does anyone know a WoW private server that's blizzlike and allows people to use slurs? (it's not like i actually want to use slurs a lot, i'm just sick of GMs who moderate speech beyond getting rid of spammers) preferably english speaking but i can do russian too. i dont really care what expansion or how big the server is
alternatively: does anyone know where i can look at a list of private servers? there's a bunch of websites that list them but theyre all severely outdated
I don't know of any sadly, but I'd like to voice the fact that I'm interested in the same thing.
I prefer vanilla WoW for the expansion, but certainly am tired of the overtly PC culture maintained by today's WoW GMs.

since you don't mind russian then obviously go for russian pservers. they are mostly wotlk though, wowcircle is one of the more popular ones and it has a sizable english speaking community.

it's possible, and i've considered it, bandwidth and storage doesnt come cheap. if it's advertised on Ganker, someone needs to be able to host at least 100 players' worth of clients. actually making the server can be annoying at first but it's do-able for pretty much anyone-- the real barrier is server hosting

It comes down to money like most issues.
If I thought official Classic WoW might start banning people for minor speech reasons, I would say "let's maybe start a go-fund me, and I'll be the first to donate to this new server cause", but official Classic doesnt even seem to ban gold sellers most of the time, so I still feel safe enough just sticking with that for now.
Having said that, if in my eyes the right WoW project got started with a very limited PC culture involved, I'd donate and support it.
i actually already have a server running vanilla if people are actually interested in a project like that, i could move it to a larger one and we could probably get something going

i played on it for a bit recently and the public chats were a nightmare. actually impossible to talk through the nonstop ads
im very interested. guild channels are fine but public channels are the real reason to even play mmorpgs
what does it take to get a larger public server going?
all of the technical stuff i pretty much have covered, pretty sure it doesn't take a ridiculous amount of resources and shouldn't cost me too much. getting people to play and keeping a good population seems like the hard part. advertising isn't my strong suite lol
One of the best ways I've found to advertise wow servers is, sadly, on the subreddit "WoW servers."
I imagine that advertising "NO CHAT RULES" might get a good amount of people interested.
I truly believe that most of society is fed up with PC culture. I believe there are more people who are anti-PC culture than there are for it, even on something as normie as Reddit.

Very good blizzlike server's when everything work. Don't play Circle, many bugs about no-one care like boss doesn't use abilities or dragons walk in midair.
