Based on the franchise or the in-universe Sword Art Online game? If the latter, no, it's too shallow to be a generic ARPG and no one would actually bother making a proper swordfight simulator. Any of the other Seed games would be better.

Not really, same as the one based on .hack failed. The SAO games are pretty, well, boring, and the majority of the interest in them comes from retelling the story of the various anime seasons/series. There's not really a whole lot about the worlds of these MMOs for people to engage in in their own terms. Everything is so focused on gary stu and his harem that you only learn the bare minimum that, uh, PKing exists, but doesn't reward gear or items or anything really? Or uh, how in the gun based one, there's... some superboss type enemies?
There just isn't a lot of info because it's all SO focused on the dramatization and making the main character seem so godly.
Which is fine, it's an anime, but it wouldn't work as an MMO due to that. Again, .hack//fragment is the perfect example of why.
