Hmmm, your problem is directly related to your armor set not being conducive to the play style you're trying to achieve, such as heavy poise and defensive stats. Anon merely stated he used the vets set because it probably has a lot of poise and defense, and suggests you use similar armor.
The reason he mentions Banished knight is probably because its a really early armor you can get in Godricks castle. Similar armor includes radahns, lionels(from the same city as margot) and interestingly Bull Goats, the highest poise and defense armor in the game, is from a side area from doing the first volcano mansion assassination, then doing patches quest. 2 side area quests you could have done before the royal capital, thus actually giving you a BETTER set than Veterans, a post Capital set.

If you take the time to actually learn the boss movesets, you’ll realize there are a FRICK TON of openings, even on the anime bullshit bosses like Maliketh, Malenia, Radahn, etc. Watch a singular RL1 playthrough and you’ll realize that you are simply just bad.
I actually think my RL1 club-only run is the most fun I’ve had in fromsoft games so far. The huge variation on boss movesets and figuring out those opening is like a puzzle.

I've been using the Godslayer Sword. It's a beast, but I haven't found a Somber Smithing stone 8 in like 30 hours so I can't upgrade it past +7. It delas black flame damage and has a long ass reach so you can tag enemies from far away. Its' weapon art has a 3 part combo attack, bretty cool you like "light" the sword up with black flame, and that deals damage, then you swing it all powered up, and that deals damage, and then you can follow up with another combo attack that deals damage.

Unironically nothing. The majority of Dark Souls threads at the time was lore discussion and tales of PvP. Since the former has been memed to hell in the games following and monopolized by a couple youtube morons, there's not much else to go on. The PvP is dogshit in Elden Ring largely due to the fact you disconnect from people 75% of the time on PC, and then the actual mechanics aren't much fun when you do get to stick around in the host's world. So the two biggest drivers of conversation for DS did not carry over to ER.

I'm like 160 hours in and I've done everything you can before beating Morgott, including Ainsel, Siofra, Lake of Rot and Deeproot (explored all volcano manor, didn't beat boss yet). I can honestly say I am addicted to this game and it is without a doubt one of my favorite games of all time, and my first systems were an NES and a Atari 2600. I've been hooked on other Souls games before, but none like this one. It's no question to me, anyone with overly vitriolic hatred towards this game is simply being a contrarian. As a matter of fact, I think I'll turn it on right now and keep playing.

It's funny because I always wonder the opposite, how can anybody explore this whole game and beat it in 60 hours. You'd have to be missing out on a huge chunk of the game doing that. Also, do you ever co-op? I like to put my summon sign down sometimes and help other people out. I don't know how many hours I've spent doing that, but a chunk of my gameplay time was dedicated to that.
Also, I promised myself I wouldn't break down and look up hints or tactics online, and I've been pretty good about that. Mostly when I've caved in I've looked up like questline stuff, like the steps for Ranni's questline. Do you play the game blind, or do you look up walkthroughs? Because that's the only way I can see getting through what I did in 30 hours, this game is just too big otherwise.
i explored a lot on my first playthrough but it took around 80 hours to get to morgott. i didnt explore it on the subsequent playthroughs because i realized about half way through the first play through that most dungeons and caves are just simply not worth exploring. no point in getting ashes i'll never use, weapons, scrolls, spells, crafting bullshit that are useless for my build or just useless in general.
If you got all in ng basically you explore to get the special weapons you want dual wield thats all and now with latest patch you dont care about the shopping unlock items you got it permanent

I played it for about a week and a half when it released and once I saw they were patching it and changing a million things, and seeing the patches listed on steam regularly with more lengthy lists, I realized the game wasn't finished and I would play it in a year when they've finally finished and changed everything. I am still playing the game, the more I play the more fun I have. Bosses are easy now and less frustrating since I know most of their mechanics and I am more prepared for them by the time I reach them. Personally, I like summoning people, and I like being invaded, it makes the experience much more fun.
Literally how do you co op with randoms? I've never been summoned and I've seen like one summon sign in my 100+ hours. Did everyone just choose some password I don't know about? I have 3 characters at rl ~200, ~100, and ~50 and I co op just does not exist. Feels dead as frick. Invasions certainly happen when I play with my friends, but no jolly cooperation.
You put your sign down, get summoned, and go play the game with them until you kill a boss or die.

The average Senran Kagura game reuses its player character as bosses, or Mary Skelter 2 is pretty much a 50% copypaste from the first game, and no one bats an eyelid. Elden Ring reuses bosses and cobtent, and it is the worst game ever.

My problem with ER is I don't find most of the areas to be that interesting or inspired.
Stormveil is way too big and empty. Leyndell is worse Yharnam/Irithyll. The open world is mostly empty and boring. Farum Azula looks cool but playing it is wiener and ball torture. The exceptions are Raya Lucaria and Volcano Manor and they're both kinda short.
The game has like 4 bosses, the rest is forgettable filler trash

Well I've been playing it for like 3 weeks now and I'm still in my first playthrough. Barely beat Morgott yesterday but I am the type who doesn't leave an area until I'm done.
So I had already finished Ranni's and Fia's quest line, and beat Mogwyn before even entering the Atlus Plateau.
It's the first time I've been this invested in an open world game. It's like Breath of the Wild, but it's not a chore.
I already dumped 400 hours into Elden Ring. This is by far the fastest I have reached that many hours in a game.
I am at 600 hours but it's mostly PVP. I stopped playing that shitty pve mode when I got to Leyndell about 40 hours in and realized the tutorial boss lol, frick that shit. Dropped instantly and went for PVP.

Ashes do make the game much easier, though. Even the early dogs you get are a huge breather for even the lategame bosses.
Many bosses and situations were clearly made for coop or at least a strong spirit ash in mind.

Nobody cares and using that as argument is shitter cope, summoning was always there to help shitters. It's the equivalent of putting very easy or having low score in arcade games. Elden Ring caused asshurt because now enemies require players to pay attention to what they are actually doing in a proper straight fight, in a game that forces committment to your inputs and adaptability to your own build rather than very basic and repetitive reaction checks, and this hurt fragile egos.
Sekiro has no summoning yet the combat is infinitely easier (and worse) as your positioning and committment to animation is nullified by how fast and versatile deflecting is, and the only measure of challenge comes from telegraphed and advertised perilious attacks. This is why the few bosses that break those rules and the prevalence of deflections are all the highlights of difficulty and consumables are tied to their easy mode strategy.

I mean Ashes were there for a reason, and some bosses like the Fire Giant, the Elden Beast, or simply situations where you face stuff like two Erdtrees at once, or a horde of undead enemies and a speedy hard hitting boss were clearly made with coop in mind. However since many people into souls likes are introverts who don't like interacting with other humans, I figured Spirit Ashes existed for them.
Elden Ring is the only From game I've played since Armored Core 2 on the PS2, so I can't comment on the other Souls game. What I can say is that if they didn't want you to use Ashes there wouldn't be a whole upgrading system for them and I doubt they designed the game giving the player the option to summon spirits and expect them to never use them.

The one with the dragonkin boss fight was my first experience underground (didn't kill radahn until after leyndell) and it felt like such magical exploration of forbidden forgotten spaces. Then there's all the melty looking stone figures around the skeleton. Surely this huge throned skeleton featured in load screens that dominates the set will have some sort of interaction. If not a boss fight maybe a covenant? Maybe it transports you somewhere?

Just constant stuttering. All the time. Some fights like Astel chugged so hard they were nearly unplayable. I had a couple of other friends who played the game on varying levels of hardware and they all experienced it to some degree as well. Im almost certain its the last-minute addition of EAC that’s messing with it, since disabling it does appear to make it a bit better

Sub 40% equip load giving quickstep that unlocks the dodge attacks would be nice too

If you love spamming R1 with longswords I guess, otherwise it's not as fun because there's no jumping, weapon arts aren't easily swapped around, and there's no guard counters.

i was profoundly disappointed when i finished raya lucaria, a magic school level think of all of the possibilities, moving staircases like duke's archives, hidden walls that lead you to secret unique bosses, rooms flip upside down like carian study hall, some frames that spawn some unique enemies idk but nope, one cool abductor virgin secret and thats about it, plays exactly like a standard city/castle level, frick you miyazaki
surprisingly accurate with a "significant" gap between demon souls and ds3
For real, Raya Lucaria was shit. Stormveil is literally the only half decent dungeon in the game, the rest ranges from bad to unplayable.
Bloodborne > Sekiro > Elden Ring > Dark Souls 3 > Dark Souls 1 > Demon Souls > Dark Souls 2.

Mostly base it on combat style and feel of the world and levels. I didnt have problems with buffer imputs and dont like using op shit like bleed or rot. I like how you can skip most of the content you dislike which made me replay ER the most. Sekiro had better base combat but just spamming deflect and do proper reaction to attack when red letter appears gets boring faster then actually watching the enemy do its moves and react to them all the time. DS1 I played remaster and it is pretty ugly design-wise and perhaps has the easiest bosses in the series but good progression. BloodBorne to me feels like undercooked DS3 where every level is just maye that either looks like London, spooky forest or nightmare realm, and the choice of having few weapons but more unique works terribly with their placement where you get most weapons at the end of the game, not to mention clunky big beast bosses. DS3 was alright, not good, not terrible, epic flashy bosses that felt good killing, good dead atmosphere, but thats about it, it was my starting game btw. DS2 is the last one because the core combat is just some of the worst in any game I have played. Everything feels like pillow fights and every time you hit enemy it sounds like some amature indie game dev made Unity game in a week and just spalled there random meat sound effect without checking if it feels right. This and the fact that it it also has unnatural slow animations would make even the best of games feel like trash. The lore, boss design, area design and creativity is DS2 is pretty good, but not enough to redeem the terrible player movement and controls.

The only thing I dislike about Elden Ring, aside from the boss recycling is how you get teleported to places you can clearly discover on your own.
Rather than an NPC marking a spot on your map it very inorganically drags your ass to a location.
To make things worse, every time this happens they usually have a boss outside of that location which tells me that the original intent was to have you discover the place by walking since said boss is clearly Guarding the location (I.E Black Gargoyle outside of beast church)
It's also sort of story criticism but with this game, unlike souls games you have a bunch of different factions with opposing goals and it never feels right agreeing to all of them. You're working with the fingers in one breath, swearing your allegiance to mohg in another, or joining the blasphemous serpent family. None of these actually cause changes to NPC behavior from what I can tell.
I'm still early on but yeah I looked up what those teleporters were after getting warped t Mistwood and immediately decided to never use one again except to get revenge on that Grafted Scion in the notAsylum.
It's not just that, some NPCs will do the same shit. Rya sits around and then drags you all the way to Volcano Manor. Kills the exploration for the sake of ensuring your character commits to quests.

Dark Souls had a staggered release between multiple consoles. Elden Ring released all at once.
Not to mention that the "LOREPOSTING' scene didn't happen into a few months after Dark Souls was popular, so we didn't have people analyzing every pixel until a while later, which led to further discussion. With ER, people were trying to figure out lore from the first trailer drop

No matter what you think about Elden Ring - watching bleedgays crying over getting filtered by Radagon/Elden Beast was totally worth it. It counts as double funny because Radagon/Elden Beast are pretty easy.
The illusion had to break at some point, Elden Ring was a disgusting piece of shit of a game, and I'm a Fromdrone who thinks that Dark Souls 1 is the best game of all time.

I played the frick out of Dragon's Dogma. Also it suffers from similar issues as Elden Ring but due to being scaled down and the ease of class changing it's not as easy to get burned out on it.

Try new ds3 overhaul mods. Some are pretty autistic but some are alright. For the most different experience go for Hollow Overhaul mod. I'm waiting for such mods for ER
No replayability whatsoever. Bosses are so overtuned that fighting them with anything less than Bleed/Sorceries and +10 Ashes is the simply fricking tedious. Shit PVP also kills replayability.
Open world meme shit is overrated and always dies out without mods even more so when its a fricking from game trying to do it.
