I simply don't like how it was shoehorned in. Understanding your faults and accepting them is something that *everyone* has to go through, not just the ones who want to mutilate themselves. There was no indication in the game at all that Madeline was a boy, then the DLC was like "Oh yeah btw look at this flag." It's disingenuous and frankly destructive to the narrative they try to write

I'm fine with the trans stuff, this game just elicits a viscerally negative reaction out of me regardless. I hate the pixel art, I hate the amateur character portraits, I can't stand the sound the characters make when they talk, and I despise the droning chiptune reverb. All of these little things add up to a game that just innately irritates me regardless of any transgender elements. I hate how this game sounds and looks.
I picked it up and played it way before that, so yes. Way back when the worst shitposting about the game was that it was about abortion, somehow. I disagree strongly with Matt's insistence that it's about transgenderism, the story doesn't have any hints about that and is clearly about defeatism.

The "troony" part here is not the devs and community, it's the game it setlf. The devs are not troonys here (they are tho), the game is. We live in the world where the world itself is a product of this "culture". The "soulless slop" people referring to, this is the product of this troony culture, a troony product. Nothing about this game to me, as an outsider, screams like oh it was made by troony, except the game it self, which does not necessarily need to be made by troony in the first place, yet they all follow the same formula that is too apparent.

Doesn't make a difference to me because I played it, beat it, and 100% it way before I knew anything about the devs being trannies or whatever the frick. Shame that that's the only thing people talk about when it comes to this game because it's fun, challenging, has a decent enough story and has really good music.
My only issue with the game was the length of most of the levels.

I still like it, does nothing to change the gameplay and the story is oddly anti-trans when you consider her other half being personified dysphoria. Seemed more about learning to accept how you are naturally instead of trying to force yourself to be something you aren't. Solid fricking gameplay with minimal cutscenes, really all I could ask for.
I like it and don't care about the dev or community because it's fun.
