>I don't even know what the complaint is here
they're not employing a bunch of failures with useless degrees to keep the system from collapsing
every company must do it's part.
It’s factually untrue. They have hundreds of employees from one small geographic already and it’s unlikely they are close to being the top possible candidates for their pre-existing roles as is. Just a silly thing to say I think.
>from one small geographic already
this would be a good point if you think geographic value doesn't exist and that everyone from every region and country have the same values and opportunities.
i thought it was more like 1000. oh well it says "reportedly" which means they made it up. basic clickbait shit that op gobbles down every hour by the hour
But I thought the law always sided with trannies? What gives?
>make source 2 >release like 4 games on it 2 of which suck cs2 is ok and maybe modded alyx >proceed to basically do frick all with it in over a decade of development >???
what am i missing here
>make source 2 >release like 4 games on it 2 of which suck cs2 is ok and maybe modded alyx >proceed to basically do frick all with it in over a decade of development >make billions without making games
Seems like the smart thing to fo
>Courts sides with the company instead of the grifter trying to scam the legal system into giving him money for free
Yeah that’s definitely a case I would also side with the corporation too.
>legal system sided with the billion-dollar corporation over the regular person
Valve literally just lost a court case last week in the EU. You look quite moronic at this moment.
I like to clock trannies and show vibrant enthusiastic support to their face and interlace subtle insults and realistic comments about their actual progress and lack of passing throughout. IE: I wish I was as brave as you, I worry too much about passing.
hey yeah, i got into my language's steam translation group. i haven't translated shit after i got a couple of product pages for some tiny indie games published though, only did that for practice and anyone expecting more than that is a fool.
Yeah i'm sure they needed the top best programmers to make up that absolute fricking shit change on Steam layout and the fact now it takes more time to close than before.
Fricking kek
Does it really matter anyways?
Vidya wise valve has given us artifact (LMAO), half life for index, which no one has or cares, and yet another update to their special forces themed cassino.
All their other stuff aside from maybe the Steam Deck sucks ass, what is the point when they don't make good games anymore nor give good support to their already existing ones unless there's a buttload of money involved? Money which they probably don't even need because they have a tight grip on the entire PC market
You could hire all supposed 10.00 "valve tier" devs and they would deliver nothing of value.
yeah the latest steam update is ass, only good thing to come out of it was the custom banner for games
>half life for index, which no one has or cares
Sorry you're poor.
Anyway, Valve wants people like the VFX developer who spent his weekend implementing liquid simulation shaders in Alyx without asking just because he wanted to see if he could. That's the talent and drive they want.
You might not know this because you get paid hourly, but nobody who's salaried technically works "for free." You just get paid the same whether you work on the weekend or not, and if you're the type of person who's motivated to create in your spare time and improve something you enjoyed working on, is it really work? But you'll never know anything like that.
>liquid simulation shaders in Alyx
That shit is bizarre
Especially when you remember how low Alyx graphical requirements are for graphics it does
Like it really rare breed of the devs that are capable of using math in game development these days
They had a really particular philosophy for the shader development on Alyx. Like, I've forgotten pretty much all the actual details from that one presentation about it, but they had dozens of slides in a row that were nothing but diagrams analysing specular aliasing.
Valve is still employed by industry vets were "good graphics" meant having genius physics and logic developers. The liquid shader isn't even that complex in concept but there's no other company out there that has the brainpower and determination to pull that shit off. Alyx looks better than any game to have come out since its release except maybe TLOU2. Not because its demanding, but because it was made by smart people.
Are valve even working to begin with?
If yes, on what?
DOTA 2 is abandoned, CS2 still need a whole year in the kitchen, and TF2 is pretty much bot town.
Their games are painfully mid, at best. Do they really think they are the top of the game?
McBlack person is a gossipmongering cuck but other more trustworthy leakers found the same code as well.
It's all right there for people to scrape the engine and see.
>steamdeck and steamos shit (and all the shit that entails like working on proton or whatever) >cs2 and source2 >alyx before that >index before that >the rumored half life game and the other game that i forgot >steam itself
>Are valve even working to begin with?
yes >If yes, on what?
games that they're never gonna release because they interally ran out of steam (lol) while making it so they just decide to shelve it and never tell anybody about it
Unironically valve is right now
1. Writing kernel drivers
2. Writing a Win32 compatibility layer
3. Writing anticheat
4. Making Hardware
Game engines and Software stores are mostly done and stable
Holy frick, weren't you just dicksucking valve in another thread just minutes ago? Is it possible for you to stop sucking valve wiener for just 20 minutes?
Their store is top of the game already.
It even has: emulators, soundtracks and production software, without mentioning the overwhelming quantity of games, and with regional pricing too.
Though some shit flopped like the Steam console and artifact - while other stuff has pretty much come in a beta state like CS2.
Valve is at the top of the gaming industry, no store comes close to Valve's, almost every game they launched has been a massive success and a cult classic, and now the Steam Deck is making Linux gaming a real bearable thing.
It's still a company a should be treated as such. MTX and market shit has become more prevalent because of CSGO, and F2P live service shit games is what they do now. So they are not clean
gaming on linux was already existant by wine and native games, valve just made some basic compatibility layers which they contracted someone else to do them by morons getting angry instead of making or by the wine tards not implementing already existing fixes and having to compile them personally.
>half life alyx >steam vr >steam deck
Way to conveniently ignore some of their most recent work, at least you named cs2 though i guess
Valve is still a power house and youre still an eastern incel
>dota 2 biggest gameplay update of the past 2-3 years, reworked menus, behavior score, and player profiles >cs2 released, fundamental smoke changes, every map got a facelift, new netcode, new anticheat, every single night theres an update for bugfixes >steam os 3.5 for the ick and eck coming to main branch soon, improved performance, display color tuning, desktop mode update >new vr headset in the making, new steam controller, steam machine 2.0 >steam
yeah frfr, valve is totally not bussin it down bro, they didn't release le hats for dota2 so its abandoned, cs2 didnt release in a state that csgo is after 10 years, and they didnt release le hl3
the thing is that they should stop making multiplayer games and make more fun games like a real half life 3 or if they don't want to make hl3 left 4 dead. >turt-
turtle rock didn't do shit aside from the concept, literally valve devs fixed the idiocy of some concepts and made the arcade style gameplay, i would still like to see the interesting ideas of turtle rock but that is solved by talking to employees who want to give ideas to valve working for a bit and contracting them rather than throwing l4d onto the trash.
valve employees are famously allowed to work on whatever they feel like, which is partly why they're based but also why they're lazy and dont really make much
I work at Microsoft and it's spot on. I get paid 180k to sit around and do absolutely fricking nothing. Meanwhile Google and Amazon recruiters keep hitting me up on Linkedin. I'm a well fed lazeabout right now. Its' weird.
>they pay you so competition doesn't get you >you don't have any proper work to do so your skills rust and get worse, behind times with new tech >suddenly you are removed from the pool of viable workers
>they pay you so competition doesn't get you >you don't have any proper work to do so your skills rust and get worse, behind times with new tech >suddenly you are removed from the pool of viable workers
is correct.
You gotta stay sharp if you wanna be hired in the future, while we ALL wanna be paid to sit on our arses and game at work doing frick all, you can't maintain that forever and you'll frick yourself over if you do.
when no one is the boss, then everybody is the boss, and can choose to do whatever the frick they want
everything we've heard about the various HL3 development leaks tell us that a small group of passionate people in the company manage to get enough other people on board to make it with them, then team members start losing interest and choosing to work on other thing (because there's no boss to tell them no) until the project just falls apart because it's down to a skeleton crew and they all agree to forget it because it's not feasible with what's left of their team, and apparently this exact process has happened about 3 or more times
I used to love Valve, but nowadays they are shit as game developers, and not because of anything to do with the game's quality (they are usually still above-average), but because they can't actually work together anymore to make something that isn't just essentially a fricking remaster of their existing games, we will never get a REAL new IP from them and we will never get the sequels we all want because they left it too long and now the expectations are crushing them
I still think steam is the best online marketplace, but I think a large part of that is due to how absolutely fricking AWFUL their competition is, they can't even copy steam's current features let alone come up with something that steam doesn't do that would make them stand out
I'm just ranting at this point, but I'm just so fricking disappointed in Valve
>I still think steam is the best online marketplace, but I think a large part of that is due to how absolutely fricking AWFUL their competition is
the competition is awful because steam has an almost 20 year start on them. for better or worse they ironed out a lot of their issues before the internet exploded and online commerce became as big as it has
that said, you're right. why the frick aren't these companies simply copying what makes steam work?
> since steam prints money
So did Enron.
Enron let you literally BET on the fricking weather. You could be insured for blue skies and sun on your wedding day, and if the heavens opened up and it pissed down with rain showing everyone the brides bra and knickers, you were in for a big payday. Only Enron never paid out, because it had the most advanced meteorological and weather predicting stations in the world at the time.
neat, i wonder if we're actually in for the valve being turned or if it's just speculation based on prior events
Enron was a publicly traded company, they got in trouble for "creative accounting" to artificially boost stock price so executives could make a ton of money selling it. It did not explode because employees reviewed each other.
No, but that peer review tactice was directly borrowed from Enron. It was proven that it did not work because staff would falsify work to justify being employed there. Which is exactly what Senior devs at Valve do. > Oh hey yeah Gabe we're working in Left 4 Team Dota 3! It's going sooooo well. > Can I see it? > Uhhhhh well no... we just uhhh we scrapped it yeah 🙂 We're on a different project now. Hehe...

I'm going to let you in on a little secret, senior devs don't do shit at any company
9 months ago
Anonymous
Nah, senior devs are just more often than not just tard wranglers for PMs and new devs.
>that said, you're right. why the frick aren't these companies simply copying what makes steam work?
There's a "we have to see some number go up right away to prove it works" mentality in most companies, so they'll rush out a product out to market and demand that the users number goes up before investing in actually making the product better. This strategy can work of course (early Steam was awful), but only if it's a new market where you don't have a competitor who already owns majority market share with their product.
>internal politics
how? They don't have a boss to answer to
Turtle rock was the reason it was even good though.
it was both, turtle rock gave the exaggerate ideas and the gameplay mechanics and valve just fixed some very small quirks.
thinking about it i remembered that new turtle rock isn't the og turtle but new employees which don't have anything to do with l4d, most original left 4 dead employees are still on valve so they don't have any reason to not develop it with original ideas and make bhopping an intended mechanic so it's even cooler.
>internal politics
how? They don't have a boss to answer to
the issue isn't that there isn't any boss but that the company gives benefits to people if they work on "new projects" (not profitable, new)
this makes you have a false sense of choice which in turn causes you to just do steam or vr because the company gives you better pay, gets you more status onto the company and by everyone not having a real developer initiative by just uniting another team do derrail they will make moronic cults of personality.
in general they should just give a only pay and stop the STI situation by removing moronic flip flopping with the past defining that non labeling shit as "unique and new" before anything does.
>valve employs 10k people >some c**t called Hirun Cryer sends his CV to valve >rejected >Valve thinks as little as 10,000 people in the whole world have what it takes to work for them
wasn't their team like 300-400 employees for an absurdly long amount of time? what's their team size now? also how much money is everyone getting paid there since Steam is legit a free money printer?
Still around the same size. IIRC the pay isn't insanely higher than other AAA studios, but they get a frick ton of benefits and vacation time. Including a yearly 3 week vacation in hawaii.
The way it works is, you are a super-pro who can do his job really well and fast and in return, you get a quite high wage and lots of perks and free time. That's always been the deal amongst tradesmen who do their jobs well. You have zero experience and don't know how to do shit? Too bad, then you just have to grind for years and years and work crazy hours for shit money in order to get that precious experience. Hell, a lot of places don't even give newbies that chance, to begin with. So even if people are prepared to work hard, they don't even get the chance, to begin with.
Also, i forgot to add, the vast majority don't have the pure raw talent required to become a top tradie, you need to be born with it. It's a bit like getting ripped won't make you into a chad. You're either born one, or not. When people say "we can't all be special" this is what they mean.
Yeah, that's also a problem in gaming. I worked for Microsoft right out of college. I was in the building next to Valve's and would talk to folks there sometimes when we were hanging outside getting lunch.
They made less money than me, work didn't sound way better or anything, mostly folks doing database or web dev stuff. That's consistent with a lot of the game devs I talked to in Bellevue WA.
So, less pay, not really better work for most of them. The game industry has this issue where talent tends to leave for better money (or indie if they're driven) and so the people left are sort of iffy programmers who are so desperate to work in games they're willing to take a pay cut.
Valve are known scammers who commit false advertising and fraud and I hope they are formally prosecuted by the Federal Trade Commission and every last person who works there goes to prison.
Valve screwed over the Artifact fanbase by cancelling the Artifact 2.0 beta without even allowing users to invite friends like they said they would in January 2021 and does not deserve your financial support for these gross consumer-unfriendly practices.
>NOOOO YOU HAVE TO HIRE Black folk, TRANNIES AND WOMYNX BECAUSE DIVERSITY IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN EVERYTHING
valve is one of the last good video game companies for a reason and it makes journos seethe
they're no different than EGS (which may i point out is a rearrangement of ESG), they just hide from criticism behind a overblown reputation from 15 years ago
One of the last good video game companies wouldn’t lie to its community.
In March 2018, Gabe Newell held a presentation on Artifact claiming there would be regular expansions, an eventual mobile release, and a $1 million tournament, all of which ultimately failed to materialize.
In August of that year, Gabe Newell repeated the claim of an Artifact tournament during the opening of The International: https://youtube.com/watch?v=X4xYOmUwad0
On March 30, 2020, Valve announced Artifact Beta 2.0, stating they planned for a closed beta (which happened), transitioning to an open beta and later full release (which didn’t).
On March 4, 2021, Valve formally abandoned Artifact. No expansions, no mobile version, no million-dollar tournament, not even something as basic as allowing users to invite friends to the beta like they said they would.
The only thing necessary for evil triumph is that good men do nothing. I will never stop.
Valve screwed over the Artifact fanbase by cancelling the Artifact 2.0 beta without even allowing users to invite friends like they said they would in January 2021 and does not deserve your financial support for these gross consumer-unfriendly practices.
>make source 2 >release like 4 games on it 2 of which suck cs2 is ok and maybe modded alyx >proceed to basically do frick all with it in over a decade of development >???
what am i missing here
Artifact does not suck. It is excellent. Artifact’s expansions on Dota 2’s setting and lore were amazing. Peak soul. There were times I actually felt like I was commanding the epic fantasy battlefield the cards depicted. I’d never had that feeling from a card game before, not even Magic.
When I looked at the menu, saw Jolixia’s caravan in the distance at night while the music took me, for a fleeting moment it felt like I was home.
It is fricking criminal that no one recognized the reference and complimented you for it. Then again, most on this board are probably younger than that fricking movie.
This here everyone, is someone that achieved so little in their actual life, they have placed all their value in the ability to recognize a movie they watched.
What about the Asian women getting paid to send emails and swag bags to influencers before spending the rest of the day eating while recording "my average work day at blizzard" videos for tiktok?
>Must have a bachelor relevant field >Must be a US citizen >Must speak and read English fluently >Must have examples of work >Be able to perform task while being monitored for performance
Yeah only 10,000 ppl able to meet those requirements makes sense. India might have 4 Milluon coders, but look how Starfield and the GTA 3 remasters turned out.
If valve thinks only top 0.00000001% deserve to work there means they're delusional makes sense why their service nowadays are shit cuz only delusional people work there
I know people who worked there they are not in the said above percentile probably within the 1-10% percentile
People in these level of percentiles can make their own company, make patents, bring new tech aka all the top funded tech companies and startups that's where the top people are which valve has done none of these for 2 decades now all valve introduced was store front, loot boxes, battle pass, steam integration. Drm, forked wine proton none of these are impressive compared to people/companies who advanced graphics in lighting ray tracing for eg
Top talents wouldn't even want to work there cuz of compensation and company culture on sucking superior dick more than any other companies
>valve introduced was store front, loot boxes, battle pass, steam integration. Drm, forked wine proton none of these are impressive compared to people/companies who advanced graphics in lighting ray tracing for eg
wrong
All the cope defences for valve is funny
Valve will never ever compensate more than a million unless you're a senior in the industry other companies compensate more benefits and income than valve for even juniors if you're capable and talented like few of the other anons have mentioned
Valve always underpays in the industry that its has become a joke you don't go to Valve for payment only for prestige or tickmark for career advancement all of these are good markers for environment for no innovation
I haven't seen innovation from Valve for more than a decade now
Valve does not do anything on Linux, the GitHub history shows zero employees doing work.
shh you don't want to make valve people mad here
Its true most of the proton works are not done by valve employee but by other volunteers and individuals like
>make good mods >get hired
It's THAT easy.
and fact that they also hired
They hired the Firewatch guys.
kek
Firewatch devs don't work for valve games they work in game store maintenance and support
The sooner people stop sucking gaben wiener and valve the sooner we will get golden era of gaming but I fear that will never come with troglodytes infestations
>gang initiation - game of knockout
Do these fart sniffers even listen to themselves? It reminds me of an old road safety doc made for kids where the kids are in a "gang" called the cars because they are so fast innit.
Heh, sounds like SOMEONE didn't study and work hard enough in school.
They want the best instead of the worst? The cream of the crop? Oh no who could've predicted that... They don't want a loser like you...
Heh.
I can assure Valve that there are far more than 10,000 lazy, incompetent workers with shit taste in video games in with no idea how to fix their awful interface
They know if they opened the doors the same homosexuals that destroyed other companies from within will come right through. We already have this Youtuber who worked for Valve and he whined about the lack of diversity.
>"But we got programmers, artists, writers, and engineers. We have a pretty diverse group of workers here" >"We will take anyone that has the skills and knowledge that we need. Just send us a resume and will get it a look!" >REEEEEEE!
>valve filtering out and telling the vast majority of poo in loos, diversity "tech" hires, useless female """""""programmers""""""" and twitter troony techgays to frick off
You literally cannot find a publically owned company saying something like this. Based Gabe Newell.
if are the top 0.1% big brain skillful homie why would you go work for valve instead of something like microsoft or apple who will pay you triple the salary?
Because I wouldn't have to put up with diversity hires, trannies, women and mentally unstable "engineers". Some things are just not worth the money. At least at Valve I'd be dealing with the top 0.1% and wouldn't have to avoid stepping on eggshells when asking for anything at all.
Even though they won't, I wish they'd show us their canned projects.
Most of the ideas and concepts and artwork while developing half life 2 ended up being way cooler than the final product and I'm curious as to what they've thrown out.
The lost decade they got, full of unrealized big projects, all the concept arts and such. Their flat management model was a mistake. >2 different versions of Half-Life 3 >2 different versions of Left 4 Dead 3 >A.R.T.I. (Minecraft clone) >Soulslike/Monster Hunter clone based from Dota 2 universe >SimTrek >Borealis VR >Half-Life 2 Episode 3 >F-Stop
What a damn waste
>devs have an idea for a game >commission some drawings >idea never goes any further >concept art leaks years later >"OH NO THEY SCRAPPED THIS GAME THAT WAS PRACTICALLY DONE"
If their standards are so high then why don't they make more games?
CSGO 2 just came out and it's a glorified texture pack with some new lighting, removes a bunch of shit, wipes everyones progress, and then they say only the best of the best can work for them. What a joke.
They better be working on HL3, if I don't see it within the next few years, there'll be nothing to convince me they aren't just sitting around eating chips and playing left 4 dead all day.
Not arrogant. Most of the people who want to work in video games are troony moron homosexuals and other leftists who don't like video games, but just want to put in leftist propaganda in their games to brainwash the masses.
Good mentality from Valve to kept the leftoids away from their company.
other way around, Black folks would prefer not to be involved in the pride stuff (they're not gay, they just have anal sex with other men). but the quiltbags added in the Black stuff to outwoke each other.
tim cain said he made fallout 1 with "the worst" interplay employees. interplay assigned to him these guys, so they have something to do, and (except one guy, who was fired) they made fallout with tim.
Its absolute clickbait article.
I wonder how many accidental keypresses you get.
Who the frick needs a keyboard on a handheld when everything is a touch screen now.
Do they imply you need to put it on a table and use it like a mini laptop?
They aren't wrong. Valve's hiring and work ethics have been known since the early 2010s and they are basically the "high class film university" of the video game work. You don't do a lot once you go to them, but to get there you have to be rich, have an insane amount of previous work and at least one miracle project, and despite the "desk have wheels" propaganda, working on anything that isn't liked by the company vets results in an instant firing. That's how Kim Swift got the boot privately.
The only reason Half Life Alyx happened is because 2 Valve veterans got invested into the idea and whipped everyone else into shape.
They got infinite moneys, they don't care. Valve's goal with VR is to encourage the industry to do more flagship VR games so people buy VR units, regardless if it is the Index or not.
The same way people will get a PS5 only for Sony exclusives, Valve wants to convince people to get a VR headset for games like HL:A, then they can monetize more VR projects and basically become the top of a developing market.
I hear the non vr mod basically supports all the features now, though its still a far cry from playing it in VR cause the entire sense of realistic scale the world has is gone on pancake.
I understand that. I just think those games are getting overshadowed with shit. there are very few games I'd want to play on vr. maybe a really good flight simulator like DCS would be cool, but I can't seem myself spending money on technology that has only a handful of good games.
Mod so you can just play it normally with mouse and keyboard. What sucks is it doesn't work with any of the workshop campaigns so do what you will with that info.
Mod so you can just play it normally with mouse and keyboard. What sucks is it doesn't work with any of the workshop campaigns so do what you will with that info.
She had her own ideas for a potential Portal sequel and made the mistake of trying to work on that when the higher ups wanted her to work on other things
I worked with a guy who was in the same class as Kim Swift at DigiPen and he said she was a hack, that Narbacular Drop wasn't even her idea she just took credit for it. No idea whether that's true or not, though, he could've just been bitter.
Its true though. Dont put pussy on a pedestal and act like they aren't good enough to have you, and the woman brain turns into a frenzy. This is only heightened the more ugly you are
From a technical perspective Source is a very impressive engine. They clearly have very talented programmers on their team. I wish they didn't become a microtransction and e-sports company.
>nooooo you must hire the migrants! stop being racist against Black folk!!! >why isn't valve publicly traded this is so antisemitic!!!
Frick israelites.
I want to kill this homosexual with my bare hands, I feel a primal urge to do it. Like seeing this insult to the entire species drives me to dig my thumbs into their neck and press until they foam and seize and die as they deserve.
very based, but try not to glow too hard when expressing your deep contempt for this untermensch anon. We all think the world is better off with such men killed by a beta-super disease that kills off men with high soi-levels in their blood, but sadly nobodies invented that one yet.
>look we can't hire you Mr John carmack because you dropped out of college we have a standard to maintain such as uhhhhhhhhhh a mod for a 2000 games and uhhhhhhbh another mod for a 2000 game
Carmack was a bad choice to cite here, because there's legitimate bad blood between Carmack and several top level Valve old guard. Valve would never give Carmack an officer and Carmack would never accept one.
What exactly was the letter about? Was it a 'personalized' apology or did they list out your shortcomings and rub your face in all the negative aspects of your resume?
They apologized and said that they were looking for someone with more academic experience, and they responded to some things that I said in my cover letter and said that they thought it was cool and that they were sure I would find a sweet job. I was applying for a position as an economist when I had a double major in finance/accounting with a minor in econ. In my cover letter I basically said that I didn't really care about the games industry because it wasn't great anymore but that I loved stuff like brood war and quake 3 because they were actually good games, and as a result I was willing to throw my hat in the ring with Valve. I then said if not I would just go to wall street
Being good at playing a certain character in a video game is valuable, but I think I’ll take the 200+ collective years of professional game design experience
What I can say — perhaps, but you, Valve, aquired a bunch of absolute hacks, I meand devs of Firewatch, one of the cringiest games ever. Fire Vanaman, fire everybody who came from Campo Santo, and then we can talk.
>is a shader genius
Well, maybe, but I don't remember any good shaders in Firewatch. Get the guy, cansel WE WUZ game, but then just don't let Vanaman write anything important.
I unironically think that if Looking Glass still existed and was making the kind of games of the quality they actually made back then, there would be less than 10 000 people in the world with the mindset required for working for them and producing the kind of stuff that is expected of them You need to 'get it', and you need to care so much about what 'it' is that you simply want to create that thing, never for the paycheck but because that's something you want to exist.
There aren't many people out there who would work hard while under no direction or pressure, with infinite money that will not stop if you stop working
Any subhuman indian monkey is able to do a better job then what is happening now with Dota2 and CS2. Games are literally in a half-functioning states for weeks. They only get away with that because pcbros would eat any garbage thrown at them. Literally EA does a better job with games.
But, if we are speaking about israeliteing strategies - I completely agree. There are less than 10000 people in the world who are that good at israeliteing to work at Valve.
poojeets are only acceptable for webdev and even then only because no one cares how shitty a website runs because they all run like shit
they're incapable of writing efficient code
Why are you tards so obsessed with pajeets and troons. There are barely any fricking pooinloos at Valve to begin with.
They have like literally one black dude who is a godly animator that used to work at pixar. And the rest are white guys, asians, and europeans. A handful of women and a bunch of very autistic linuxtards.
>Hire only the best >Surprised when no one can finish a project or maintain an old one
Rockstar programmers being valuable is a myth. Google goes through a round of hiring and firing every year because they can't herd these type-A personality autists
I don’t have any particular problem with Valve as a consumer but from everything I’ve heard it seems like a pretty awful place to work. I mean the lack of crunch is pretty rare in game dev but it seems like such a directionless mess of a company internally.
Alyx was great, what are you talking about? The gameplay was fun, it was an actual GAME and not a half-baked "VR experience," and it was a Half-Life lorehound's dream. The visual storytelling in the Northern Star alone finally gave us what Raising the Bar hinted at nearly 20 years earlier.
They did not. It’s literally just another “dude, Valve said Marc Laidlaw consulted on Half Life Alyx (because they casually mentioned Laidlaw once exchanged personal emails with some former coworkers)” fake meme.
Yeah, Robin Walker grabbed pretty much the entire studio and forced people to work on it. They couldn't do that "wheel your chair away if you don't like it" shit. It's crazy that in The Last Hours of Half-Life: Alyx, it was mentioned that some developers had been hired on at Valve for years and never released a single thing.
There were probably people there who never shipped anything at all, not even a sticker. Valve's had enough discarded concepts to fill a graveyard, but the studio's always been like that, ever since Prospero.
>steam has schizo rules on what it does and doesn't allow
They're a private entity that can enforce whatever batshit rules they want. They aren't even beholden to ESG or anything like that. They work entirely based on whatever company policy they wish to have. A different company with different values would enforce different rules.
That's also why things such as Nexus Mods only supports certain forms of degeneracy and not all, and that's why Basedmods only supports other forms of degeneracy and not all.
has schizo rules on what it does and doesn't allow >They're a private entity that can enforce whatever batshit rules they want.
What you said has nothing to do with what I said. See yourself out of my board.
That's probably right, there's likely ~10,000 people in the world who have the patience to work for a company that will never release anything they're working on.
I would be perfect for Valve. I can come up with ideas forever without actually acting on them, I am great at not working on games, and I can easily deny ero games arbitrarily with no set standards and at complete whim.
>specific game
Evenicle 2
Dungeon Travelers
fricking Chaos;Head
Muramasa
hundreds others
I just picked the ones that all had PSP releases except for Evenicle
>isn't openly predatory. >mmm, what's that? a negative review? we shall dub it "review bombing" and thus invalidate it
Also someone is blissfully unaware on how valve "convinced" people to get on steam
valve forced people onto steam when it just launched by buying CS WON servers and shutting them down, forcing people who wanted to continue playing CS (and there was a lot of them) onto steam, to give it that initial kick.
They're the epitome of predatory, no matter what the fat frick says.
"Sit around doing nothing" is only a perk for the senior guys who have been around since the Half-Life and Half-Life 2 days. Newcomers are worked to the bone to prove themselves worthy to stay at the company.
"But then why hasn't Valve shipped anything?" Well, they have, but also, if one of those senior guys from the Half-Life days decides a project isn't worth it, they'll pull the plug on it and throw it away, even if a newcomer just spent the last 5 years working on it. If the newcomer is unlucky he'll be canned too, but if he managed to impress a senior guy by working hard, he might get transferred to another project, which will probably also be canned, but hey, keep at it and maybe after another 10 years of constantly working himself to the bone only to see none of his work ever ship, he might reach mid level and can afford to ease up a little and not work as hard.
>is only a perk for the senior guys who have been around since the Half-Life and Half-Life 2 days. Newcomers are worked to the bone to prove themselves worthy to stay at the company.
That's every company. From being a dishwasher to being some corpo wageslave. Seniority has less legwork but carries more responsibility.
>get 1/5th to a quarter million dollars a year doing nothing but sitting around and just mindlessly programming on whatever gabe newell whims at the time >don't have to deal with annoying people all day >autism is encouraged and even praised >get to snack the frick out on whatever you want while doing nothing
christ alive man people would kill for this kind of life
it's really not that great, because if you're making 250k doing nothing you just start thinking "why am I not making 300k doing nothing? I'm losing money by sitting here playing games"
i'm in that situation now. I'm in a cushy WFH job making around that much and while I do game out, exercise each day, read each day, climb, and practice typing and piano, all during work hours, it still feels like I should be getting paid more. It's just the human condition.
This isn't how Valve operates. It's all cabals and peer reviews. Basically, part of your hiring process involves establishing base pay. Once you're onboarded, you choose a project and slot yourself in. You're free to move between projects and contribute whatever you can.
A very specific set of people can dissolve a project cabal, but that's literally Gabe and like two other people, and this almost never happens by their edict, but instead because everybody agrees to move on. Yes, seniors have more sway in the conversation, but they're not an ultimate force.
There are a handful of roles outside this (like HR) but you're not likely to have Gabe walk up and just kill your job unless you're royally fricking up. He'll grill you if he doesn't agree, but he accepts a reasonable defense.
Then, every year, you're forced to review a certain number of other employees at Valve, which are basically just detailed up/downvotes. Get enough good reviews, you make more money. Get enough bad reviews, and you talk to HR about the next step, usually just a write-up unless it's habitual.
pic unrelated, wall of text will likely be ignored by homosexual zoomers and election tourists
> Then, every year, you're forced to review a certain number of other employees at Valve, which are basically just detailed up/downvotes. Get enough good reviews, you make more money. Get enough bad reviews, and you talk to HR about the next step, usually just a write-up unless it's habitual.
I think I remember another company doing this right before they fricking liquidated and all the higher ups went to jail. What was it's name again?
>"The company hid massive trading losses, ultimately leading to one of the largest accounting scandals and bankruptcy in recent history. Enron executives used fraudulent accounting practices to inflate the company's revenues and hide debt in its subsidiaries."
unless there's some heinous shit happening behind the veil at valve software i'm not entirely convinced what happened to enron is happening to them, especially since steam prints money
> since steam prints money
So did Enron.
Enron let you literally BET on the fricking weather. You could be insured for blue skies and sun on your wedding day, and if the heavens opened up and it pissed down with rain showing everyone the brides bra and knickers, you were in for a big payday. Only Enron never paid out, because it had the most advanced meteorological and weather predicting stations in the world at the time.
they're probably right, Linux devs are rare enough and Linux devs with the experience and talent to actually push the envelope forward are like a unicorn
Nobody wants to work for them because they don't get shit done. > Bored of a project? Yeah bro just fricking walk out then and eat a bunch of pink cookies. > Yeah yeah I'm totally working! I'm not stuffing my face. > OH SHIT? THE COMMUNITY DID WHAT? QUICK MAKE THAT COMMUNITY CREATED CONTENT AN OFFICIAL UPDATE (Just like TF2 and Dota 2 for the past 8 years).
As someone who hires people for my company i can confirm everyone under the age of 25 is a piece of shit.
My mvp hire since 2021 is this 6/10 korean woman and i hired her other korean friend and husband and they make all you other races literally seem like entitled dogshit. Also this one republican ass mexican guy rules too. White people suck. Im white.
You think idiot's that make PC assets are artists?
How stupid are you?
Gaming is where anything art goes to die
Anyone that can make art won't waste their time with games
Time will prove gaming is nothing special.
Nobody gives a crap and it's only 50y old.
You can impresse people with a 1000y old painting.
Get any emotion from someone by showing them the first game.

Most people will literally tell you they don't want to look at your game.
On the other hand nobody will say no too actual art.

So you believe the consumer's are right?
Do you like where AAA is going too?
Try typing in "valve" + "drone" as one word. Ganker censors you from using it, but you can company+drone any other company.
It's the only company Ganker will censor for.

Isnt valve pretty small? Like less than 100 people actually work for the company and then they just hire third parties to organize shit like esports, marketing, etc?
yes gatekeeping as hard as possible it's the ONLY way. thankfully they're private otherwise the tribe would decide that all those 10 are a bunch of monkeys
I worked for valve. Weird company internally, bunch of research scientists on the hardware side and armies of contract manufacturers to actually build hardware.
since you literally dont know what they actually mean with taht statement, no john, you are the arrogant c**t.
what if the unique requirement for working at valve is to have a large enough mouth to fit gabens prodigious wiener whole, but also a long and nimble enough tongue to caress his prostate through his butthole?
not many people can have the physical traits for that, and of those even fewer the willpower and devotion. or are you going to tell us that YOU would be able and willing to do it?
Valve is not a game company anymore, you guys seem to forget that.
They are a software company.
They manage steam, a software shop and all its integrated stuff and libraries so games can add functionality for steam in their games. That alone takes an army of IT personnel to manage their servers, a few devs adding stuff etc.
They manage and develop Proton and SteamOS, for Linux.
They also have a hardware team that does whatever, but they probably ARE working on something.
And that's just the "technical" side. Then they have support, which is probably like two guys. And lots of make-busy bureaucracy that's unfortunately needed in a company of this size just to keep it functioning.
bam, there you go, 400 people.
I'm also upset they abandoned games I liked, but even if they went back to making games, it wouldnt be a Valve Game like the ones we used to see long ago
They or rather a few employees are improving Win32 compatibility on Linux, which is nice.
They made a VR headset but it's okayish only. Tried some VR game they made few years ago shortly but got bored quickly. Predictably, there isn't a huge market for it but other VR headsets are used in engineering sometimes.
They have their only shop, which keeps generating money. Technologically there aren't any innovative changes to that shop system but it works I suppose?
valve's "knuckle" controllers included with the index are why i bought the system
the headset is lacking compared to some modern counterparts but i've yet to see any controller that competes with it
On the hardware side, has there been any recent mention of a new steam controller? I recall their reps saying they were interested in doing another around the Steam Deck launch time.
maybe in 1997 when you had Black folk like casali and the bunch on your payroll.
everyone worth their salt is long gone from valve, or had resigned to mediocrity.
yeah the competition is looking pretty fierce from ubiso- no i mean microso- uh...uhm...epic games....no no they barely implemented a shopping cart feature...hmm...
I predict that when Gabe dies because of his obesity, that will probably be the beginning of the end for Valve.
Valve is basically a one man company and Gabe is doing all the work. Without him, there's no valve.
I remember there was an article from a former valve employee on how his coworkers spent the majority of the time in the playroom instead of working on a true half life sequel and other games in their pipeline.
Gaming companies are adult daycares and Gabe can't micromanage these morons since he's semi-retired.
I predict that when Gabe dies because of his obesity, that will probably be the beginning of the end for Valve.
Valve is basically a one man company and Gabe is doing all the work. Without him, there's no valve.
Amazon destroyed Barnes and Noble and public libraries and Steam destroyed Battle.Net and Games for Windows, they know companies cant exist forever
considering nobodoy does shit at valve and they rack in free money from steam and constantly cancel multi million dollar projects I'd say they are announcing they can afford to pay 10.000 more people before they start going under
Well they only hire experienced hardware or software engineers probably in the top 10% of their field that also have an interest in video games and want to move to Seattle so yeah not a lot of people but probably not as exclusive as everyone thinks.
I don't even know what the complaint is here
Cant you come up with better bait thread you frickin failure?
they are looking down on me just because I work at mcdonalds
its a job for high school students, everyone else is looking down on you too
>it's a job for high school students
so McDonald's shouldn't be open for lunch?
Sadly there will always be failures who work jobs for high school students
>I don't even know what the complaint is here
they're not employing a bunch of failures with useless degrees to keep the system from collapsing
every company must do it's part.
Technically they are because look at the team that can’t make new TF2 maps and had to steal it.
They gotta hire more trannies and Black folk! More inclusivity, more diversity hires!!
They only hire the bare minimum for the digital store, add shit in Team Fortress and Dota and make a new videogame every 10 years.
valve does work? and honestly that seems pretty high, there's got to be only around 100k AAA devs in the world who speak english
Considering the state of every other western gaming company, they're probably right but overestimating if anything.
i thought it was more like 1000. oh well it says "reportedly" which means they made it up. basic clickbait shit that op gobbles down every hour by the hour
surely theres more than 10k trannies in the world
damn, discriminated against for not being trans
The troon complains about employees referring to him as it.
The troony lost the case I recall.
>legal system sided with the billion-dollar corporation over the regular person
Shocking.
>troony mental illness
>regular
guffaw
But I thought the law always sided with trannies? What gives?
>make source 2
>release like 4 games on it 2 of which suck cs2 is ok and maybe modded alyx
>proceed to basically do frick all with it in over a decade of development
>make billions without making games
Seems like the smart thing to fo
when the regular person is a fricking moron and doesn't know the law that they're trying to use as a weapon? yes.
>regular person
troons are not people, homosexual.
>regular person
I got this joke!
Thing is, you could make it more insulting if it was accurate,
>Courts sides with the company instead of the grifter trying to scam the legal system into giving him money for free
Yeah that’s definitely a case I would also side with the corporation too.
>regular
>person
gufaw!
>legal system sided with the billion-dollar corporation over the regular person
Valve literally just lost a court case last week in the EU. You look quite moronic at this moment.
>mentally ill troon
>regular
Oh damn that was a good joke.
>unpaid fan translators
yeah generally people doing work for free don't get paid
>Iron cross prominently on display
Oof.
that's for Day of Defeat baka
Or is it?
>unpaid fan translators
Based volvo, hail Gaben ! Total trannied and Black folk death !
I like to clock trannies and show vibrant enthusiastic support to their face and interlace subtle insults and realistic comments about their actual progress and lack of passing throughout. IE: I wish I was as brave as you, I worry too much about passing.
It's a fun and legal thrill.
hey yeah, i got into my language's steam translation group. i haven't translated shit after i got a couple of product pages for some tiny indie games published though, only did that for practice and anyone expecting more than that is a fool.
>letting the fox into the hen house
Not really. There’s probably only like 100k people working in games globally. They want the top 10%.
Top 10% for what?
Counter Strike
Source?
It should be “as few” not “as little”. ESLs shouldn’t write articles
Sorry you didn't make the cut.
They also released Dota Underlords.
>Dota Underlords
I forgot about that.
I benefited LoL more with their TFT mode kek
10.000 "valve tier" devs*
>Dota Underlords.
that's nothing since they abandoned it shortly after
alyx is objectively the best vr game and rubikon is years ahead of every other physics engine
>half life for index, which no one has or cares
Sorry you're poor.
Anyway, Valve wants people like the VFX developer who spent his weekend implementing liquid simulation shaders in Alyx without asking just because he wanted to see if he could. That's the talent and drive they want.
>valve wants people who work for free on the weekend
You might not know this because you get paid hourly, but nobody who's salaried technically works "for free." You just get paid the same whether you work on the weekend or not, and if you're the type of person who's motivated to create in your spare time and improve something you enjoyed working on, is it really work? But you'll never know anything like that.
this
my salary is what it costs to guarantee i'm available during normal work hours
my drive is the reason i have that salary
>liquid simulation shaders in Alyx
That shit is bizarre
Especially when you remember how low Alyx graphical requirements are for graphics it does
Like it really rare breed of the devs that are capable of using math in game development these days
I still think about Alyx
They had a really particular philosophy for the shader development on Alyx. Like, I've forgotten pretty much all the actual details from that one presentation about it, but they had dozens of slides in a row that were nothing but diagrams analysing specular aliasing.
Valve is still employed by industry vets were "good graphics" meant having genius physics and logic developers. The liquid shader isn't even that complex in concept but there's no other company out there that has the brainpower and determination to pull that shit off. Alyx looks better than any game to have come out since its release except maybe TLOU2. Not because its demanding, but because it was made by smart people.
>gameplay is dogshit compared to other VR games
>wow look at muh liquid lol
>10.000
Valve are lazy gays but hispanics don't get to have opinions
moron here, I really hope Rouge doesn't peirce her ears but instead uses clip ons. Her ears are perfection and her putting holes in them makes me sad.
Yup. Also….
>log into Steam
>click save login data
>week later
>login to steam
>password not saved
Then what’s the fricking point? Out of the dozens and dozens of logins I have why is it only Steam that does this?
well you have to suck gabes dick and also be lazy and stupid so I guess that takes out a lot of potential candidates
That could have been true ten years ago, but now? I seriously doubt it.
>a bunch of zoomers outed themselves as zoomers by whining about the nyan cat reference being a "pride flag"
30+ Ganker with age verification when?
>no one mentions zoomers or gay flags
>only comment of the image is "cringe"
(you)
Are valve even working to begin with?
If yes, on what?
DOTA 2 is abandoned, CS2 still need a whole year in the kitchen, and TF2 is pretty much bot town.
Their games are painfully mid, at best. Do they really think they are the top of the game?
Maybe back then but now, no way.
a multiplayer hero shooter with iceffrog
some new stuff with VR
and that's it, the future looks grim tbh
>a multiplayer hero shooter with iceffrog
Huh?
His source is Tyler McVicker
McBlack person is a gossipmongering cuck but other more trustworthy leakers found the same code as well.
It's all right there for people to scrape the engine and see.
>steamdeck and steamos shit (and all the shit that entails like working on proton or whatever)
>cs2 and source2
>alyx before that
>index before that
>the rumored half life game and the other game that i forgot
>steam itself
>Are valve even working to begin with?
yes
>If yes, on what?
games that they're never gonna release because they interally ran out of steam (lol) while making it so they just decide to shelve it and never tell anybody about it
Unironically valve is right now
1. Writing kernel drivers
2. Writing a Win32 compatibility layer
3. Writing anticheat
4. Making Hardware
Game engines and Software stores are mostly done and stable
Holy frick, weren't you just dicksucking valve in another thread just minutes ago? Is it possible for you to stop sucking valve wiener for just 20 minutes?
wow great argument homosexualron you sure showed him
Their store is top of the game already.
Neon Prime still hasn't been announced but a ton more strings were found in CS2's updates and release so its still in development.
>half life alyx
>steam vr
>steam deck
Way to conveniently ignore some of their most recent work, at least you named cs2 though i guess
Valve is still a power house and youre still an eastern incel
all of those are over a year old
gamedev is like a 5 to 10 year cycle, expect news/leaks in a year or so
>dota 2 biggest gameplay update of the past 2-3 years, reworked menus, behavior score, and player profiles
>cs2 released, fundamental smoke changes, every map got a facelift, new netcode, new anticheat, every single night theres an update for bugfixes
>steam os 3.5 for the ick and eck coming to main branch soon, improved performance, display color tuning, desktop mode update
>new vr headset in the making, new steam controller, steam machine 2.0
>steam
yeah frfr, valve is totally not bussin it down bro, they didn't release le hats for dota2 so its abandoned, cs2 didnt release in a state that csgo is after 10 years, and they didnt release le hl3
the thing is that they should stop making multiplayer games and make more fun games like a real half life 3 or if they don't want to make hl3 left 4 dead.
>turt-
turtle rock didn't do shit aside from the concept, literally valve devs fixed the idiocy of some concepts and made the arcade style gameplay, i would still like to see the interesting ideas of turtle rock but that is solved by talking to employees who want to give ideas to valve working for a bit and contracting them rather than throwing l4d onto the trash.
Turtle rock was the reason it was even good though.
valve employees are famously allowed to work on whatever they feel like, which is partly why they're based but also why they're lazy and dont really make much
>journo thread
>employ top tier developers
>they just sit there doing nothing but cs and dota updates because of internal politics and drama
What's the master plan
Milking everything they can before Gaben kicks the bucket and Steam kills itself
Buying up all the talent just to deny them to competitors is actually a well known tech company strategy.
I work at Microsoft and it's spot on. I get paid 180k to sit around and do absolutely fricking nothing. Meanwhile Google and Amazon recruiters keep hitting me up on Linkedin. I'm a well fed lazeabout right now. Its' weird.
>they pay you so competition doesn't get you
>you don't have any proper work to do so your skills rust and get worse, behind times with new tech
>suddenly you are removed from the pool of viable workers
so then just muck about programming whatever you want
>I work at Microsoft
Oh yeah? Let me ask you then: what'd you think of the last season of Trust Code?
dont get too complacent anon,
is correct.
You gotta stay sharp if you wanna be hired in the future, while we ALL wanna be paid to sit on our arses and game at work doing frick all, you can't maintain that forever and you'll frick yourself over if you do.
Regardless, gz on the current ezmode of life.
>internal politics
how? They don't have a boss to answer to
Exactly the problem.
when no one is the boss, then everybody is the boss, and can choose to do whatever the frick they want
everything we've heard about the various HL3 development leaks tell us that a small group of passionate people in the company manage to get enough other people on board to make it with them, then team members start losing interest and choosing to work on other thing (because there's no boss to tell them no) until the project just falls apart because it's down to a skeleton crew and they all agree to forget it because it's not feasible with what's left of their team, and apparently this exact process has happened about 3 or more times
>I still think steam is the best online marketplace, but I think a large part of that is due to how absolutely fricking AWFUL their competition is
the competition is awful because steam has an almost 20 year start on them. for better or worse they ironed out a lot of their issues before the internet exploded and online commerce became as big as it has
that said, you're right. why the frick aren't these companies simply copying what makes steam work?
neat, i wonder if we're actually in for the valve being turned or if it's just speculation based on prior events
This strategy can work of course (early Steam was awful), but only if it's a new market where you don't have a competitor who already owns majority market share with their product.
it was both, turtle rock gave the exaggerate ideas and the gameplay mechanics and valve just fixed some very small quirks.
thinking about it i remembered that new turtle rock isn't the og turtle but new employees which don't have anything to do with l4d, most original left 4 dead employees are still on valve so they don't have any reason to not develop it with original ideas and make bhopping an intended mechanic so it's even cooler.
the issue isn't that there isn't any boss but that the company gives benefits to people if they work on "new projects" (not profitable, new)
this makes you have a false sense of choice which in turn causes you to just do steam or vr because the company gives you better pay, gets you more status onto the company and by everyone not having a real developer initiative by just uniting another team do derrail they will make moronic cults of personality.
in general they should just give a only pay and stop the STI situation by removing moronic flip flopping with the past defining that non labeling shit as "unique and new" before anything does.
>valve employs 10k people
>some c**t called Hirun Cryer sends his CV to valve
>rejected
>Valve thinks as little as 10,000 people in the whole world have what it takes to work for them
wasn't their team like 300-400 employees for an absurdly long amount of time? what's their team size now? also how much money is everyone getting paid there since Steam is legit a free money printer?
Still roughly the same number I think, 400-ish.
Still around the same size. IIRC the pay isn't insanely higher than other AAA studios, but they get a frick ton of benefits and vacation time. Including a yearly 3 week vacation in hawaii.
>vacation time
They get nothing but vacation time. None of them do any fricking work.
Considering that they did such a shitty job with CS2 and Dota 2 Compendium is so fricking shit - it's just pajeets there. So much for 10k.
>Artifact fanbase
No such thing
you can't be seriously this insecure, probably bait yeah?
On March 30, 2020, Valve announced Artifact Beta 2.0, stating they planned for a closed beta (which happened), transitioning to an open beta and later full release (which didn’t).
https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/583950/view/2102558993190369210
On December 17, 2020, Valve stated they would allow users to invite friends to the Artifact 2.0 beta in January.
https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1269260/view/2951510987408670526
On March 4, 2021, Valve formally abandoned Artifact. No expansions, no mobile version, no million-dollar tournament, not even something as basic as allowing users to invite friends to the beta like they said they would.
https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/583950/view/3047218819080842820
artifact sucks bro no one even wanted the tournament wtf is ur problem
try zombie panic, co-op horror, free on steam
>no one even wanted an opportunity to win one million dollars while spending time at a fun event full of people who share your interests
so a bunch of autistic deck builders from magic are mad that they didn't get an easy shot at a million dollars
no one cares and we're tired of your spam. Frick off.
The only thing necessary for evil triumph is that good men do nothing. I will never stop.
Valve screwed over the Artifact fanbase by cancelling the Artifact 2.0 beta without even allowing users to invite friends like they said they would in January 2021 and does not deserve your financial support for these gross consumer-unfriendly practices.
artifact, underlords were nothing else than a used prostitute to test source2 on mobile devices
>valve
>good
>video game company
>valve
more like gambling company and selling other people's games company
I wouldn't have doubted that BEFORE that disastrous CS2 launch.
Now it's clear they only know how to maintain storefronts.
>make source 2
>release like 4 games on it 2 of which suck cs2 is ok and maybe modded alyx
>proceed to basically do frick all with it in over a decade of development
>???
what am i missing here
Artifact does not suck.
Sorry dude but your favorite game was a flop
not many people at valve had enough testosterone to survive properly rewriting the first quake 1 engine into source 2
Cool
It takes a lot of talent to not make video games all day long anon.
I mean it takes a special kind of person to work at a game company and not make any games.
they've lost several very talented devs precisely because they got fed up with not actually making any games
2000s and earlier Valve, sure. Now any gay that sucks off gaben chode would fit right in.
Wow, I think we finally found one instance where blacks were actually replaced by white people and not vice versa.
that webm was some bizzaro world shit
thousands of people believe it too because they saw this backwards fricking video
it's a fictional fricking video you moronic troglodyte
And?
one? buddy the media does this all over the place you frickin moron
and yet they can't find a single person to free them of their chromium dependancy
>If I had 10 divisions of Valve employees, our trouble in the gaming industry would be over very quickly.
It is fricking criminal that no one recognized the reference and complimented you for it. Then again, most on this board are probably younger than that fricking movie.
>it is FRICKING CRIMINAL that no one recognized the slop reference and complimented you for referencing slop
>UPVOTE! UPVOTE FOR YOU GOOD SIR
yikes
>gamer calling apocalypse now slop
Get some taste seriously
>nooo my hollywood slop isn't slop look here's charlie slop!
Eat your slop
holy cringe. he even posted a picture with it. good work on figuring out his obscure reference
Yeah I would think the majority of people here are younger than 45
This here everyone, is someone that achieved so little in their actual life, they have placed all their value in the ability to recognize a movie they watched.
I see you Ganker.
What about the Asian women getting paid to send emails and swag bags to influencers before spending the rest of the day eating while recording "my average work day at blizzard" videos for tiktok?
>Must have a bachelor relevant field
>Must be a US citizen
>Must speak and read English fluently
>Must have examples of work
>Be able to perform task while being monitored for performance
Yeah only 10,000 ppl able to meet those requirements makes sense. India might have 4 Milluon coders, but look how Starfield and the GTA 3 remasters turned out.
>>Must be a US citizen
This requirement is just moronic.
way to filter so many talented non US citizens.
Drm, forked wine proton none of these are impressive compared to people/companies who advanced graphics in lighting ray tracing for eg
wrong
Why do zoomers think that valve invented drm?
they weren't alive for Starforce and Securom
Yeah but why do they think that drm didn't exist before they were alive?
their brains are smooth
All the cope defences for valve is funny
Valve will never ever compensate more than a million unless you're a senior in the industry other companies compensate more benefits and income than valve for even juniors if you're capable and talented like few of the other anons have mentioned
Valve always underpays in the industry that its has become a joke you don't go to Valve for payment only for prestige or tickmark for career advancement all of these are good markers for environment for no innovation
I haven't seen innovation from Valve for more than a decade now
shh you don't want to make valve people mad here
Its true most of the proton works are not done by valve employee but by other volunteers and individuals like
and fact that they also hired
The initiation is real
I can assure you it wasn't a gang of white dudes doing this shit, that was a Hollywood "recreation".
Ever notice that burglers are also always white in commercials?
>that was a Hollywood "recreation".
That's literally my point.
>Ever notice that burglers are also always white in commercials?
Heh, sounds like SOMEONE didn't study and work hard enough in school.
They want the best instead of the worst? The cream of the crop? Oh no who could've predicted that... They don't want a loser like you...
Heh.
They're probably being generous given the state of the industry.
>successful company only hires qualified people
How arrogant of them!
yes, 10k people in the world want to work on Artifact and prototypes that never get released
only 10000 people in the world can count money?
I guess black lesbian transgenders who can code are rare.
this guy's one of them
I can assure Valve that there are far more than 10,000 lazy, incompetent workers with shit taste in video games in with no idea how to fix their awful interface
Can you explain to me why a company needs more than 10000 people working for them?
Maybe they get fiscal benefits or something
That seems like a pretty high estimate.
They know if they opened the doors the same homosexuals that destroyed other companies from within will come right through. We already have this Youtuber who worked for Valve and he whined about the lack of diversity.
>he whined about the lack of diversity.
That video was pretty funny
>"But we got programmers, artists, writers, and engineers. We have a pretty diverse group of workers here"
>"We will take anyone that has the skills and knowledge that we need. Just send us a resume and will get it a look!"
>REEEEEEE!
They hired the Firewatch guys.
>valve filtering out and telling the vast majority of poo in loos, diversity "tech" hires, useless female """""""programmers""""""" and twitter troony techgays to frick off
You literally cannot find a publically owned company saying something like this. Based Gabe Newell.
It takes skill to sit on your ass, how many hours have you done
if are the top 0.1% big brain skillful homie why would you go work for valve instead of something like microsoft or apple who will pay you triple the salary?
Because I wouldn't have to put up with diversity hires, trannies, women and mentally unstable "engineers". Some things are just not worth the money. At least at Valve I'd be dealing with the top 0.1% and wouldn't have to avoid stepping on eggshells when asking for anything at all.
You're delusional if you think the workplace is any less toxic than FANG. you just have to deal with a different kind of eggshells.
>2 different versions of Half-Life 3
>2 different versions of Left 4 Dead 3
>A.R.T.I. (Minecraft clone)
>Soulslike/Monster Hunter clone based from Dota 2 universe
>SimTrek
>Borealis VR
>Half-Life 2 Episode 3
>F-Stop
What a damn waste
Valve is a company where an online store and gambling on speculative virtual items pays extremely talented people not to ship video games
>concept arts
Who cares? It's fricking nothing.
>devs have an idea for a game
>commission some drawings
>idea never goes any further
>concept art leaks years later
>"OH NO THEY SCRAPPED THIS GAME THAT WAS PRACTICALLY DONE"
Gabe Newell donated to Joe Biden.
i'm so tired of fricking agitprop
I too think there is only 10,000 straight white men who aren't mentally ill lefties remaining in the world.
How DARE they not become a bloated corpse of a company!
there are plenty of webshitters available to work on steam
>as little
not as few?
this is pretty funny when you consider how many bugs pop up in EVERY tf2 update, it's like they dont test at all
tf2 code is a mess. they would need to give it cs2 treatment and just start over but no devs want to do that
tf2 updates for the last 5 years have been just one guy picking cosmetics from the workshop and adding them to the game
nobody works on the game
why do they even need that many people? how many people does it take to run a store. don't they have modders doing the cosmetics for them?
They're right, the majority of the twitter warriors only wanted to """"work"""" for Valve so that they can """""change""""" it from the inside.
So they just write articles about how undiverse and reactionary it is, and why won't they turn into a communist shitpile
>valve is le based
>noooooooooooooo you have to hire queers to run that campaign
The seething never ends.
>block lgbt
you know there are filters on steam right?
I never understood why black and brown are a part of the pride flag
You've never heard of BiPOC?
But indigenous are red
Western indigenous are too privileged and don't count.
black people saw something that wasn't specifically about them and said "this is about us actually""
other way around, Black folks would prefer not to be involved in the pride stuff (they're not gay, they just have anal sex with other men). but the quiltbags added in the Black stuff to outwoke each other.
homies are zesty as frick on average and whole thug culture is pretty fricking gay, especially the rap culture. They fit right in with the lgtbq flag.
If I worked at valve, I'd first convince everyone to fix tf2, ditch the compgays, and then I'd update HLD.
You'd probably get fired instantly for being annoying homosexual.
if I worked at valve I'd cut you off, give you a studio with limited funds, and say fix it
That's why you don't work at valve. Fricking mismanaging corporate funds like that when we can just get a bonus this year instead.
so you're saying I'd be a fricking idiot for allowing to have your own mini studio?
Not that anon
he's not hired
Yes. Why bother putting time and effort into TF2 cucks when theyll give you money for nothing?
>limited funds
I just want to fix it, give me my normal pay, tf2 needs tons of love.
If you play TF2 in 2023, you're a fricking moron.
listen to the fans
tim cain said he made fallout 1 with "the worst" interplay employees. interplay assigned to him these guys, so they have something to do, and (except one guy, who was fired) they made fallout with tim.
Its absolute clickbait article.
Valve is more of a hardware company now, assuming the design and manufacture the deck and index themselves and not outsource it.
Literally a Chinese company does it better than them, they're fricking insane
What a garbage design
You're moronic if you think that's a good handheld
I wonder how many accidental keypresses you get.
Who the frick needs a keyboard on a handheld when everything is a touch screen now.
Do they imply you need to put it on a table and use it like a mini laptop?
>Chinese company
So which company did they steal the design from?
probably Toshiba
Same as valve stole the PSP design I guess
Did valve send a spy to work for Sony, acquired access to design documents and sent it back to China?
Look I like the GDP in concept but their fricking customer support is raw fricking buttholes.
Is this one of those ads disguised as articles? Does anyone actually think Valve is a place any competent dev would want to work at?
Kuh... parasitebros... we were unable to succeed with this one!!
The only reason Half Life Alyx happened is because 2 Valve veterans got invested into the idea and whipped everyone else into shape.
they would have made tons of money if they made a regular 3d version along side the vr game. I would have bought it.
I was just pissed it was a vr game. same thing with that sorcery game. I don't want to buy a headset just for two games, and they both look awesome.
Update for the novr sometime this month.
vr or a new game?
Novr Alyx, but what's the point, all the interactions are automatic
damn
Mod so you can just play it normally with mouse and keyboard. What sucks is it doesn't work with any of the workshop campaigns so do what you will with that info.
>That's how Kim Swift got the boot privately.
Qrd?
She had her own ideas for a potential Portal sequel and made the mistake of trying to work on that when the higher ups wanted her to work on other things
Her ideas for work on a Portal sequel were mid and Quantum Conundrum wasn’t very good
I worked with a guy who was in the same class as Kim Swift at DigiPen and he said she was a hack, that Narbacular Drop wasn't even her idea she just took credit for it. No idea whether that's true or not, though, he could've just been bitter.
Well Quantum Conndumdum was shit so that would explain it.
>try to make a third game
>get fired
she should've known
that's a good thing. that means they only hire quality
And that's a good thing
Start hiring every diversity hire and you get nu-blizzard
They're right. Especially modern "men"
Considering their track record it's understandable
They're not wrong.
Most people are actually shit.
Hilariously based. Just look at all this seethe.
By the way, if you do this same technique with women you'll get more pussy
>By the way, if you do this same technique with women you'll get more pussy
Its true though. Dont put pussy on a pedestal and act like they aren't good enough to have you, and the woman brain turns into a frenzy. This is only heightened the more ugly you are
Quality over quantity
Hey its hard to find testers THAT dumb okay.
From a technical perspective Source is a very impressive engine. They clearly have very talented programmers on their team. I wish they didn't become a microtransction and e-sports company.
>make good mods
>get hired
It's THAT easy.
truly an inspiration
>nooooo you must hire the migrants! stop being racist against Black folk!!!
>why isn't valve publicly traded this is so antisemitic!!!
Frick israelites.
Jesus, Americans are literally on the level of animals.
Obsessed
This is the kind of person that seethes at Valve.
>Valve is extremely white and extremely male
OH NO THE HORROR
shittti need painted sojak of that
way to out yourself as a newbie
its ok almighty oldgay incel
>look we can't hire you Mr John carmack because you dropped out of college we have a standard to maintain such as uhhhhhhhhhh a mod for a 2000 games and uhhhhhhbh another mod for a 2000 game
they'd hire Carmack in an instant if he decides to
They wouldn't hire him if he was a fresh dropout like id did, they would hire a pajeeg before they hire him
the thing is that you used all bad example. John is beyond working for companies like valve now. he could just make his own if he wanted.
>he could just make his own if he wanted.
Nah he needs direction. Someone has to focus his autism or he'll piss off and do something else.
he's been fricked around by wiener suckerburg from Facebook.
Exactly zuck didn't focus his autism.
Carmack has extreme potential like goku
I'm talking hypotheticaly goddamn
so you're hypothetically a drop out?
Valve only hire seniors (>=5YoE) or hire fresh graduates with good project(s)
Lmao so they would literally hire pajeet and not young carmack
That's right, this fictionalized scenario you made up in this head is totally real and not a schizophrenic delusion
Shut up moron what's so hard to understand about my statement
your statement is an imaginary event that you made up to get mad at
Its not imaginary it is logic, if young john carmack was looking for a job they would not hire him and they will hire pajeet instead
again this is an imaginary scenario that you made up because you are mentally ill
depends on how good they are. you know Johnny is getting old, and refuses to make another doom
I don't think it's the john carmack's of the world they're turning down more like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNgjecJY76g
>im getting mad at imaginary scenarios i made up in my head
What kind of mental illness causes this?
Carmack was a bad choice to cite here, because there's legitimate bad blood between Carmack and several top level Valve old guard. Valve would never give Carmack an officer and Carmack would never accept one.
it's like watching dragons bow to each other
That's gotta be some seriously bad blood. Carmack was in person at QuakeCon this year and Bethesda literally sued him.
Where's the documentary?
i applied and got rejected. They did send me a bespoke rejection letter though, which has never happened before. This was back in 2013
What exactly was the letter about?
>I then said if not I would just go to wall street
And yet you didn't end up their either.
there*
drown yourself homosexual
HAG LOVE
>sales manager
Pure evil. God punished him for being too close to Satan.
Being good at playing a certain character in a video game is valuable, but I think I’ll take the 200+ collective years of professional game design experience
But this is true. If they got women and dark men to work for them they wouldn't have been a billion dollar company.
>demand excellence
>this is seen as problematic
microcosm of why the west is falling
What I can say — perhaps, but you, Valve, aquired a bunch of absolute hacks, I meand devs of Firewatch, one of the cringiest games ever. Fire Vanaman, fire everybody who came from Campo Santo, and then we can talk.
One of the Campo Santo devs is a shader genius so he was a steal if it meant dealing with Vanaman.
>is a shader genius
Well, maybe, but I don't remember any good shaders in Firewatch. Get the guy, cansel WE WUZ game, but then just don't let Vanaman write anything important.
You don't apply to valve, valve see your hard, passionated work and they come to you, its that easy.
There are less than 10000 people in the world who are that good at israeliteing to work at Valve.
poojeets are only acceptable for webdev and even then only because no one cares how shitty a website runs because they all run like shit
they're incapable of writing efficient code
santa Gandalf Gabe kicks ass
>I quit
And 4,000 of them are probably pajeets in their eyes. This is incredibly stupid.
>NOOOOO WHY CANT WE RUIN VALVE LIKE WE DID WITH BLIZZARD THIS IS RAPE
eat shit and die
Why are you tards so obsessed with pajeets and troons. There are barely any fricking pooinloos at Valve to begin with.
They have like literally one black dude who is a godly animator that used to work at pixar. And the rest are white guys, asians, and europeans. A handful of women and a bunch of very autistic linuxtards.
>And the rest are white guys, asians, and europeans. A handful of women and a bunch of very autistic linuxtards
racist....
Yeah I was surprised seeing a literal Jamaal in the developers commentary for HL Alyx.
>one black dude who is a godly animator
Jamaal Bradley's a cool dude:
Pulling community creations from the workshop to put into lootboxes can only be done by the brightest minds.
>One of the most successful privately owned companies in the world says less than %0.000001 of the population is fit to work for them
Probably true.
most people at valve don't do anything, i find this number hard to believe.
I find it very realistic. How many people do you know who cannot count to three? Probably none. Neither do I. Its a rare mental disorder.
>Hire only the best
>Surprised when no one can finish a project or maintain an old one
Rockstar programmers being valuable is a myth. Google goes through a round of hiring and firing every year because they can't herd these type-A personality autists
I don’t have any particular problem with Valve as a consumer but from everything I’ve heard it seems like a pretty awful place to work. I mean the lack of crunch is pretty rare in game dev but it seems like such a directionless mess of a company internally.
They said they dropped their flat structure since it led to too many dead projects. Thus why Source 2 and Alyx suddenly got done.
But alyx sucked still.
Did they say that? It’s hard to imagine gaben giving enough of a shit to even institute a change like that
They did not.
So my theory that everyone was just making Steam stickers is true?
There were probably people there who never shipped anything at all, not even a sticker. Valve's had enough discarded concepts to fill a graveyard, but the studio's always been like that, ever since Prospero.
What work?
Tf2 abandoned
Artifact abandoned
No games
steam has schizo rules on what it does and doesn't allow
lol
lmao
vulva is shit
>steam has schizo rules on what it does and doesn't allow
They're a private entity that can enforce whatever batshit rules they want. They aren't even beholden to ESG or anything like that. They work entirely based on whatever company policy they wish to have. A different company with different values would enforce different rules.
That's also why things such as Nexus Mods only supports certain forms of degeneracy and not all, and that's why Basedmods only supports other forms of degeneracy and not all.
has schizo rules on what it does and doesn't allow
>They're a private entity that can enforce whatever batshit rules they want.
What you said has nothing to do with what I said. See yourself out of my board.
I'm good enough to write for valve but nobody will hire me
sad!
What ero games does Valve deny? There's some new bullshit Chinese "Hentai Puzzle 57" every minute.
Those are fine! Japanese game, though? WHOA HOLD THE PHONE THERE BUDDY
Not enough gays and furries in this one, DENIED
It sounds like you've got a specific game in mind and now I'm curious, because I feel like I see Japanese eroge on Steam's New & Trending constantly.
Evenicle 2 where?
>specific game
Evenicle 2
Dungeon Travelers
fricking Chaos;Head
Muramasa
hundreds others
I just picked the ones that all had PSP releases except for Evenicle
They even ban ecchi like Dungeon Travelers 2 and 2-2 which were released on Vita.
>globally, 10,000 people are capable of working for valve
>somehow they still hired a homosexual that bans uncensored anime games on steam.
I don't care. Valve is, from what I'm aware, the only big video game company that isn't openly predatory.
>isn't openly predatory.
>mmm, what's that? a negative review? we shall dub it "review bombing" and thus invalidate it
Also someone is blissfully unaware on how valve "convinced" people to get on steam
If your response to my post is typical of the kind of review you would leave on steam then I take valve's side. gay.
>I take valve's side
I know you do, steamie.
>not openly predatory
lol they started a solid third of this shit.
>no see, tf2 crates are based because...
Fair point. I forgot valve started the hat collection thing and the gaming gambling thing.
valve forced people onto steam when it just launched by buying CS WON servers and shutting them down, forcing people who wanted to continue playing CS (and there was a lot of them) onto steam, to give it that initial kick.
They're the epitome of predatory, no matter what the fat frick says.
They definitely popularized it.
people are SPECIAL enough to work at valve
>somehow this includes campo santo homosexuals
lmao
valve is a joke
Either be some hyper competent genius or do a project GabeN likes.
Probably not far from the truth for most companies tbh.
they bought the absolute onions dogshit studio that made Firewatch, so no, actually they'll take just about anyone
>valve
>work

yeah you have to be the best of the best to... *checks notes*... release nothing?
Valve doesn't even make shit. Anyone can just sit there and collect a paycheck.
You wouldn't want to work for Valve anyways.
YWNBAVE
sounds like ibanking
>is only a perk for the senior guys who have been around since the Half-Life and Half-Life 2 days. Newcomers are worked to the bone to prove themselves worthy to stay at the company.
That's every company. From being a dishwasher to being some corpo wageslave. Seniority has less legwork but carries more responsibility.
>get 1/5th to a quarter million dollars a year doing nothing but sitting around and just mindlessly programming on whatever gabe newell whims at the time
>don't have to deal with annoying people all day
>autism is encouraged and even praised
>get to snack the frick out on whatever you want while doing nothing
christ alive man people would kill for this kind of life
it's really not that great, because if you're making 250k doing nothing you just start thinking "why am I not making 300k doing nothing? I'm losing money by sitting here playing games"
>muh money
Wrong path
Black person i'm going to be real with you. no i fricking will not. just two or three years working at valve would set me up for the rest of my life
i'm in that situation now. I'm in a cushy WFH job making around that much and while I do game out, exercise each day, read each day, climb, and practice typing and piano, all during work hours, it still feels like I should be getting paid more. It's just the human condition.
no anon, that's just (you)r condition.
The snack bar hasn't been good since 2012, they replaced it with health food shit once all the fat jokes got to Gabe's head.
What do they upvote each other for?
Wow valve anon is doing a really good job not finishing games for 10 years just like the best of us, he's a keeper
they're probably right, Linux devs are rare enough and Linux devs with the experience and talent to actually push the envelope forward are like a unicorn
ARTIFACTBROS WW@?
If I worked at Valve I'd keep bring up Ricochet 2 and inserting it into every meeting and thinktank until they fired me.
Pretty sure a majority of people are like that in Valve hence their rule of unanimous interest when to pursue a project.
Most modern games are total dogshit, they’re obviously right.
QUICK MAKE THAT COMMUNITY CREATED CONTENT AN OFFICIAL UPDATE (Just like TF2 and Dota 2 for the past 8 years).
i hate the fact Valve killed all those games between 2010 and 2020 ffs...
Something like 70% of engineers think they are God's gift to mankind, even though they do poor work on fairly pointless systems. I don't know why.
It's not like engineering schools spend 5 years fluffing them or something. I think they just lack social skills and self awareness. It's pathetic.
I hate wormy little shitstain journalists. HIRE MORE Black folk, VALVE is the headline now.
Im white.
What does valve even do besides design addicting lootboxes for cs:go?
I would bet, even money, that there are less than 10,000 good artists out there anyways.
You think valve makes art?
You think games have Art?
I don't think games are art but they are created by artists. If your smooth brain can comprehend that.
You think idiot's that make PC assets are artists?
How stupid are you?
Gaming is where anything art goes to die
Anyone that can make art won't waste their time with games
Just so smooth.
Time will prove gaming is nothing special.
Nobody gives a crap and it's only 50y old.
You can impresse people with a 1000y old painting.
Get any emotion from someone by showing them the first game.
way to set up some primo false equivalence
Show a game to most people and then show them something from the Roman empire.
Most people will literally tell you they don't want to look at your game.
On the other hand nobody will say no too actual art.
>Most people will literally tell you they don't want to look at your game.
according to you
>On the other hand nobody will say no too actual art.
again, also according to you. now begone GankerBlack person
Yes and if I'm wrong that just proves everyone has no soul/taste.
Still wouldn't prove games are anything else then low end comercial trash.
>if i'm wrong that means everyone else is actually wrong!
classic
So you believe the consumer's are right?
Do you like where AAA is going too?
Try typing in "valve" + "drone" as one word. Ganker censors you from using it, but you can company+drone any other company.
It's the only company Ganker will censor for.
Try posting sony pony or X bot as one word

Lurk before you post, newbie
been here since late 2000s. that's why I know it's censored by Ganker
valve gets special exceptions on Ganker, and is blatantly censored for

Whoa how dare they want the best of the best so glad this has bitten them in the ass and they're losing tons of mone- oh wait
pcbro
hollyshit hahahaha. valved.drones how are we gonna cope?
by laughing at you
gotta keep the standards high if you want to keep things as they are
As an extremely moronic, wheelchair driving, transgender ethiopian im offended.
All humans are equal.
Sers BTFO
you are cordially invited to die mad about it
>age: 20-25
>work experience: 10 years
Isnt valve pretty small? Like less than 100 people actually work for the company and then they just hire third parties to organize shit like esports, marketing, etc?
valve+drone
pcbro
How hard is it to sit around making no games?
so why is valve specifically protected when other game companies aren't on Ganker?
Were I to apply, would Valve have access to my chat history?
are you good at what you do?
i can do 'ick on 'eck
then yes they will
i'd hire you
Where the FRICK is Neon Prime?
I must be one of them because steams UI is shit and has been for a decade.
>scroll one click down
>whole page jumps past what you’re looking at
>doesn’t sync to what your computer scroll settings are
Pure incompetence.
i'm here to do nothing all day. i'm the very best, sir. no one can be less productive than me.
yes gatekeeping as hard as possible it's the ONLY way. thankfully they're private otherwise the tribe would decide that all those 10 are a bunch of monkeys
that seems like a 100% valid expectation for valve
I worked for valve. Weird company internally, bunch of research scientists on the hardware side and armies of contract manufacturers to actually build hardware.
Man i love gaben so much
They are playing in a whole other level
How hard is it to run a storefront?
>having standards bad
yeah and almost all of them are employed by google
The standard for working in Valve is so high, that actual employees themselves don't know how to properly operate so they do nothing instead.
as long as they pay me more than 900€ a month I can do everything
pcbro
wth
well, it is a company ran exclusively by israelites and their shabbos goyim.
since you literally dont know what they actually mean with taht statement, no john, you are the arrogant c**t.
what if the unique requirement for working at valve is to have a large enough mouth to fit gabens prodigious wiener whole, but also a long and nimble enough tongue to caress his prostate through his butthole?
not many people can have the physical traits for that, and of those even fewer the willpower and devotion. or are you going to tell us that YOU would be able and willing to do it?
I know a tiny bit of html CSS and python and I feel fully qualified to work at valve. They haven't done anything worthwhile in ages.
please hire the needful valve sirs
It takes a very special person to sit around watching Steam money roll in all day.
well, think about it being a professional who specializes in doing literally nothing is likely a very difficult hiring ceiling.
10k is a lot
Valve does not do anything on Linux, the GitHub history shows zero employees doing work.
maybe in 1997 when you had Black folk like casali and the bunch on your payroll.
everyone worth their salt is long gone from valve, or had resigned to mediocrity.
Gabe Newell and his valve wienersuckers think their little gay company is going to last forever lmao
yeah the competition is looking pretty fierce from ubiso- no i mean microso- uh...uhm...epic games....no no they barely implemented a shopping cart feature...hmm...
That and they're will always be phsical... oh nope. Not that either. Which honestly frick Valve and all the Distributors who abandoned physical media.
Amazon destroyed Barnes and Noble and public libraries and Steam destroyed Battle.Net and Games for Windows, they know companies cant exist forever
considering nobodoy does shit at valve and they rack in free money from steam and constantly cancel multi million dollar projects I'd say they are announcing they can afford to pay 10.000 more people before they start going under
Found the commie homosexual.
gatekeeping only frustrates people the gate is supposed to keep out
I just applied. I'll try to check back in and let everybody know how it goes.
Valve doesn't make anything good anymore and their hardware is largely built by contracted third parties.
You're not taken in by Valve because you have talent, you're taken in as a nepotism hire to collect a free check doing the minimum all day.
Valve has stopped being mainly a game company years ago, they are mainly software/hardware company nowadays
Well they only hire experienced hardware or software engineers probably in the top 10% of their field that also have an interest in video games and want to move to Seattle so yeah not a lot of people but probably not as exclusive as everyone thinks.
Interesting thread to read, thanks Ganker for not shitting it up.
