Glitching is not the same as cheating. Did this person use some kind of external tool to change the game in any way? No, they simply exploited the game’s programming faults to get something they desired.

honestly, I wouldn't kill myself, but I'd be super fricking sad. But what I DO know, however, is that every single one of my pokemon games is now backed up in it's save file.
No losing a pokemon would probably be as hurtful or a little more hurtful than losing a pet.

I lost a Platinum cartridge that I spent ~490 hours on.
I didn't want to kill myself but I was VERY upset since that save file had an event Jirachi AND Shaymin on it.
i corrupted my emerald save as a kid by fricking up the tower cloning glitch.
also let my sister reset my diamond save when i didn’t give a shit about pokemon. the one hurts the most because i had all of my childhood mons from gen 3 and 4 on there

What is he talking about here? I didn't think the virtual console versions were available back in gen 4, and there was never any way to transfer mons from a GBC cart to a GBA cart

Well yeah it happened to me once:
I lost my Sun cardridge with 300 hours in it and tons of shiny I accumulated from Alpha Sapphire (Shiny Genesect, Shiny Arceus...)
I didn't play pokemon game for years but I eventually bounce back when I bought a platinum cardridge for nostalgia reason and I eventually acquired what I lost (plus the satisfaction that the shiny I got are mine and not from trade)

I can't count the many times I resetted my Emerald games.
I had shinies, good IV mons, good Natures. But why getting so mad over it? Is a file. You can copy it, delete it, rewrite it. And PKHex and game hacking tools made this way too easier.
I understand getting attached to some games, but at the end they are just lines of code. They aren't real.
