They're just ports, not remasters or remakes. It's retro as it can get.

Yes but not those versions, they are unbelievably lazy ports that look bad and have input delay issues.

Got it on my Switch. Just finished 2 and it's even better than I remember. Best looking PS2 game by far. Haven't played 3 since it first came out and am also having a blast, forgot how campy it is and the survival stuff is cool on higher difficulty.

It's probably the easiest way to get the games now on modern systems so I say go for it. Metal Gear 2 is also included and it rules, first time playing through it and it's crazy how modern feeling it is.

I have them on my PC through other means but travel a lot for work so wanted to play them on planes. Honestly probably not worth it, the HD is nice but they're great looking games anyway.

I want to get it on Switch. I want to have each game as a separate download from the eshop since I heard the physical release just has you download most of it anyway. Is it okay to get the bundle, will each game actually be separate downloads, or is it better to get MGS1, MGS2, etc each seperately? I'm worried it will give me that "MGS Collection" thing instead of MGS1.

Do you people realize it's half the fps on Switch as on PS2? It's the only console version of this collection that runs at 30 fps lmao, it's trash

No, no it doesn't. Gameplay is actually affected as some visual effects like the rain and motion blur become different at 30 fps and much harder to see through, watch the DF video: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=PTnkQ7zrgII

Not to mention that you are running a 20+ year old game at HALF the framerate of what a console released in 1999 could muster... you have to be in absolute cope mode to find this acceptable.

I don’t know, I just like having them portable. I previously played MGS2 and Snake Eater on Vita without issue and I don’t think they ran at 60fps either.

Snake Eater on the Vita HD Collection doesn’t run at a locked 60fps. MGS2 targets 60 but often has drops.

Not everyone gives a shit about framerates. I originally played these games on a 13" CRT made in the late 80s. Does it PLAY well? That's all some of us give a shit about.

                Anonymous

The answer is exactly that it does not play well. And frame rate matters when you're producing half of what a 25 years old console produces. This isn't some stupid 120 fps vs 144 fps peesee gaming competition, it's about the fact that Switch is the only console that reproduces this 22 years old game in inferior quality compared to the original console.

Did you drop your boy panties and let Konami frick you in the ass after buying this half-assed collection? Literally the bare minimum they could've done was make MGS2 and MGS3 run at 60FPS on Switch. The Switch is slightly more powerful than the 360 and PS3 but weaker than the PS4 and Xbox One. MGS2 ran at 60FPS on the PS2. You can't tell me that MGS2 and MGS3 won't run at 60FPS on Switch. It's a pathetic attempt at shirking work by Konami since they put almost no effort into the collection.

Yes because Chuck Palahniuk was salty that the movie was better than the book, so he wrote it as a graphic novel to try and pull in movie-watchers and troll them. Problem being nobody gave a shit.

The movie's message is pretty much "make your own morality, stop being a slave to people who hate you" which is fantastic but every person who analyzes it seems to either think it's about why you should be a terrorist or why masculinity is evil and there's no in-between.
The "masculinity is evil" people also don't realize that people coming out of that movie loving Tyler was by design, another one of the movie's themes is about propaganda and the first half of that movie is basically a Tyler Durden propaganda flick.

    The short answer: Absolutely.
The long answer: Absolutely, but it depends on the platform and how you're going to play them. The Master Collection is pretty underwhelming, especially on PC and Switch. Personally think it's best to play the PS2 versions, and then the HD collection on PS3, followed by everything else. One exception being MGS1 on DuckStation with optional enhancements, it's like a dream.
