>"I DON'T WANT TO BECOME LIKE MY MOTHER, REAN!"
>literally becomes her mother
I keep hearing she is overhated for being sort of a c**t in CS1 but that she is one of the few characters that really changes as the series goes on.
Lol
5 games and her character arc walked in circles and returned to the same place but worse (Her family plot sucks)
There’s a lot of characters with better characters development than her
Her “biggest” change is: She dropped the “tsundere act” at some point and become a generic heroine that only exists to be one of MC’s wienerslave
Almost irrelevant to the story
Emma fits in very well thematically (and as a bonus she has an interesting parallel with Vita as well as Rean and Crow)
Ops this is supposed to reply to this
>Emma
>Got her spot stolen by her familiar
Familiars should've just been extension of user and not it's own thing
Did we ever find out if Grianos actually had free will and could talk like Celine can? I forget if it was ever addressed. Either way Rufus was a dick for killing him just to flex.
>Got her spot stolen by her familiar
Which spot? It’s Emma who guided Rean in the end of CS1 and finished her job in Thors.
This argument is always funny because it is too reductionist and tries to diminish a single character when the problem extends to the entire game. Celine has practically no relevance other than giving some expositions that, often, have no relevance whatsoever to the story or the group's actions and only serve to give tips to the players. The expositions that Emma gives are also not very relevant but they help to understand her actions in CS1. The Cold Steel cast always makes the decision that will “delay the plot” so that the games can last longer. In the end, none of them are super relevant to the main events because there are few really “relevant” events.
Falcom tries to make everyone relevant to something but in the end no one is really relevant because there are too many characters. If Celine didn't exist, the story would change very little. If Alisa didn't exist, the story wouldn't change much either. Same for Emma. Emma has the relevance of using magic that is important for several moments in the story(like stop McBurn or teleport) but is never the definitive factor/only way to solve the situation. If we erase Alisa from existence we would lose a main character linked to the RFs but that wouldn't change much of the story either. I think the main characters in Cold Steel exist most of the time to be Walking Expositions because Falcom doesn't care about story.
Falcom wants to keep adding useless things with the excuse of “worldbuilding” because it’s easier
I think the good part of her character arc is growing out of being a stupid kid that speaks in justice and morality and instead takes a more proactive approach to arguing with her mother. Instead of just b***hing she puts her smarts and tech to work to show her mother how things can be rather than relying on her mothers less than moral business tactics.
Main problem with Alisa, like most CS girls is they really try and force the relationship with Rean as a major part of the stories. So much so it feels unnatural when you go from a cute scene with one to another and there's a clear sexual tension that is never followed up on unless you choose them at the end of the game.
>Instead of just b***hing she puts her smarts and tech to work to show her mother how things can be rather than relying on her mothers less than moral business tactics.
Never did anything relevant
>she puts her smarts and tech to work to show her mother how things can be
By directly working under her mother in her mother's organisation?
Literally putting her money where her mouth is. She was a child who was the only the daughter of a conglomerate CEO, she had no way of altering the company either through product design or moral tactics.
Instead, she gained an orbal engineering education from multiple respected heads and clearly earned respect from her peers for actually doing something. Something which is shown, during CS4, where during Crossbells occupation she was functioning as a link between other companies as well as a branch manager. Her mother is too business oriented to listen to emotion so she goes out of her way to provide well devised reason.
>Something which is shown, during CS4, where during Crossbells occupation she was functioning as a link between other companies as well as a branch manager.
They never really showed her abilities to act as a link between several companies like you said. We were just told that. In fact, I don't believe this requires much since the characters in Trails always accept anything with nice speech. If Falcom wanted to show that Alisa is good at what she does, they should show good conflicts so that she can prove that she is good at bargaining with complicated and skeptical people. Instead we have their employees treating her like she's a big deal but she only has 1 year of experience and in CS2 she said she didn't know how to run a company. It's very forced and not very believable
I would argue it's hard to show that. What do we know to cement Alisa's mother as a CEO? That she sits in a room and discusses whilst looking professional?
But I do get what you mean. Falcom has a problem with telling instead of showing.
On an additional side note, for character comparison, you have the character of Juna who is similar in the way of her trying to push a moral standard that she stands by every day of her life due to learning at the Crossbell police academy. This is the main reason I didn't care much for Juna, because her big character arc in CS3 is losing Crossbell to Erebonia and having an emotional breakdown when terrorists invade. The difference is tantamount that she's just a kid who doesn't have the ability to do anything about it at the moment.
If I wanted to be pedantic, Osborne as a character, regardless of his motives, made his way through the government in order to enact change he sought. How is that any different?
That true ending route was pee pee poo poo
I loved the true ending route. That final shot was kino.
Fully agree
Breast Implants
Genuinely what was Falcom thinking with Alisa's timeskip look? How do you aim for "smart female executive who is also a JRPG heroine" but land squarely in "hooker"?
what are some non-bad female characters that could be the heroine then? laura and emma are also boring.
made for crow
Like Persona, CS doesn’t need a main heroine with the dating simulator
But if the idea is to have a “more important female character for the plot” then it would make more sense to be Emma. Towa is not a bad idea too. Just remove all the romance from the main story
They did fine with Estelle, Lapis and Agnes EVEN IF KURO 2 IS TOTAL FRICKING DOG SHIIIIT Laura while boring made for a good complement to Rean. Alisa doesnt have a particularly good contrast for Rean, doesn't complement Rean, and is a bottom tier tsundere for 2 games
Fie, Emma, and Altina
>Has to be retroactively added to Azure so she doesn't look like a crazy person
dating your student is immoral
*immortal
alisa is the 2nd worst heroine
do you know why?
juna is worse
I was happy to play with rean again in cs4
that’s how shit juna is because I fricking hate rean
She's from Crossbell meaning that she's a moronic jobber, frick off.
The cat had more meaningful interactions with Rean outside of bonding events than all other heroines combined.
The funniest part is that there are 2, arguably 3 tsuns in this game and she's the worst... by a lot.
She was pretty bad when we were forced by XSEED to play in English but now she's fine.
how do you gays still play these games after all these years?
i might make a thread somewhere else about this in the future, but falcom is no company to make a long standing series
the company is literally the wienerroach of gaming, and it's designed for only one thing: survive. It will abandon any fanbase, it will cling to any trend, it will appease to any kind of homosexualry, and they'll rip off anything popular if it means they will survive
compare the series from its roots to where they are now, they simply do not give a frick if it means they can survive
the company will probably outlast the gaming industry itself, which is ok, but definitely not the kind of shit you want to be invested long term
even if they have you now it's a matter of time till they drop you if it means to survive, it's a fricked up relationship anon, you need to move on from these games asap
okay buddy which games should i play instead?
Alisa is best girl and canon.
>best girl
In a world with just alisa she is the number 2
>canon
Tita uses a cannon. Alisa is just a thief trying to steal Tita’s Orbal Gear
Alisa is the sexiest in the CS1 cast
BTFO by Emma
>playing games with named female characters
cringe
Alisa is honestly fine. there are far far worse character crimes in this trash
Got banned off /vg/ for being rude to SEAfriends and now you're shitposting on Ganker huh
Well like we told you on the Falcom general Alisa is great, same as Cold Steel 3 which is the second highest rated Trails game btw
30 reviewers at best (insane stupid people that still play this garbage series)
The score is not that high
Trails is a joke
what are your favorite games?
Persona 5, Final Fantasy 7 and Dragon Quest XI
Good games unlike the shit Falcomslop
If Metacritic score is the truth so I am not wrong
It's really funny how Alisa doesn't achieve anything close to her utopian goal. In Daybreak there are weapons of mass destruction that make Railway Cannons look like just a normal weapon and it's even funnier that the Reinfords had to give technology to Calvard to make even more powerful weapons.
I like every Trails game.
I like very Trails character.
