Would you consider Diablo an RPG?

It doesn't really have dialogue options, or choices, or any sort of interaction. It's more of a shoot and loot. How is it different from Borderlands? Because the view is isometric?

In Borderlands you also pick skills and armor and stuff but i would never consider it an RPG
So how come some people see Diablo as an RPG? I'm trying Diablo immortal and it has a cool character creator but that's all there's to it.

Also isn't my Sorcerer hella cute? Still can't decide which class to play. In Diablo 1 I played Warrior and in Diablo 2 Barbarian, in 3 I played Demon Hunter because he's SUPER hot but maybe I should change to Crusader.

I am gay yes. And I'm extremely pissed the game has a character creator but a forced brown ugly portrait.

I spent 1 hour making a super aryan blonde only for him to look like this in the portrait

Ughhh I can't decide which class to play. I don't wanna repeat the same class. The BArbarian has a SUPER HUNKY BEAUTIFUL aryan man but i already played BArbarian in Diablo 2 and I don't wanna change my Diablo 2 character because the Paladin and Druid are HIDEOUS and I don't like the Necromancer there (and I don't see him as leader of the party)

So I guess that leaves Necromancer and Crusader. I think I could roleplay he's the cute gay incestuous dad of my Demon Hunter from Diablo III. But I can't decide if the Necro or the Crusader. I think I like the Necro better specially because the name is called Immortal and Necromancers are all about immortality.

But ughhh I love the concept of Crusaders and stuff. And I don't know which Class will I play in Diablo IV. Probably Sorcerer.

No. ARPGs in general were born to be braindead no-RP, no-depth versions of RPGs.

      Anonymous

No. They were designed to be RPGs taken to the extreme. RPGs are mainly about combat, and they are turn based because they're based on tabletop RPGs (which nobody plays for the npc dialog. Everyone plays for the dungeon crawling, the looting, and/or the adventure), but if you just speed all the calculations up, you get real-time combat. ARPGs are just RPGs taken to their logical conclusion.

This. "Story" and "dialog" is some gay shit. People play games for the killing and looting, anything else is for women and similar creatures.

More like a component taken by morons who don't know true role-playing but are addicted to dice rolling instead. CombatBlack folk or murderhobos are the savage, grug, lower-class of RPGs.

    It's a hack'n'slash, not an RPG.

Would I consider Deus Ex an RPG? Yes. Would I consider System Shock an RPG? No. Why? Because it doesn't have dialogue trees, so I guess that's my reasoning here I suppose.

So what's the logic? Considering you are a brown mutt from a third world shithole you'd think being represented by a poointheloo would at least be close to home. I guess outside the incest schizophrenia you are also, what, a self-hating racist?

Big homo, you should play point&click games, cyoa and visual novels instead, not stat and character builders. Why? Because you obviously will get the best experience out of this hobby that way. How is that? If you purposefully pick games that are going to make you upset, from genres that are obviously not what you're interested in then you are going to keep making the same threads filled with the same boring outrage that you're addicted to so much. So either pick the right genres for you, where you can fully enjoy the splendor of your degeneracy in your storylines and character representation exactly the way you wish or just drop the pretense and admit you're just a prostitute for attention. Then there will be no reason for this poorly facetious "theatrical" display in either case.

When did this mania of calling stat minmaxing games RPGs start? No, its not an RPG because you don't roleplay. Its an SMG - stat maxing game. And all those dogshit Bioware and Ubisoft turds are just action games with SMG elements, not fricking RPGs

  15. 2 years ago

No, I would say it's an action game with light RPG elements.

Diablo's pedigree is Rogue -> Roguelikes -> Diablo I -> Diablo II, so it's based off of a different style of RPG than the modern WRPG. If Diablo isn't an RPG, neither is Rogue or Wizardry.
