Where the frick can WoW go at this point? Every expansion tries to top the last one in more and more absurd ways. Shadowlands had the WoW equivalent of Satan as the final boss, and he was apparently manipulating the whole setting since Warcraft III. Between this and countless retcons, WoW's lore is a joke at this point. Nobody takes it seriously anymore, not even the writers themselves.
And the whole gameplay aspect is even worse. The only people still playing WoW at this point are either whales or addicts.
Legion concluded the story as far as I'm concerned, everything since it is just second-rate fanfiction. Shadowlands in particular has done so much damage to the established lore that "holy shit, it was all a dream!" is LITERALLY the only way they can save the setting at this point.

Raiding and mythic+ mentality ruined it. They pussied out on balancing PVP because they were afraid people wouldn't be addicted to the gear grind if they didn't need to get gear to compete. They need the addiction to progress because the content is garbage noone wants to do more than once if they don't need to. Get rid of the infinite grind and those playstyles will die quickly.
