Would you buy a screenless Nintendo Switch that plugged into the tv and came with the pro controller? To people who only play docked, would they lose out on anything?

Yes, since my Switch has never once left the dock for the years I've owned it.
I'm the opposite, I don't even have a tv so it'd be worthless. I considered a switch lite but they suck wiener, and you can't replace the bumpers
Are you serious?
Is everyone here serious?
Docked switch has ugly graphics
i'm not someone that gets out much, so yeah, docked Switch. it's not about the graphics, because if it was people wouldn't be playing Switch games in the first damn place.
Yeah, probably. As long as it wasn't digital only.
Not now, I already have a normal switch. Maybe if it was like half price, it'd have to be a steep discount because the switch is already cheap and there is some value in playing it in bed or whatever while you watch slop on the TV
I legitimately forget the switch is portable.
You know there's a type of switch that's only portable, it doesn't even have a video out?
Nintendo needs to return to the home console market. I'm sick of substandard performance for battery life.
I would
this requires the software library/dev teams to split into handheld/home console again so you'll get droughts on one or the other
Yeah if it was cheaper.
Normal Switch is a flimsy piece of shit out of the dock so I never take it out because of that. Bought a Switch Lite for handheld gaming and it's great.
This is literally the PS TV, so the answer to your question is likely yes, some people will, but not everyone. Enough that if it were a bit cheaper to reflect lower production costs in the same vein as both PS TV and the Switch lite, it would likely sell pretty well.
I actually got my hands on a PSTV on ebat for like $5 because some ESL was selling it as a "Veeta TV", and I figured it would be funny to throw $5 at some chink knockoff to see what it was. Came pretty much brand new in the box.
then everybody clapped, right?
Just because nothing interesting happens to you doesn't mean nothing ever does.
If it was $99.99 like the gamecube.
And it was shaped like a cube and came with smash.
Shit's so old now they could probably still turn a profit at that price point.
god i miss when consoles were so cheap. being able to buy them just by saving my allowance for a few weeks is crazy.
gamecube launch price was $199, or $350 in today's money.
a ridiculously outdated mobile gpu as a stationary terminal? how could I refuse
The same could be said of all consoles, and they tend to sell.
except the switch
i only use it docked so yeah
I find having the option to play handheld to be valuable and worthwhile even if I don't use it undocked as often anymore. I don't know what kind of discount people are expecting from a device like this, but I doubt it would be significant enough to be worth limiting your options.
No, I actually like and use portable mode.
So like, what the PSTV was to the PS Vita? I'd probably still prefer the original, but I could see a market for them. However, Nintendo would probably prefer to make people buy a more expensive hybrid instead, only leaving a budget option to the handheld side.
No battery, screen, or attached controllers to fail? Frick yes I'd buy that
It sucks how many PSVita games aren't even TV compatible.
Modding is easier than ever, and you can install a plugin to de-blacklist games for playing on the TV
I don't know what you "dude just steal the Mercedes all property is theft *vape*" morons get get out of comments like this.
isnt the vita/tv discontinued? not like sony would get any of that money anyway
But anon, you don't need to install anything piracy related, I'm literally just telling you that it's possible to make games that would otherwise work completely normally on the TV playable.
Yeah you should totally be giving this company more money
How come there's no #palistinianlivesmatter?
at launch i was very grumpy that there was no console-only version of the switch, and grumpy again when they did the opposite of what i wanted with the switch lite, but with time i think the idea of lazily gaming in handheld mode is growing on me.
still haven't bought one though.
Yeah. I sold my Switch years ago. Now the library actually looks good I've said I'll buy a home console version.
Yes, either at a cheaper price or with more powerful hardware
The switch gimmick is the sole reason I haven’t bought one.
I want a home console not some moronic half portable amalgam
The real gimmick of the switch is that it's the Wiiu pro, but you need to buy all of the Wiiu games again at full price
That's not an issue because no one had a Wii U
I did and do.
In the middle of a collection re-organize and clean now.
Yes. No Li-Ion battery - no worries.
If it was cheaper I guess. The only time I take it out of the dock is to play picross in bed.
But how will i play on the shitter?
Tendies will buy anything that has the word “Nintendo” on it
>i’m going to open this thread about something i don’t like and let everyone know i don’t like it
what the frick is wrong with you
>projection: the post
This, but Replace "tendies" with Steamies and "Nintendo" with valve
There's no point since I already own it but yeah I very rarely take it out of the dock as is
Yes, because all I want on it is that Virtua Racing port. Gay that you have to pay for the online to post times on the leaderboards tho. If only SEGA would stop being autisticly specific about porting their now niche franchises like Sakura Wars, Sega Ages and VF to only 1 fricking platform.
They could've included that in a yakuza game, considering Nagoshi designed it
emulate it
also, the PS2 version is better. It even supports force feedback if you have a wheel.
>Would you buy a screenless Nintendo Switch that plugged into the tv
Probably
>and came with the pro controller?
Definitely, assuming it was cheaper than buying individual ones
No because I only use the Switch portably.
I have had periods over the past seven years when I was using it almost exclusively in handheld mode, and others almost exclusively docked. I enjoy the option to do either and it's entirely possible I might enter into a handheld phase again soon.
The only value the Switch has to me is as a portable system. Otherwise, I have my PC at home, why the frick would I need this shitty box?
I already have a Switch, so not at this point. If it were available before I bought mine, it would depend whether it would be as easily hackable or not. Since it wouldn't have joycon rails then presumably not, so I would've bought one of the easily hackable regular models.
>Would you buy a screenless Nintendo Switch that plugged into the tv
Already have it
only good post iit
it'd have to be frickimg powerful and accept Switch cartridges.
>screenless device that plugs into a TV
you mean a computer?
if it's more durable with better cooling and maybe gets an extra USB port, sure. My switch's fan is loud as frick but I can't take it apart to change the thermal paste without breaking something because one of the shitty zinc screws stripped.
I genuinely never undock my switch except to paste screenshots to my computer
>shitty zinc screws stripped.
stop using cheap chink screwdrivers
But that's all you can find for the stupid tiny proprietary tri-wing screws....
And also Zinc screws should be illegal they're horrible
switchTV
SwitchBox
Switchcube
The only reason I got the switch instead of emulating on my superior PC, is because I consider it just another Nintendo portable, just another Gameboy/DS but with the bonus of being able to connect to a TV.
why would anybody buy this? it's a worse idea then a portable version (switch lite) of a portable handheld.
I would have if it was available when I bought my switch. I have 0 interest in the switch as a handheld
