I, together with multiple friends in similar situation, returned to wow classic season of discovery after having a few year break from the game.
And oh boy does it still have the pull. Grown ass adult men over 30s timing their yearly vacation days to line with videogame seasonal launches. Hundreds of hours just vanishing.
Do you remember the last time you couldn't stop thinking about a videogame? Every day at work I'm just waiting for the hours to end, to get to log back in to classic wow. Of course some FPS and other games can cause this kind of feeling, this rush, but it is always short lived. With classic wow it is constant, permanent.
There is always something to look forward to. Everything from farming gold and gear to simple world pvp feels meaningful. There is no rating, there are no leaderboards, but it still feels like you're working towards something.
Season of Discovery phase 1 with lvl 25 level cap will end in around 2 weeks. There is still time for you to join, level up, and get on par with everyone else. The next phase will be from 25 to level 40, where it'll stay for a few months. New pve and pvp content, lvl 40 talents, STV.. Bros I can hardly wait.
It is time to come home mmorpg man. You can still catch up.

I actually agree, but it is mostly post-classic-vanilla problem. Also gold selling and gdkp is less prevalent in EU than US.

Why not give SoD a go? The whole purpose of the relaunch is to divert the game from future Blizzard created.
There is 17 days of phase 1 remaining, with the level cap of 25. Come and try, and find that the vanilla magic is still there.

Stop fomoing into trash streamer bait games like Palworld, or consuming limited duration games that have a beginning and an end. Modern games are just substitutes for books, interactive movies at this point.
Maybe you can play an fps or moba game for thousands of hours, most of the time not even enjoying, but despite the rage pressing on believing you'll someday be so good that people will be proud.
Or just return home to classic wow, to the immersion and enjoyment.

I know all good things come to an end but. I was kind of hoping it'd last more than just a couple weeks.
I hope next phase can revive it, but the next phase is looking like it'll be pretty bad so I'm concerned. Those 2-3 weeks in phase 1 were magical though.

I had fun throughout all of Vanilla, I just saw the writing on the wall when Burning Crusade was announced instead of Classic+. Eventually we were going to advance into what people considered to be WoW's downfall and people cheered it on.
people don't know shit. TBC was better than Vanilla in every single way, and Wrath was even better than that even though it was the beginning of the "end"
I did the same. And now I am back for SoD. It is the best shot at Classic+ we're likely to get.

I wish I could experience 2004 again, but it was 20 fricking years ago. I’ve got a wife and a son now. I’ve got responsibilities. I can’t afford to dump hundreds of hours into WoW again, but at least I’ve got good memories.
