I started with the NES and even back then I knew that Tomb Raider controlled like anus after playing it on one of the yuropoor demo discs. I still have PTSD from that one demo with the cliffs and the tiger, solely due to the mutilated jump controls
how exactly would you fix the controls without completely changing the level design? the game's challenge is predicated on the timing of your jumps. it's basically a 3D Oddworld or Another World.

maybe play the games zoom zoom, there's a satisfaction to getting your jumps right that doesn't exist in modern games. if lara were built strictly for speed and agility the games would be less like raiding a tomb and more like knuckles levels from sonic adventure

Every now and then people when I mention how bad the controls are people cope by calling me a zoomer, but I played TR II when it was new and even back then controlling Lara felt goddamn awful. I did eventually get myself to adapt and play through the original trilogy 20 something years later, but I will never like the controls.

Might be my memory playing tricks on me but left doesn't look too different than how I remember Anniversary looking. If I don't have a comparison photo right next to her I would've just assumed it was nearly 1:1.
I always liked how quiet the original three Tomb Raider games could be. Most of the soundtrack is just ambience. Music used sparingly to highlight a moment.
