensive plastic thats your choice
Just play literally any other game, the rules will be better as an added benefit.
>playing games
I've been burned trying to get both friends and LGS people into other games that I can't be assed at this point. I'll just play Kill Team.
I think killteam is going to be the most popular game soon, I called EDH 10 years ago.
Think about it:
Millennials can’t afford homes, so space is at a massive premium, a 2000 point army takes two shelves on a bookshelf more than half of your storage space.
A killteam is 6-20 models and can fit in a very small tin box with some magnets glued to the bases
$200 gets you several competitive kill teams. I personally have 4 killteam didn’t even try to gather them
Doesn’t take all day to play
You just find yourself in the position buying or trying to get your friends into group buys for Infinity or KoW or whatever, and they don't. Or they only want to play it once. Or you try to demo at the LGS and nobody gives a shit.
Frick that, play a game people will actually player - which is to say GW.
Not using a 2d printer to print pre-painted 3d proxies
i kneel
1d printed games when?
That's just a linear RPG campaign.
kekeke remind me of me and my friends starting 40k and making our tanks from paper
>With this prices I’m starting to finally think GW is overpriced. They really are going to out price new players.
Why is everyone replying seriously to an ESL thread? OP's monthly wage is likely 1/100 of the wage of the average in countries where GW sells its products.
I get /tg/ hobbies are pretty expensive as hobbies go but what is with this weird bootlicking defense of price hikes? Every time its the same shit
>price goes up
>well its not that bad because [excuses]
And then when anons rightfully complain they default to
>*sigh* well *ugh* just like get a job or something poorgay
Its not just wh40k either I see it all the time for mtg shit too
Yep, prices just went up by ~25% in my country.
They're now roughly 170% of what they were when I started playing in 7th.
It was bad before but now it's just pants on head moronic, I already barely bought anything outside of promotional boxes.
Another win for resin kings. Just printed 2k points of Orks last month, cost me around $250.
if they didnt say "you are literally not allowed to come into our store and scream "Black person" " you would be slurping gw's boots clean culture wartard
Legit question, how many people go to GW stores, instead of generic LGS?
the nearest GW to me is ~100 miles away
I went to one for a while because it was a superior experience in terms of both environment and clientele.
You're forgetting electricity costs but yeah, those prices are ridiculous.
Kicking myself for disliking the t-shirt launchers enough to not get the Agastus box when that came out, seeing how the dread is half the price of it.
in so glad I don't play any more and I just get my hobby fix from gunpla and plamo
I earn twice that in an hour, how poor are you?
>£100 an hour
What do you do and how can I get in on it?
If my envelope maths is correct that's just a little shy of 200k GBP PA which is rather close to 10 times what any job interesting enough to tempt me over to Airstrip One would pay. Indeed, looking at job listings even ones in the 100k GBP band are very rarified indeed, senior civil servants, departmental directors, etc. I doubt many people in those sorts of roles have the time to keep up with the deliberately unstable meta and constant patching GW has evolved in order to squeeze whales.
The most expensive part of the hobby is having a generously sized semi-permanent table in a dedicated room in your home. It is no coincidence for all the classless bluster posted on Ganker that the average 40k table size is shrinking, and that the vast majority of personally successful or hereditarily wealthy people I have come across in the hobby play historicals. It's a better experience all round.
True. Practically no one is earning 20+ outside of London
20 an hour? What?
What do Bri'ish people do if they aren't corporate sharks clearing six figs in London? Live with their parents doordashing for $15k?
Literally that or working £10.50 an hour at any number of pubs, retail shops or event work earning about £22k a year due to 0 hour 15 hour minimum contracts.
9/10 people who aren't doing exactly that have parents or family in an industry and can get planted in them. This can be as simple as Bath renovations to running events for wineries
Same thing in all bughives from London to New York.
No
Americans can actually make money tho.
sounds like you need to unionise.
is that the allowance you get from your dad who works at nintendo?
made a snek lad for kill team, how does he look?
wrong thread, ignore that
Very cool anon, I think CSM would get a lot more attention and interest if they just got more unique models. Maybe not though, who knows
>$80
Is this the real price for guess? No way they charge $80.
>play eldar
>haven’t bought a model since 1999
>can still run current day meta list with mostly current models
What a time to be an elf
honestly,i want to get into warhammer as i used to love doing 1/48 warplanes modeling and something that i can actually do more than just display after im done sounds kino af but well.im busted poor.
is it even worth attempting to get into it at this point at all?
It really isn't. Look into historical wargames instead, they are much more affordable.
i have, issue is absofrickinglutly noone plays them it seems.
depends
historicals are mostly based around clubs and in homes rather than stores, you could ask around at your store or search online for groups or general facebook groups for your country or region
Ganker is just 100% negativity and complaining, it may be worth it, it may not, you're not going to get an accurate picture here
The models are expensive and the game is garbage, there's zero reason to ever get into 40k.
True, but it's a nice contrast from all the GW propaganda about how their products are 'good value for money'. GW has White Dwarf and its shills, while all the generations of disaffected ex players with their squatted collections and out of date editions have this place.
100% shameless shit eating shilling and doomsissy shit like
are equally worthless so I agree with equating them but not that they have much in the way of value
Warhammer isn’t the hobby, mini painting is a hobby and wargaming is a hobby. If you just like painting display stuff you could do it extremely cheap. If you’re in the US just check out eBay
things i wanna do both model painting and wargaming. and warhammer seems to fit to a T.
if i were to im stuck between necron or tau,due to trayzin and farsight and i have no clue which is better for beginner to this shit.leaning towards tau because thier battle suits frick and their aircraft would be second nature to me to do up.wd
then try it
buy one kit or a kill team
if you have a job you can risk it
Yea I misread your comment, mb.
I’d say necrons just because I like painting them way more and the lore is better but that’s just personal opinion. But if the battlesuits are a look you really like go with that. Some of the coolest looking WH models I’ve ever seen have been Tau with a really precise paintjob.
itl take me a month or two to get the starter combat patrol box but if there's one thing im good at its making masks for airbrushing and painting,do enough RAF shit and its just second nature.if i do commit il post it here.
>Buy necron.
>Dunk necron in silver paint.
>Move onto painting your next necron.
I picked necron as my starting army and it's so boring. Pick anything else if you want painting to be a big part of your hobby.
On the other hand, necrons are pretty popular now, so you could just buy a small amount and put it on ebay if you don't like it.
Y'know, I've never actually seen a non metal Necron scheme. Gold, silver, brass and coloured metallic I've seen but never just straight regular colours aside from the rare examples on reddit or elsewhere.
seen some in black gloss with metal joints and things, looked pretty good
I have like 5 sprues of the necron royal court are those even sought after?
If you like the models than sure, otherwise no
Print your minis or get recasts. Everyone I've met in person that plays any GW system does this. I can't imagine how much money someone would spend trying to keep up by buying from GW directly and exclusively.
This hobby is for adults my children. If you can’t afford to play this game, maybe you should shut up and not play the game get a better paying job.
The game isn't even that expensive, for 80€ you get two combat patrols in the starter set.
Even the poorest of the poor can play 1k point games for dirt cheap.
That's a cope, GW has always advertised to children. And that's assuming you've internalised the Tom Kirby The Games Workshop Hobby schtick, there are plenty of models that cost far less.
>the amount of anons comparing the cost of warhammer to videogames
Who the frick cares about your videogames and what they cost? Why the frick would I buy a fricking xbox? Are you 12 years old?
I'm just a poor wageslave and that Dreadnought would cost me 2 hours of overtime at work. Then I would spend over 10 hours painting it.
I understand that the pricetag might be very important for a greytiding child but for an old man who slowly builds up his Warhammer armies for years it's nothing.
Wasn't it obvious when Cadians started to cost more than Space Wolf Blood Claws? And you need like 150 cadians. Meaning you need to buy 15 boxes of them. Which costs 750 dollars.
I have an old still in the box Battle Sister Canoness from 1997. It had it's prices in 7 different currencies in it's box. Though 3 of those no longer exist.
But one of the prices was 2000 yen. 2000 yen in 1997 is 2152 yen today. A brand new canoness.... 5600 yen.
These days I consider myself more of a painter and modeller, so I tend to shop around, not just online, and the FLGS, but also car boot sales, buying stuff from charity shops, anywhere I possibly think of to get models as cheap as possible.
I'm sure there are other anons who do as well.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if you've pay attention to the economy you will notice that in the past 2 years the value of just about every major currency halved. Halved. Your shits worth 1/2nd of what it used to be. 0.5. With that said if you hunt around for value packs then GW offers some pretty good deals, cursed city is 38 age of sigmar compatible models plus 22 extras for a board game for 155. If you want to start a soulblight gravelords army it's basically a must buy.
>With this prices
Why can't Americans grasp their own language?
Yes and its been that way since like 2019. Here's what I've spent on other wargames that are both written better and cost less than 40k by a huge margin. Including books and any extra bits that aid play
Gaslands: $60
Bolt Action: $500
Battletech: $100
All 3 of these games I have large collections for and plenty of expansion books and bits. I have enough shit for these games I could easily loan out enough models to have a 4 player game. 40k's pricing is fricking crazy to even consider when that $80 dreadnought is like 1/10 of what you need to build a standard sized army, amd you haven't even gotten the core rules and army codex yet. Dont forget your update and expansion books. Frick GW their game would still be shit even if it cost the same as the other games.
The fact that OPR even exists and is even moderately popular should be a massive warning sign that people are sick of GW rules
Why do you keep posting this thread? I hope you’re getting paid
I’m convinced GW drones need deprogramming to see that other, better wargames exist.
If they used the argument of ‘everyone plays this it’s easier to find a game’ sure but they come out with shit like
>better models
>prices are the best
>the rules are the best
>lore is the best
>the worst one, all other games are shit despite never playing a demo game
