Factions are a neat novelty but they don't really make any sense for an MMO, especially if one is just outright better than the other and there aren't really any concrete goals or rewards for meddling with eachother. It makes more sense with world PvP? I guess? But world PvP blows chunks unless you're a ganker.
That too, story-wise you have to repeatedly put up with the moronation of one side not actually getting any explicit advantage over the other or even really getting a lasting edge.
Yeah, it was based off of Dark Age of Camelot's pvp system, but that was a 3 faction pvp system, you really have to go hard into this system to keep is working and pvp has to be the focus of it. Hopefully factions are just gone so I can easily do things with people of both factions.

I really don't know what Blizzard can even do for retail at this point. It's just so far gone. It needs a full, from-the-ground-up revamp and complete overhaul and at that point they might as well just make another game or do something like SoD (which they are doing, MoP is just SoD in retail, using MoP).

The horde/alliance system only makes sense if: >world pvp or pvp zones existed, instead of hiding away under warmode >that world pvp contained objectives similar to warhammer, taking a castle in that zone/map >that factions actually impacted your ability to talk to a specific faction, instead of everyone understanding each other
its a novel system that only works if theres a flow on effect to how things impact the "WORLD" of azeroth itself, rather than just weapon/armor restrictions you get. a relic of a bygone era.
In my opinion WoW's factions are a good argument against the whole "living, breathing world" idea. It's too much bullshit to keep track of even among smaller communities for any one faction to have serious consequences on the actual larger game-world, breaking up the community and playerbase typically ends up just being arbitrary to force the idea, and it's largely incompatible with the actual game structure of an MMORPG insofar as it represents a major hurdle of inconvenience and conflict.

WoW players complain about being forced to do stuff. The actual content, the PVP, raids, dungeons, open world etc. are all top tier.

How are they thrown away? They're fun, interesting roadblocks to better gear. And besides, the first few bosses often do drop BIS gear. You have no idea what you're talking about.

FFXIV has barely more than a million or so players, those WoW player number leaked showed upwards of 7 million active subs. WoW is about to get rereleased in China.
No one gives a frick about FFXIV. No one talks about it, it has no appeal beyond its niche audience of sloppers who still play Final Fantasy games. FF16 was a massive financial disaster and the series is basically dead in the water. If Dawntrail flops like Endwalker Yoshit is done for.

He's always got really fricking nice cosplays, too, and he complains when he's got weapons in his hand that they're heavy. I'm pretty sure he gets real metal props and his costumes are made from real metal and leather, or real whatever kimono fabric is for the Samurai costume.

I want my skill use to be a “realistic” action and reaction to what I’m seeing happen not what dice rolls said is best. Also GCD locked is significantly higher skill cap, you spent your GCD on an interrupt now what do you change about the next skill which affects the next skill etc so you are optimally ready for bloodlust? That kind of intelligent gameplay is completely gone because EVERY spec has downtime so absolute fricking shitters don’t have to worry movement or interrupts will ruin their DPS meter position.

Yeah, it was based off of Dark Age of Camelot's pvp system, but that was a 3 faction pvp system, you really have to go hard into this system to keep is working and pvp has to be the focus of it. Hopefully factions are just gone so I can easily do things with people of both factions.

The horde/alliance system only makes sense if:

its a novel system that only works if theres a flow on effect to how things impact the "WORLD" of azeroth itself, rather than just weapon/armor restrictions you get. a relic of a bygone era.
In my opinion WoW's factions are a good argument against the whole "living, breathing world" idea. It's too much bullshit to keep track of even among smaller communities for any one faction to have serious consequences on the actual larger game-world, breaking up the community and playerbase typically ends up just being arbitrary to force the idea, and it's largely incompatible with the actual game structure of an MMORPG insofar as it represents a major hurdle of inconvenience and conflict.
