It can hardly be topped in terms of content, QoL changes and important additions like m+ or spec identity. However, the class pruning and initial AP grind were terrible and I'd rather not go through it again.
Suramar still is, and will always be, the best zone in the game.

Lets not forget the ENTIRE PLOT of the Mechagon patch was dictated by them not wanting to rig armor to a robot torso. The 'good guys' mechagnomes are the ones who aren't full robot that you help fight vs the fully robotic ones.
Allied races would have been ok if they had been good choices. So far only Zandalari and Dark Iron Dwarves were any good.

The whole experience seems like it shifted away from being an MMO and moved towards this modern nu-MMO design where there's no challenge until the very endgame optional difficulties, no reason to get into a story that is almost comedically bad with the cutscenes and no reason to ever interact with anyone until you are level capped.
I came back to play a game that doesn't fricking force me through shitty writing to get to the good part but Blizz apparently decided shitty writing is what the competition did right so they have to copy it.
There's no reason to interact with anyone even AT endgame, other than in mythic raids. The social aspect of the game got completely gutted

Vanilla, TBC, Wrath. You had time to level and in the case of Wrath you had quests to work through so you could progress entire zones before you could open content. If you weren't socializing with people and finding connections that would later get you into raids whether you're in their guild or not you didn't really play the game.
Playing since mid-TBC and the only social interactions I've ever seen are nonstop ganking between the factions and Barrens chat.
Did you not run dungeons or join a guild? Good dungeon groups used to friend each other after runs and then contact them later when trying to fill a new group

They need to go the extra step and gut it entirely then return you to being a player in the world instead of the fricking chosen one. I went from EverQuest to WoW when it was new and back then it felt like both games had the same DNA. Going back to WoW in the first time in about 14-15 years was like a culture shock. It no longer has that DNA in it and what began in Wrath has full on snowballed into feeling like I'm being forced through a shit story you more or less solo and groupfinder your way through more akin to another game to get to the content behind all those obstacles. I played WoW for WoW and XIV for XIV. WoW has become XIV. Thanks I fricking hate it.
