Yes it is, specifically the mach speed sections repurposed with broken controls. Some of it is intentionally broken to force RPG mechanics that shouldn’t be there and the other is because the wiimote is a janky piece of shit.
Cool, but if the gameplay is bad, the entire game is bad. Everything else doesn't matter if doesn't get the most important part right, otherwise you might as well make a cartoon or movie.

black knight fixed a lot, it has loads of content and it's even better on emulator.
it's mediocre but mostly works as designed. graphics are competent, I don't think there's any broken mechanics, or lazy/glitchy animations such as sonic running backwards or running in mid air, flip animation not lining up with rails, ect.
it's all seamless and there are no loading screens for quicktime events either.
those things alone make it better quality than frontiers.
Well thanks for being honest at least. The first one is on the slower side, but F&I remains more engaging because while it may not be the outright speediest game, you can play it in a fast way by engaging with all the mechanics and reacting to stage elements in time.

I avoided them for a while since the first looked boring and I didn't like the Boom style characters at the time, but I got F&I on a whim and was impressed so I went and got Shattered Crystal too. Music is also better than the more generic stuff in Lyric.
Truth is there are no good 3D sonic games.
The "good" ones are just the ones that aren't unplayable.
Literally hold forward, the game. Once you hit max speed there is no sense of momentum, loop-de-loops might as well be pre-rendered videos.

Werehog is absolutely the worst part of the wii/ps2 versions. the worst part of the 360/ps3 versions is the hub worlds, followed very closely by werehog.

i said it was the best 3D sonic we've gotten since Generations, not that its as good. Both games have their issues and are worse than the Adventure games. Frontiers and the updates its getting at least give me some hope that they're heading in the right direction with the franchise.

Frontiers has by far the most disgraceful level polish of any game we've seen in a long time.
the broken physics, overall programming, optimisation and animation work is absolutely disgraceful.
the animation team especially should have been fired.
sonic is constantly seen standing in mid air or facing the wrong way, snapping late into an another animation without a transition. flipping the wrong way onto a rail, lerping to a rail with the wrong arc, his attack animations are mostly just static poses like one of them is just his fricking model rotating with his leg out.
a lot of the animations were already done for them in generations and yet they couldn't even import them without breaking them.

Not just that but graphically it's like they put environment elements together without bothering to make anything look like they belonged in the same game, the game is just shit visually aside from how individual models look divorced from their areas.

I love the "versions" arguments when it comes to multiplat Sonic games. I was told I was wrong for judging Shadow based on the PS2 version so I played it on dolphin and guess what, it was a shit game there too.
Heroes' PS2/Xbox versions are genuinely way buggier, not that it actually saves the game playing on the way less but still pretty buggy GCN version. They mostly sorted out the huge version differences by the time Shadow came out but once again that wasn't enough to save it.
All kinds of shit rolled up in this thread. Sunshine was never good and never will be good, zillenial scum, and heroes is a buggy mess no matter what system it is on.
How do people have such fond memories for this game? The different teams gimmicks was so shallow and the levels/bossfights were recycled across all the campaigns
I literally hated heroes when it came out, the gameplay is legitimately utter fricking shit. there are worse games out now but it was a steaming fricking turd when it came out that was only really redeemed because people sperged extra fricking hard about shadow the edgehog.
I thought Sonic Lost World was alright tbh. The major problem was it had the same problems like Sunshine and Crash 4. The moment you decided to collect shit and 100% the game it becomes absolute bullshit
This game was possibly the best use of 3d Sonic's usual narrow corridor level design. Motion controls made the simple levels more entertaining since you had to flail around like a moron to move Sonic left and right and you couldn't use the side step move as a crutch. It felt a bit more challenging and engaging than pressing left and right bumpers. I liked the Arabian nights theme too. The game was bad but I liked it. I won't try replaying it now and ruin my vague memory.

Never ran into bugs on the GCN version. Think most of that is just people being bad and blaming the game.
homing attack tracking is still wonky, and lightspeed dash collecting more than a single ring is just as random as it is in the ps2/xbox versions
