Everyone still playing Rise is on Switch. Unlike with World where the console version had unplayable load times so the PC version was the definitive version, Rise was perfectly serviceable on Switch so when the PC version came out there weren't nearly as many upgrades. Combined with PC mods breaking the online for a while, the playerbase chose to remain with Switch rather than move onto PC.

At least at first. Both online and the Defender gear trivialize the game. The online more so if you play with randoms because they'll definitely end up with overpowered gear and end the hunt within a couple minutes. The point of steering clear of those things is to better immerse yourself in the game at lower levels so you enter the higher ranks unprepared. Learning how monsters move and how to respond, getting used to the crafting system, etc.

No. There's some seasonal festivals that they rerun every I think like two weeks now.
Some crossover event quests have been removed since launch. But those were just a themed hunt with themed armor, so content-wise it's not much. The impressive crossovers like Witcher 3 and Final Fantasy XIV are still present. Other than that, I can't think of anything that'd be missing.

No MH game to date has had actual banning.
Monster Hunter since the very first game and all the way to Sunbreak works on a simple legal/illegal check system. It's always been super easy to modify MH games and grant you broken shit, so what Capcom does is implement sanity checks. If the game detects that your gear or something else you have is "too much", it stops you from going online with it or deletes the item from your box. That's the only thing it can do.

Base World GS sucked ass, but slinger burst was a nice addition in Iceborne
Sunbreak GS, while admittedly fun and a major step up from base Rise, was ridiculously OP and I started to miss actually charging my GS after a while

It's a slow high commitment move that requires you land the first hit on a weakpoint to do any damage. While I have some complaints that it lessens the value of the first two charges, an extra charged slash is a logical evolution to GS's moveset if you aren't going to bring in the extra charges from Frontier. If you're talking about realism then the entire concept of GS is invalid.
Rage slash is better than TCS, TCS is too overpowered and it became too central to what GS is right now, I believe they should remove tackles and swap TCS for Rage slash since without tackle you won't be able to skip to the final charge and Rage doesn't overpower the previous charges

I disagree about using exclusively World's moveset, I think SnS, Hammer, Lance, Gunlance, Insect Glaive, and Switch Axe are much better with Sunbreak's moveset and MV changes(just without the silkbinds), and I do like some new moves added to GS(Surge Slash, Rage Slash), LS(Sacred Sheathe, alternative spirit combo), DB(Demon Flight),CB(new morph, firing pins), but I do think that CB and HH should be based on how it was in Iceborne and GS and LS should be more like 4U or 3U version of those weapons with maybe a few of the new moves brough back.

Rise+Sunbreak honestly would have trumped GU for me if only they actually learned from GU's style/arts mechanics instead of giving us a gimped version. The biggest thing GU did was make it so weapons had other playstyles that were viable. Aerial Switch axe was amazing as it traded some on the ground DPS potential for amazing acrobatics. Same with other styles. I really hope the series as a whole transitions to a system where every weapon has 2 styles and mix the best stuff from GU and Sunbreak to make those styles.

I started rise a couple of days ago and I've honestly been having a blast, I'm addicted ngl anons. I've also played freedom unite and mgu and they are amazing as well. I'll definitely try out world sometime as well. It's insane how much content there's out there for monster hunter enjoyers.

Every time Ive installed MH World ive used either Greatsword or Shortsword/Shield. Is using lance possible or too boring? Greatsword requires timing and knowledge, SS/S is easier to use but is a different playstyle, is lance just poke or up poke + charge?
It's timing blocks and poking, which doesn't sound fun, but when you get in the groove of it and are constantly on the monster's ass, it's one of the most satisfying and fun weapons I've used.

Mostly yes, as far as silkbinds I do think that soaring wyvern should be somewhat implement into SA's moveset since it feel so good to have a followup to ZSD, the rest of the silkbinds won't be missed much since both weapons received a lot of great changes to its moveset and MVs, same goes for weapons like SnS, Gunlance, Hammer and IG, I only want them to go back to how HH was in Iceborne

It feels godly to use it in sunbreak specially because every part of its moveset feels balanced and you have much more incentive to use the infinite combo and then go into different movest if the situation demands

I continuously kept fricking up the inputs for the backhop and missing moves left and right. sure I could sit under a monster's leg and mash the attack button to cut his ankles but that was so boring.

I haven't played Iceborne, but I also haven't played Rise. The latter is on gamepass, and if I were to play Iceborne I'd need to either buy it or pirated World+It then redo the whole game to get there. Is Rise really that underwhelming?
idk why you guys freak out about people saying iceborne, rise, or whatever is the best monster hunter game. it's one of the few franchises that has always had a consistent quality with basically minor differences between one another. it's like, when someone posts the steam numbers of rise and world idk who they're trying to piss off, i like both games lol.
mechanics are getting too complicated and it's scary 🙁
