"Retro characters" aren't really much of a thing when you think about.
Yes, Sakurai put Ice Climbers in for the sake of having an NES era rep, but the other characters weren't included for that particular reason. Pit got in because he was a popular request in both the west and east, you could say he's on the same boat as K. Rool and Banjo in that regard.
Mr. Game & Watch, R.O.B, and Duck Hunt, while technically retro, were also said to be "surprise characters". What's important to note is that Sakurai has stated that Piranha Plant was meant to be Ultimate's equivalent, which proves none of those previous characters were chosen just because they were old.
So in Isaac's case, the best hope he has is that they're still using the Smash ballot to decide on potential newcomers, or his series is miraculously revived by the time the next Smash happens.

Can somebody explain to me why Palutena and Samus look so fricking ugly in Ultimate? They looked fined in SSB4, just needed to be updated for Ultimate's rendering, but instead they look like xenomorphs with down syndrome.

I'll give you the recovery, but the barrel is already a throwable item in smash. His moveset otherwise seems pretty faithful to the character.

The more I think about it, Earthbound is really lucky to have 2 characters, it took until Ultimate for DK and Metroid to have more characters than Earthbound, but you never hear people talking about that
DK and Metroid still don't have enough reps. They each need 1 more at minimum. Same with Kirby.
From what I've heard, Lucas is that lucky in that
1. he was derived from Ness' moveset, apparently he was actually more of a clone earlier on before Sakurai saw the time to differentiate him more.
2. Sakurai seemingly wasn't even aware of the fact that Mother 3 was going to be Japan only when locking down Brawl's roster in 2005.
Who else can even be considered for Metroid? I guess since Piranha Plant got in a literal Metroid could be considered, but I don't know.
the beauty of the metroid franchise is that you are supposed to think those weird ass looking aliens have an enough organized society to develop space travel.
If we get another character it should be Kraid, an Omega Metroid or SA-X. Sadly the most likelly is the donut steal chozo from last game.

there are other incarnations of the triforce of power, while Raven Beak is the one that links Samus to having the warrior chozo genes. even dubbing Samus for what she is. no one else is, even dubbing Samus for what she is, a Metroid, meaning Ultimate Warrior, his presentation had a lot of impact so is no wonder why is he so popular

Kirby needs a new rep count higher than just 1. It's been too long a wait since the last Kirby newcomer, and I'm willing to bet just adding Bandana Dee alone will not be enough to amend Smash's mishandling of Kirby's appearance.

Magolor is a villain that shows how modern kirby is a deconstruction of Kirby with RTDL blending adventure and superstar with shades of darkmatter trilogy, the magolor bossfight is pretty much a blend of Nightmare, Marx and Darkmatter

Eh, not really, getting the new protag is pretty standart procedure for these kinds of series in Smash.
The only lucky thing with Lucas is Sakurai not knowing Mother 3 would be Japan only and Mother as a series ending after 3, so the series was mostly safe from complaints about 'wasted slots'.

I can agree with this. Mother is more or less finished but I have no issue with it getting more characters. I'm gunning for Ninten still just to complete the trilogy with their respective protagonists.

Yes especially Sheik if Sakurai is going to continue keeping Sheik separate from Zelda when the main cool gimmick is transforming especially when the Xenolame bawds do it. Sakurai literally sold it back as DLC with them.
Sheik can be replaced by Impa since Impa does everything does and more, put Impa in the spotlight with some Age of Calimity moves and Nagitana Smashes, make Sheik the echo for the smashies and everyone wins

Both of those recovery ideas are lame. Using Growth to spawn a climbable vine would be better. Also the Djinn are not important enough to be special moves, unless Isaac can use them for summons or something.
