In a cruel twist of fate I kinda can't, because I've realized that in a way a lot of my characters are essentially the same idilic waifu whom I want to not just frick, but marry and have kids with. The names change but the idea is always the same.

But a question to you people who do, do you speak in a higher pitch? Back when I DMed I tried speaking in a high pitch when speaking for female npcs, but my players would always end up finding it funny.
I play female characters all the time and usually I just alter the inflections of my voice. I just speak in a softer, more gentle voice then my default one and that works for me and my players recognise the subtle difference.
Part of the process is confidence. I was unsure the first time I played a fem character and she was awful as a result but I did it a few more times and now I think I enjoy playing female characters more then males. DMd plenty too and the same stuff applied in terms of execution. You dont actually have to do a ''Womans voice'' you just have to do enough to notice a difference, hence why I think gentle inflections are better then doing a proper voice.

I have in the past paired my own characters together (aka paired me with my waifus) in the future I intend to play as one of their kids, who I will pair with another OC child of my other characters.
