Installed the game again to take a peek. Played 20 games and got full uptiered to be 2 tiers below every enemy ship every single time, totally unable to even fricking play the game. What a total dogshit mess, frick this game. Waste of disk space.
The fact they run ads about this game like crazy tells me they must be making even more money from the suckers who play it. I’ve never played it and this thread has shown me it’s not a skill based game it’s pay-to-win. Yes and no. It can devstrike cruisers and seriously hurt battleships if you flank correctly, but it's very fragile and awful at HE spamming. The problem is that citadel damage isn't rewarded enough experience-wise even if it's worth a lot, so grinding with it sucks.

Depends on the map and matchmaking. Most cases Sherman is probably way easier due to smoke+hydro+SAP combo. For ranked Marceau is way better if you know how to play.
Honestly both are great dds, you wont go wrong with either. Watch replays from YT
If you are under 55% wr solo player, take Sherman, it's safer. Meanwhile grind French dd line and learn it's quirks (fast dd without smoke) and save coal for Marceau. You really want to get both of them if you enjoy dd gameplay
this - also Marc and Kleber play very differently (the guns, concealment make a huge difference in gameplay) so seeing if the French line is for you would be a coal saver in general - but definitely a line you should never go for when your not an experienced dd player
nope doesnt matter, you will be hitting the superstructre most of the time and you wont get much extra bow and aft hits to make the difference you are losing on fire chance. 5 percent gets reduced to nothing if you pick ifhe since ships have inherent fire resistance. You wont see even 1 fires. Fires are the main things that kills BBs when you are spamming shells from DDs.

Better conceal in torp dds dont matter when you have better dpm, They will run away from you to not get gunned down. If you scare them away you are already at an advantage. DDs win this game, if you kill enemy dd you are more than likely going to crush that flank if you dont get destroyed in return. Also unlike torp dds you can use your guns to harass enemy BBs cruisers etc behind smoke,islands or if you have range for it even open water gunboat. A gunboat DD is far better than Torp DD if he knows what he is doing.

You'd be right if DDs didn't have to cap. Sure, gunboats don't have the potential of dealing hundreds of thousands of damage, but if you kill the enemy torpedo boat, cap and live to farm a bit of damage, you're much more likely to win than him.
torpedo destroyers to be the meta in CBT before hydro was added and torpedo speed and detectability were generally nerfed going into OBT, kamikaze is an exception, being the last more or less untouched relic from the torpedo DD meta days

CV: Midway (for divs, solo tryharding), Naki (pure dmg farm)
DD: Daring (jack of all trades), Halland (solo tryhard torp Black person - Gearing if you play in divs or wanna support team via best smoke in the game - randos in 99% cases wont make any use of it tho), Groz (free exp till 9 - tier 9 is a french DD with heal, Groz then is pretty much still one of the best "support" DDs at t10), Kleber line only when you got comfy with DDs that dont rely on heal (strong in divs, can work solo if you use your brain and dont rely on your team), Haru line but mostly for t8 Aki and t9 Kita (just great ships for solo and divs)
BB: Kremlin line is from t7 onwards busted, Yami line is still solid but you need to be the guy that doesnt max range shitter snipe everyone (learn to play at medium ranges where you overmatch everyone), as "fun" line hands down Schlieffen line (from 7 onwards just fun to play but dont expect solo carry)
Cruiser: Petro (free exp that shit line and yes since i guess have no Stalin or the steel in the near future Petro is the glue eater Cruiser), Alex (kiter line is pure tryhard and team support that just has a great kit in general), Desmo still solid (can skip this if you plan to get Salem in the future), Goliath (must free exp to Drake - frick you Marble gays its shit), if you want more HE farmers Hindi, Henry are still "ok"

Play izumo normally, its a good BB. You stay angled in the middle and shoot everyone that gives broadsides. Dont waste your FXP on skipping T9 ships unless they are exceptionally bad. Because higher tier ships give mroe base xp than low tier ones you are wasting your fxp on high tiers. Just play them normally. As for the euro line , it doesnt get good up until öster. So save your fxp to skip up until that ship.
Salem has way shittier radar and super heal instead. Their role is completely differrent. Missouri and Iowa are literally the same case. Radar changes a lot.
I don't really get how any CLs are incredibly effective when 9/10 bbs overmatch now. even if I juke and dodge all it takes is 1 shell hit to take 10% hp and if they're lucky it'll citadel too
CLs farm damage, don't take 1v1s with BBs and try not to be their primary target, either through cover or distance. Nevsky is effective because it has bullshit radar, it can hit even the fastest DDs at range, is way too tanky for its class and the medium caliber gives it a pretty good smoke firing penalty.
I'm not talking about 1v1s. if I'm firing ~15km then any bb, at the very least the one I'm firing at, is going to be targeting me. what server and times do you play that CLs are not immediately prio #2 (after dd) for every ship in the game. chip damage equates to chunks of my hp. the rest I agree with

Zao is the only "kiter" cruiser at t10 that always eats random cits when angled, pretty much the only t10 cruiser where angling doesn´t matter and the main reason non plays it beside low as frick HP pool and there being better ships (Ven, Yoshi, Henry, Hindi) that do everything better then Zao

Tldr: yoshino, despite being better armored than the azuma is still a cruiser that can do only one thing and one thing only. Sit at 20km away from enemy and throw shells while angled away from them. Your HE pen is good but your fires per minute isnt as great as you think it would be. You are the cruiser with the least game impact, because if you pretend to be a BB, you are just taking BB slot. If you try to push in yoshino you will die. You dont have the armor or gun angles for it. All the jap cruisers are shit. What you can do is wait for japanese CL line that is coming in fall this year. Otherwise stop playing them. Its not worth it.
Also dont play solo in randoms. Its just going to be suferring. If you are in EU apply for one of the clans 2DQT/HOTEL and div with people.

Dont waste your epoch camo on stupid ships like i did. You have to put the epoch camo on the ships you are going to regrind again to get research bureau points. Otherwise its going to be a total waste. DDs are mostly the preferred regrind lines so use it on them.

They are meant to get in range and brawl when the enemy team has been whittled down a bit and distracted, not in the first 5 minutes of the match when everyone is at full health and looking to wreck shit of anything in sight
When you go up tiers dont do these
1- stay at 20km from everyone else and try to snipe for the entire match
2- Press W at the start of the battle and get killed when 3-4 people shoot/torp you and surprise when you are killed.
Time your attack right, if your flank is strong push, if its weak kite away. For the rest just google. That's it.
Get in a clan that will teach you the ropes.
look fast for a clan that teaches you the basics - you can always decide to play solo down the line but make yourself the start a bit easier just by learning from others mistakes (german bb line is a heavy no in terms of new player line to go for)
Not really if you can stop for 2 seconds and think that the short ranged torps are only a standoff weapon and that you shouldn't be rushing at the start of the match in a BB to drop torps with the dd's
Noob here again, started up on destroyers. Just been doing randoms only tier 4 for now. Just killed a carrier and his bb buddy acting as a body guard. Why are destroyers so much fun?
They're nice. I don't mind doing a little wiggle back and forth to try and get both off. I kind of use them to zone a little, while using the sides to dump a bunch of damage with. Still not too good once I head into tier 5, it seems like it's a bigger increase in skill in other players or at least it's a lot more punishing of mistakes.

You're right. That was my favorite match besides the one as Koing where I used the scout plane to snipe three different guys over islands. It feels like I actually do stuff as bbs and destroyers. I can't play a carrier for my life and cruisers just seem kind of meh overall.
it’s like mostly EU here (2DQT,HOTEL and Kuma) with plenty of burger and sea anons playing also on EU, you need to ask the NA guys which clans are left from here cause your otherwise better off just starting on EU tbh (more players, better and worse player base at the same time, more anons you could play with etc)
depends rly if you wanna div or if you more a solo player cause if the later then not worth it (t5/6 is not that "far" and with some recruit shit + clan buildings you should be back in no time tbh)
on EU for solo i would go with HOTEL, if you wanna active play with ppl in divs then go 2DQT, KUMA i cant talk much about since its quiet around them (for the moment at least)

No they arent locked, all commanders of a specific nation can be changed between that nations ships by retraining. For premium ships, they dont need retraining when switching commanders.

To be fair I am pretty shit with only a 50% win rate so while I have occasional big brain moments they are balanced out by me being total trash at times.
Individual skill is heavily suppressed by moron teams and rng in random battles, so solo carry is very hard unless you do very good with DD and focus playing them. Even with that team can still throw. So getting close to and above 50 wr solo is an achievement in on of itself. Especially if you aren't a DD main.
Usually main bb's but been trying to get branch out to cruisers and dd's recently. Main reason I even went kita in the first place was watching a couple divisions of them absolutely shred the teams I was usually on.
If you can keep out of sight and wreck people with your torps before moving it should work. But I'm total trash so listening to me is the last thing anyone should do
If you get the T9 or year of Premium in the 100 token bundle it's worth it, because you can buy 90 tokens from store and gambling for 10 more isn't awful. Anything else, no.

To win and advance in ranked you have to play DD, you have the biggest game impact . Even if you lose you will most likely save a star if you didnt huff glue at the edge of the map.

Had this happen the other night. I bought 60 days of sub time back in february and through super containers and completing collections I've manage to extend it until at least the middle of July so far.

I returned to give this shit another try. Last time I played was the closed beta and some time after release. All I got for this was an empty account with a CBT flag and a t4 jap dd, a t4 American bb and a t3 russian cl. I've started going down to bismark but as a noob and solo player I guess I should go for something else? Any suggestions for fun. I remember playing jap carriers way back but looks like cv has changed. I remember getting a warspite premium back in the day as a gift but looks like I did not get it now as my progress from back then has been completely wiped.

Yamato I am scared to touch now for fear of having abysmal stats. even in the couple games where I had 150k+ dmg and successfully held or pushed a flank, they've all been losses and most of them total within a short span of time as the other flank collapses or all dds die in first few mins

Sherman's are fricking insane. I've seen more then a few people that just come to a stop, alt tab and not even bother trying to fight back once one of those little shits gets the drop on them.
The Richelieu is my favorite battleship. Its got good speed, hits hard and can really give morons that can't aim in ranked and random battles a lot trouble. Only annoying thing is that some times shell dispersion can be all over the place to the point you wouldn't be able to hit an FDG if it was taped to the end of your gun barrels.
Kearsarge is very strong if you know how to play it. Neustrashimy and Black (sold for coal starting next patch) are straight up OP, but very expensive.

Yes and no. It can devstrike cruisers and seriously hurt battleships if you flank correctly, but it's very fragile and awful at HE spamming. The problem is that citadel damage isn't rewarded enough experience-wise even if it's worth a lot, so grinding with it sucks.

Depends on the map and matchmaking. Most cases Sherman is probably way easier due to smoke+hydro+SAP combo. For ranked Marceau is way better if you know how to play.

If you are under 55% wr solo player, take Sherman, it's safer. Meanwhile grind French dd line and learn it's quirks (fast dd without smoke) and save coal for Marceau. You really want to get both of them if you enjoy dd gameplay
this - also Marc and Kleber play very differently (the guns, concealment make a huge difference in gameplay) so seeing if the French line is for you would be a coal saver in general - but definitely a line you should never go for when your not an experienced dd player

nope doesnt matter, you will be hitting the superstructre most of the time and you wont get much extra bow and aft hits to make the difference you are losing on fire chance. 5 percent gets reduced to nothing if you pick ifhe since ships have inherent fire resistance. You wont see even 1 fires. Fires are the main things that kills BBs when you are spamming shells from DDs.
Better conceal in torp dds dont matter when you have better dpm, They will run away from you to not get gunned down. If you scare them away you are already at an advantage. DDs win this game, if you kill enemy dd you are more than likely going to crush that flank if you dont get destroyed in return. Also unlike torp dds you can use your guns to harass enemy BBs cruisers etc behind smoke,islands or if you have range for it even open water gunboat. A gunboat DD is far better than Torp DD if he knows what he is doing.

You'd be right if DDs didn't have to cap. Sure, gunboats don't have the potential of dealing hundreds of thousands of damage, but if you kill the enemy torpedo boat, cap and live to farm a bit of damage, you're much more likely to win than him.

DD: Daring (jack of all trades), Halland (solo tryhard torp Black person - Gearing if you play in divs or wanna support team via best smoke in the game - randos in 99% cases wont make any use of it tho), Groz (free exp till 9 - tier 9 is a french DD with heal, Groz then is pretty much still one of the best "support" DDs at t10), Kleber line only when you got comfy with DDs that dont rely on heal (strong in divs, can work solo if you use your brain and dont rely on your team), Haru line but mostly for t8 Aki and t9 Kita (just great ships for solo and divs)
BB: Kremlin line is from t7 onwards busted, Yami line is still solid but you need to be the guy that doesnt max range shitter snipe everyone (learn to play at medium ranges where you overmatch everyone), as "fun" line hands down Schlieffen line (from 7 onwards just fun to play but dont expect solo carry)

Play izumo normally, its a good BB. You stay angled in the middle and shoot everyone that gives broadsides. Dont waste your FXP on skipping T9 ships unless they are exceptionally bad. Because higher tier ships give mroe base xp than low tier ones you are wasting your fxp on high tiers. Just play them normally. As for the euro line , it doesnt get good up until öster. So save your fxp to skip up until that ship.

I don't really get how any CLs are incredibly effective when 9/10 bbs overmatch now. even if I juke and dodge all it takes is 1 shell hit to take 10% hp and if they're lucky it'll citadel too
CLs farm damage, don't take 1v1s with BBs and try not to be their primary target, either through cover or distance. Nevsky is effective because it has bullshit radar, it can hit even the fastest DDs at range, is way too tanky for its class and the medium caliber gives it a pretty good smoke firing penalty.
I'm not talking about 1v1s. if I'm firing ~15km then any bb, at the very least the one I'm firing at, is going to be targeting me. what server and times do you play that CLs are not immediately prio #2 (after dd) for every ship in the game. chip damage equates to chunks of my hp. the rest I agree with

Tldr: yoshino, despite being better armored than the azuma is still a cruiser that can do only one thing and one thing only. Sit at 20km away from enemy and throw shells while angled away from them. Your HE pen is good but your fires per minute isnt as great as you think it would be. You are the cruiser with the least game impact, because if you pretend to be a BB, you are just taking BB slot. If you try to push in yoshino you will die. You dont have the armor or gun angles for it. All the jap cruisers are shit. What you can do is wait for japanese CL line that is coming in fall this year. Otherwise stop playing them. Its not worth it.
Also dont play solo in randoms. Its just going to be suferring. If you are in EU apply for one of the clans 2DQT/HOTEL and div with people.

When you go up tiers dont do these
1- stay at 20km from everyone else and try to snipe for the entire match
2- Press W at the start of the battle and get killed when 3-4 people shoot/torp you and surprise when you are killed.
Time your attack right, if your flank is strong push, if its weak kite away. For the rest just google. That's it.
Get in a clan that will teach you the ropes.

They're nice. I don't mind doing a little wiggle back and forth to try and get both off. I kind of use them to zone a little, while using the sides to dump a bunch of damage with. Still not too good once I head into tier 5, it seems like it's a bigger increase in skill in other players or at least it's a lot more punishing of mistakes.
You're right. That was my favorite match besides the one as Koing where I used the scout plane to snipe three different guys over islands. It feels like I actually do stuff as bbs and destroyers. I can't play a carrier for my life and cruisers just seem kind of meh overall.

To be fair I am pretty shit with only a 50% win rate so while I have occasional big brain moments they are balanced out by me being total trash at times.
Individual skill is heavily suppressed by moron teams and rng in random battles, so solo carry is very hard unless you do very good with DD and focus playing them. Even with that team can still throw. So getting close to and above 50 wr solo is an achievement in on of itself. Especially if you aren't a DD main.

Those are worst botes to even try to carry a game, Yamato is like most BBs stays at back and mostly is irrelevant to the battle, napoli is only good for competitive, you have zero firepower, just tankiness. Try them in divs for better results not dependent on rng matchmaking

Yamato is pretty hard to carry with due to bad traverse and mobility. But make an effort to play close to the front. I don't win a shitload when I solo queue but I always average pretty high damage and have a decent impact. Just don't sit back and snipe from 20km out. At like 10-15km you cit pretty much everything.

The Richelieu is my favorite battleship. Its got good speed, hits hard and can really give morons that can't aim in ranked and random battles a lot trouble. Only annoying thing is that some times shell dispersion can be all over the place to the point you wouldn't be able to hit an FDG if it was taped to the end of your gun barrels.
I'm going through the french line now. What do you fit to the Richie? Acceleration or damage control?
Damage control because I like to tank if I can and the Richi comes with speed boost which I used for acceleration.

Kearsarge is very strong if you know how to play it. Neustrashimy and Black (sold for coal starting next patch) are straight up OP, but very expensive.

its been both. my pr is going down and my wr too. honestly I'm really trying and I've progressively learnt more about the game, positioning, other ships etc. just seems like I'm stuck being terrible. I have good games and outplay people here and there but I have no consistency and I'm just getting more and more disheartened
You don't need to learn complex things like positioning to be average, focus on hitting targets and not dying early. How many battles do you have?

That's very low, I consider anyone under 1500 to be a new player and I don't complain about their stats. As long as you don't use money to jump to tiers you can't handle, you're good, just learn at your own pace.

I think that "protect the convoy" should be in big red flashing letters so it gets the message across properly.
Doesnt matter, the odds are hilariously stacked against the convoy defenders to the point trying to defend some convoy lines are just suicide lane. Wg fricked up with the balance of this mode.
