Why is this console so highly by some posters here again?
Because they grew up with it
>worst smash
*second worst smash
better?
I'll allow that opinion.
P+ = PMEXRemix > brawl- > brawl+ > melee > brawl > ultimate > sm4sh
Vanilla Brawl is not better than Ultimate.
Subspace alone mods ultimate.
Subspace without the cutscenes is boring shit.
Yes it is, there’s so much more to do in Vanilla Brawl
>Why is this console so highly by some posters here again?
So highly what?
Metroid
Other M, sure. But Prime Trilogy is the definitive version of the gamecube games
I'm talking about Prime 3
and the Prime series is western slop
except that prime 1 was heavily worked on by both retro and nintendo. 2 is more western. Unironically we would have gotten the slop version with a 3rd person camera view if not for shigeru.
all slop
super, fusion and zero mission do all the prime series does better and are actually real metroid games and canon
>if you don't agree with me you are being disingenuous
idgaf if prime is so highly regarded by redditors like you
retro studios is the most overrated developer in history
>do all the prime series does
Good morning sir
im sleepy
>slop
>slop

Oh, so you wanted to make a Wii thread but knew the only way to get discussion on anything on Ganker is to be disingenuous and sew "discussion" through ragebait. Have fun. Hopefully Ganker will eventually stop doing this with with almost any thread for "discussion".
A console doesn't get credit for ports.
>>no unique new series like Splatoon
Xenoblade.
Xeno series started on the ps1
Wii had better third party games than gamecube, n64, switch, wii u combined.
The Nintendo games, like all Nintendo games, are not worth playing.
such as?
Ghost Squad
You don't even play that game.
>Why is this console so highly by some posters here again?
Mama and papa purchased the GameSlab for me in my youth.
>Worst Metroid
Probably. But it also had the best metroid, which included the best controls in any game ever, and still hasn't been surpassed.
It could play gamecube games without any modifications and emulate N64 titles.
Your argument is invalid.
I can do that on ma compeeter
If your best argument is "well it could play Gamecube games", maybe you're proving the point that Wii's library was indeed ass.
to be fair it was backward compatible with gamecube that alone made it have some value
Homebrew.
>no unique new series like Splatoon
>worst third party support in history, almost all games are shovelware or unavailable in it due to hardware limitations
????
What?
I'm just going to say Super Swing Golf. A game that when I searched "super swing golf cameltoe" on Google Images, I got zero real results
It’s the best way to play gamecube games. Memory card utilities are so easy to work with when you have built in USB and SD card interface.
And, b***hes love Wii Sports, WarioWare… anything silly that gets them up and moving. Having a Wii hooked up guarantees a fun party.
It released during the popping of the videogame bubble. Everything after 7th gen sucked and 7th gen itself was already marked with a stark downward trend because it hit a point of diminishing returns that most of the industry never stepped down from.
Videogames during the 90s-2000s were just the new speculative investment thing, complete with meme terminology like AA or AAA, the actual investors likely didn't and still don't understand how any of this functioned, just like any of the modern, highly publicized and mocked speculative investment shenanigans.
Zelda
One console too early.
Did you get all the prizes?
best Zelda
worst Smash
decent Metroid
Pikmin sucks
a shame about Starfox
Splatroon
lots of third party support
mediocre Mario Kart
DS game was better
Galaxy is way better than that DOGSHIT Sunshine
I do not praise it. I do not dog it neither.
>DS game was better
>Galaxy is way better than that DOGSHIT Sunshine
> DS game was better
never got why they decided to ditch the balloon-elimination mode. DS MK was better because of this alone
>best Zelda
>decent Metroid
>Pikmin sucks
Contrarianism has rotted your brain.
Did I insult your baby game, while you ironic dislike Metroid for being too casual?
The word is "ironically", third worlder. You think Skyward Sword is the best Zelda, clearly you love baby games.
>mediocre mario kart
HARD filtered
>a shame about Starfox
F-Zero missed out on many Nintendo Consoles after Climax… let that sink in, was it for better or worse?
?si=PB0mUNfEaFyfyH0E
>no unique new series
does DKCR count?
idk I still like playing Endless Ocean, Zack & Wiki, and Zangeki No Reginleiv.
>no unique new series
inb4 >literally just Mario Tennis
I bet i'm the only person who owns these Wii U variations
I probably bought that black one. They're just the same controllers in different packaging
Zelda
Smash
Metroid
>>no Pikmin
>>no Starfox
>>no unique new series like Splatoon
third party support in history, almost all games are shovelware or unavailable in it due to hardware limitations
All correct.
>maybe the best Mario Kart up to that point, but obsolete now thanks to 8 Deluxe
Nah, Kart Wii was dogshit too.
>Mario Galaxy, but still not the best 3D Mario
Mario Galaxy may not be the worst 3D Mario, but I wouldn't consider it anywhere near the best either.
>Why is this console so highly by some posters here again?
Literally because they either grew up with it or are being contrarian. Wii and Wii U were the worst major Nintendo consoles in history in terms of their library.
> nintendos best selling console until the switch happened
> people who like it are the ones being contrarian though!
It was the best selling console because the majority of its playerbase were literally not gamers. This was widely known at the time, dipshit. You'd know it too if you weren't 5 years old when it came out.
> believing 20 year old myths
might as well say that the ps1 and 2 only sold because they could play CD / DVD
yes, there were some people who probably only got it for Wii Sports but look at pic related - 3.7 vs 4.6/4.7, the difference is not astronomical
>Michael Pachter is his source
Get fricked, moron. It's not a myth when Wii Sports, Wii Music and even Wii Fit were all massive successes.
> It's not a myth if it's real in my head!
Now post the Wii Fit sales, Pachter.
interesting, now post the Ring Fit sales

True, but those aren't Wii games

Oh wow the bare minimum
>Introduction of Miis
Nobody likes these plastic hideous things
maybe read OPs post again. The question was:
> Why is this **console** so highly [regarded]
not
> Why is this consoles library so highly [regarded]
They're the same question. If a console's library isn't good then it isn't a good console, period.
so what you are saying, when you claim that the Wii was shit, is that every nintendo game up until the Wii U was shit?
Nice try, but only Wii games are a part of Wii's library. If you want an emulator then get a PC moron.
> just use an emulator
> in 2006
kek
Yes, moron. As to your other reply:
Backwards compatibility is the bare minimum and there are a shitload of ways to play old Nintendo games. I'll say it again: if you purchased a Wii just to use it as an emulator, you belong in special needs.
> Backwards compatibility is the bare minimum. if you purchased a Wii just to use it as an emulator
no-one said this.
the point is, even if you run out of good Wii games - you still have like 2 decades of other stuff to play. Also the Switch (+every other Nintendo console before the Wii) doesn't even have backwards compatibility
>If a console's library isn't good then it isn't a good console, period.
Stupid metric for a console
It's the only metric for a console. If you didn't purchase the console to play its games, you belong in the special needs program.
> backwards compatibility doesn't matter ... because it just doesn't ok!
>PII U.... GOOD!
people here are really mad at the switch huh
>overheats your 1019 block gamecube memory card and corrupts it
Damn
Yeah it was popular but there’s a reason the Wii fell off as hard as it did. Still, Nintendo always manages to somehow bounce back. If they were Sony, they’d still be beating that dead horse and wondering why no one bought “ps sports resort part 2 remastered” or whatever they’d call it
>Worst Smash
You lost me there
and yet it was the best console since the ps2
you forgot
>best game of all time (best version)
I stan for RE4 Wii Edition
Fine a wine this aged like
I've played a depressing amount of Wii games and most of them were disappointing, especially the ones that were a part of bigger franchises. People will b***h about Switch here because it's the current console and it's Ganker but the reality is that Switch mogs the frick out of Wii.
But enough of the Switch
homies out here acting like anyone cares that Wii doesnt have good smash bros on it
shut the frick up Black person, it's for my grandpa to play golf on and for my niece to play just dance.
your pisstation and xballs can die, they do nothing a pc can't. wii is the only good console of its time
>of its time
Then it was a dark time.
the wii had great games and I'm tired of pretending it didn't
>TvC
>Zack and Wiki
>Rune Factory Frontier
>Sin and Punishment 2
based
>no Pikmin
They couldn't possibly make a Pikmin for the Wii after the abomination that was Pikmin 2.
Pikmin 2 is a case study for why it's important to wait a generation before making a sequel. It was a lazy copy/paste job that soiled the franchise forever.
I love the Gamecube and I love the Switch but I think the Wii and Wii U were terrible mistakes. Well, mistake might not be the right term because Nintendo absolutely needed lightning in a bottle after the Gamecube's disappointing sales, but they cheaped out on every aspect of it, incluiding the motion controls themselves. Shaking the controller was a replacement for a button press in 90% of the games, so the only thing good about it at the end of the day was the IR pointer and some minor tilt capabilities. Not even gonna touch on the Wii U because that thing was a true disaster, but the Wii was set up for short term novelty and long term disappointment.
You know what would have been great on the Wii? A FRICKIN' STAR FOX GAME WHERE YOU CAN MOVE WITH THE JOYSTICK AND AIM AT THE SCREEN WITH THE IR POINTER.
>star fox
not enough ideas for it, according to Shigster.
https://purenintendo.com/miyamoto-talks-why-star-fox-never-landed-on-the-wii/
>We worked on some ideas around Star Fox back during the Wii days. But the problem was that we didn’t have any new ideas to bring to the game. I wasn’t particularly interested in just making another Star Fox game with better graphics and better sound. So we set that aside back then. This time, as we were doing our experiments, and we found this idea of doing the two-screen gameplay. I was particularly interested in a new style of play, where you’d have the wienerpit view on one screen, and you’d have the third-person standard Star Fox view on the TV screen, and how those two screens could interact with one another.
Wii is what happens when you give Miyamoto too much creative control. Everything is compromised because the hardware sucks and games have to focus on motion controls at the expense of everything else. A few developers were able to work around this, but Nintendo's in-house people clearly had a rough time with it.
You get a console that connects to the internet, has a dedicated server for shopping and downloading and other tidbits, gives (FREE) application services to third parties who feel like it, is backwards compatible to every Nintendo system and can outright play Gamecube discs, has 4 dedicated slots for Gamecube controllers (MORE than the original 'cube, itself!), has unique motion controls that are Wi-Fi, is outright LOW PRICED, and is otherwise massively positively reviewed and endorsed?
Oof, what a blow to Nintendo in 2006!
I'd better invest in my personal home computer and all the top-grade 2006 computer hardware and equipment!
technically it has two zeldas and twilight princess should be in everyones top 3 just for interesting character design (midna etc)
Toilet Piss is the 2nd worst 3D Zelda. Squidward's Bored is the 1st.
>best Mega Man
>only good version of Rodea the Sky Soldier
>best version of Resident Evil 4
>takes like 5 minutes to hack and can emulate everything up through PSX in native 240p
I still use mine pretty regularly, can't say the same about the WiiU or Switch
>worst Zelda
?
You forgot to metion that very few games used the wiis motion controls effectivly and it got forcefully put in games that didn't need it like donkey kong country returns and wario world shake it and games like prime 3 and skyward sword suffred in quality to utilized it poorly giving us the wrost combat in a zelda game and primes 3 tacked on grapple beam shit
>worst Zelda
You mean best; Skyward Sword is the best 3D Zelda.
And the Wii was the last time all Nintendo first-party titles were of genuinely high quality. It was also the last time a Nintendo system had actual third-party exclusives.
You look at the library of the Switch; it has at most 10 actually amazing Nintendo games; no big budget third-party exclusives; overpriced indie games you can get everywhere else; ports of PS3 games sold at full price that don't run any better than their PS3 versions; and the most underwhelming , half-baked, laziest Nintendo games the company ever developed; that mouthbreathing Nintendo nest still praise because they are subhuman cretins. Phase, and a handful of miracle ports, sure.
The Wii was the last good Nintendo console; the Switch a gimped, shitty iPad with a built in controller that doesn't even let me watch Netflix in bed. If it wasn't for Bayonetta 3 I wouldn't have bought one. And playing Quake or Bioshock Infinite in bed doesn't make up for what a worthless piece of shit it is.
The Nintendo Wii is nothing more than a Shake-Weight!
And everyone knows that's a bad invention with zero value!
Right!?
> gf can keep canoeing with Mike in Wii Sports Resort for 2 hours non-stop
> but after 5 minutes of giving me a handy she's "tired"
bros, it's over isn't it?
Those girls aren't learning anything, what a mistake.
What posters? Everyone shits on the wii regularly besides the contrarians who will defend it in the thread just for the sake of disagreeing with you
Wii Games you’d like to see ported?
Who the frick wants MP9?
