I think this style of humor had its moment but the novelty wore off reeeaaally quick. I liked rick and morty when the first seasons were airing but trying to rewatch it now just makes me physically cringe.
I could still see this being entertaining for someone relatively new to Roilands whole "look at meee I'm a fricking gun" style of humor.

I don't mind Rick and Morty but holy shit stretching it over the course of a 12 hour game is agonizing. The first few hours are ok.
Humor aside the gameplay loop is pretty fun for a linear shooter. Nice set pieces, good feeling movement mechanics. If it weren't so steeped in Rick and Morty humor I think most people would have loved it.

I think it’s a step beyond that, it’s a combination of extreme gross out humor and nobody shutting the frick up for a microsecond. Basically if you compressed every bad aspect of Rick & Morty. There’s a ‘joke’ in the DLC all about cleaning some giants ass with a extended Cheers reference and the entire scene is shooting worms popping out his buttcheeks (not from his butthole just directly ripping through the cheeks) while the canned laughter repeats to the slug peoples sitting around the bar telling purposely ‘bad’ jokes, The thing is the comedy presented gets so grating that even these purposely ‘poorly done’ jokes feel more refreshing than the stuttering tripping over it own comedy presented all throughout the main game+dlc. It actually jarring to feel people purposely do dry comedy with easy to guess zingers because they’re actually jokes instead of autistic people yelling swears at each other

I don't agree there. They're weird, but they should be, they're talking aliens. The only thing I never got use out of was default sweezy's needler thing. And even if a gun's default firemode isn't very good they always get at least one mod that makes them cracked, like the mod for gus that turns his shotgun primary into a flak cannon

if you like constant disposable and irreverent dialogue, it might be up your alley.
game+DLC bundle is $8 if you have gamepass.
My verdict is that it's not worth the asking price but if you have gamepass it's a good 2 day gaming experience.
I haven't watched or cared about Rick and Morty. The humor of High on Life isn't special but you'll get a chuckle here and there.
I liked it, despite myself. Combat is fun in a kind of Ratchet & Clank-y kind of way, you get to launch enemies and it rewards combining abilities and stuff like that.
I honestly didn't realize how much of a void there is of legitimate comedies in the games industry until I played it. People shit on quirky writing, but that's always quirky writing tied to a bland, self-serious story. Even Borderlands tries to pretend that its story has weight between randumb poop fart sidequests. I can't remember the last time I played a singleplayer shooter that's straight comedy to the core before I played this. I think your mileage will depend on your tolerance for rick and morty style shitty improv comedy, though. It's not the only thing there, but there's a lot of it there specifically written to weigh on your nerves.
I find it kind of hilarious that immediately after the Rick And Morty shooter turned out decent, the rick and morty guy got outed as a pervert rendering anyone who liked it unable to say a single thing about it
