WoW SoD Melee Hunter.
I'm tired of it being treated as a meme. This is the chance for blizzard to right it's wrongs on how it's treated melee hunters since the beginning. Stop with the DnD bullshit of hunters being some fairy that fights from range with it's animal friends. A Ranger should be a cunning survivalist proficient in both melee and ranged combat. Let melee hunters be good for once. Let them beat the asses of warriors and rogues at melee and turn mages and warlocks into swiss cheese from range. Make lone wolfing strong. Pets are the training wheels for shitty players afraid of fighting by themselves. And no, "managing" pets isn't some hard skill.
Instead of a boring pet class that sits back like a coward. Have melee hunters be a dynamic spec that weaves in and out of melee/range depending on the situation. Using traps and tools to out maneuver his opponents. Melee hunters should be able to use any kind of weapon to get the job done. Pull out a gun to cripple the foe and then pull out dual blades or a big axe to finish the job, or maybe even a stave. All weapons are for hunters.
You can't argue against any of this. If you try, you're probably a shitty warrior/rogue afraid of competing against another melee class or a current huntard that thinks the class should remain as braindead as it's been. Not like I'm asking for the removal of pure (boring) ranged hunter.

Lone Wolf is in as a chest rune that makes you do 15% more damage when you have no pet. That'll probably be the best one for any group/raid pve content if you aren't a designated aspect of kings b***h.
Lone Wolf is only good if it's a fight where you can't use pets or the pet immediately dies to damage, but there are plenty of fights where this isn't the case. Flanking Strike is extremely strong and you presumably need a pet for it too. It's very unlikely that you aren't going to be using Lion anyway, unless Hunter is so meta that you stack them.
I would be surprised if we don't eventually get a rune that helps us with pet survivability. Either less damage taken from bosses or T5 2 piece bonus.
You need Flanking Strike for the melee build and it requires a pet. Aspect of the Hawk is useless for a melee build, so Aspect of the Lion is actually the best chest rune for pure melee.
How about they just frick off with flanking strike and add an ability that doesn't require a pet.
How about if you want to play a melee class without a pet you just go with something else

DnD rangers have functional melee builds. I would argue that there are more well known melee rangers than ranged rangers in different DnD worlds.

I was so interested in the survival rework when i first saw aspect of the hawk and then it turned out to just be a stupid utility cool down. Back to red mage I went.

Based. Rexxar is the whole reason I rolled an orc hunter back in the day. I hope DW is viable but I'll be happy if any version of melee hunter is. I actually liked when they put melee hunter in retail, although it should have been part of Beast Mastery and not Survival.

I wanna play priest but I just finished icc on my holy priest and sod priest looks like that but worse. Sell me on them besides the split into 3 move, which I admit does make them look fun in pvp.
