Would pokemon be better if all RNG was removed?

Would pokemon be better if all RNG was removed? No random secondary effects on moves, no crits, no damage ranges, no random paras, sleep and freeze removed, no double/triple protect, all moves have perfect accuracy and stuff like fire blast/thunder/blizzard are reworked into something else.

      boring as shit

You could predict the outcomes of battles with certainty at that point. There would be no reason to play.

Speaking of boring games. If you're using strategy in chess it's because you're bad. Chess is a game of pattern memorization at high level. The person who has memorized a larger amount of complex patterns wins.

Oh trust me, im just as bad as both of you are. I just take what professional chess players say about chess more seriously than smogon trannies on Ganker.

Anyone who played chess here played it at amateur level at best, where it's actually fun because you don't know what you're doing. Anon's correct, high level chess is very formulaic, it's all knowledge.

      In that case
      Remove Scald again
      Remove Non-100% chance Flinch moves
      Remove Paralysis
      Remove Freeze
Remove Secondary effects from moves with more than 50 BP (accounting for Technician too)
There you now removed most of Virtually no Risk with High Reward mechanics.

Just nerf edge cases like Paraflinch. RNG is still important. Simplest fix is just hard-code an immunity to multiple turns being skipped.

the way smogon works is never how actual games work though. its extremely more rare in the games that such situations ever happen (i never saw them happening), and pokemon hit even at +4 and +6 evasiveness, even more in latest games

pokemon would be better with pokken battle system. no luck whatsoever, pure skill, pure improvised gaming, dumb ass grinding kept to a minimum

The only RNG I'd keep is move accuracy and critical hits. I don't think anyone would miss losing to a random full para or getting frozen by ice beam.
And I don't like crits either, but they're a necessary evil against defense boosting fatmons.

No. Remove support for competitive instead, and make a good game instead.

Serene Grace would be far better if it only doubled the effect chance for moves with a <30% effect chance.

All you need to do is remove flinching, and just change the secondary effect of moves that had flinch prior. Simple fix.

Serene Grace is a nothing burger. Every user of it is shit besides like 3 Pokemon (One of which is an Uber mon). But I will agree that giving flinching moves a horrendous chance to proc is mind boggling. Definitely needs a slight revamp like you mentioned. Either that or classify flinch secondary effects so that it doesn't get boosted by SG

        >Every user of it is shit besides like 3 Pokemon
Those 3 Pokemon are what make it so obnoxious to deal with. And it's not just flinching, but having such a high chance of a paralysis happening through Body Slam to guarantee flinches on anything faster that is neither Electric nor Ghost.

Honestly it all just comes to using Covert Cloak. I know autists give me the "MUH USING X TO COUNTER Y" complaint but it's unironically the best item introduced this gen. The fact you can bypass Salt Cure, Flinching in its entirety among other things is a godsend. I haven't had any problems with Serene Grace at all since I've ran this item on a bulk mon.

With that being said I wouldn't really say those three mons is what pushes stuff off the edge. On the plus side atm anyways, Togekiss doesn't really exist and Jirachi unless it's scarf cannot really do anything against OU's power level. I just think it buffing flinching is the main problem. Body Slam sucks sure but it wouldn't be so bad if flinching wasn't a whooping 60%(?) Of procing alongside Paralysis. If this was pre-Paraylsis nerf when Covert didn't exist, then yeah this would be barely unmanagable.

To be fair, it's just Jirachi right now.

It would be more balanced, but I don't know if it would be better. I think shit like Scald's burn chance and Hypnosis having atrocious accuracy are pretty bad, but I think some element of risk and reward is good. For the most part, I think mitigating bad RNG is a key strategy for improvement in Pokemon, but that same RNG is why it's not something I take too seriously.

Just add in the sleep and freeze variants that existed in PLA instead and it'll be fine for the most part. Guaranteed turn losses instead of just a typical status effect is gay and everyone knows it.

Any mechanic that just takes your turn away from you should be removed. Full paralysis chance and freeze sucks, flinch has to stay since that's the whole point but make it so after being flinched your chance of being flinched the next turn is halved.

Non 100% accurate moves are fine because it was your choice to have those moves.

    Frick no

Ruins some of my favorite strats, I love randomness

    Like my Persian with Swagger
Go up against a pokemon with high attack, start with Fake Out then use Persian's superior speed to Swagger the opponent
Either they hurt themselves in confusion for a big chunk or KO my Persian.
If they hurt themselves I can finish them off with a Hyperbeam
It's pretty rad to have a bit of chance and fun with moves
