WRPGs and Guns

Am I the only who feel like this? Whenever I see a WRPG with guns, it takes me out of game. Seriously, the way they play makes it hard to tell what the developers really wanted, do they want a RPG or a FPS? I understand that you have the RPG elements of making your very own character and deciding what route to go and your attribute, but then you have the weapon and fighting gameplay that feel so left field. You can headshot people, but that make me believe it's going to one shot people, but you don't so why even give the option?

Also, I don't feel the sense of progression. With fantasy RPG, I get that feel with type of weapons, armors and spells being more advanced and stronger. Here in your shooter, you get a different gun. I don't feel anything. And the locations all look the same with no sense of exploration. It seems to be a major problem in Fallout, Starfield and Cyberpunk. Does anyone else get that feeling too?

I'm not. Can you explain the term? It doesn't seem to describe anything in particular that you are talking about. You seem to be talking about FPS-RPG hybrids like Borderlands or something.

So, you don't mind guns in Eastern RPGs?

It's just how the gameplay works. See the examples I used, they try to mixed it, but it's comes off wrong.

                >I get that feel with type of weapons, armors and spells being more advanced and stronger.
Yeah sure, when I play Fallout I see no difference whether I use Power Armor and Bozar or Leather Jacket and 10mm Pistol
                LMAO
But then again, that's exactly what you'd expect from a moron who uses the term 'WRPG' unironically.

FPS RPGs always have that problem. Far Cry does it right by unlocking abilities and equipment. If Far Cry wanted to lean more into the RPG side, you would probably have different areas of expertise, such as: crafting, takedowns, endurance, or accuracy. If Far Cry made levelling slow then player builds would be more diverse. One build might rely heavily on drugs and stealth, while another relies on heavy armor and shotguns.

The build diversity would be nowhere near a standard RPG, but it would be enough to give the game some replay value. The Witcher 3 literally only has 2 playstyles (swords or spells) and yet people post their builds all of the time. Just give players too many options when they level up and that's all you need for a skill system.

Sounds like you just have a problem with first-person RPGs.

they give the option because that's what snipers are built around, stacking damage multipliers from headshots and stealth on high damage, low fire rate weapons so the enemy instantly dies or at least gets severely damaged

Thats because its a different take on the genre, you need to approach it differently.
Almost all FPS RPG can be judged as Immersive Sim instead.

The term RPG is very broad.
If you want to go by your logic then only CRPGs are RPGs.

you have autism, and your brain can't un-bucket the first person perspective of the rpg from the first person shooter bucket.
    many such cases around here.

because damage is usually bound to the weapon and not the ammo, in my opinion damage should be bound to the ammo not the weapon, weapon partially modifies the damage, projectile speed and accuracy.
Now you need a good ammo system and an understanding of how projectile penetration works.

Its not just a feeling A lot of these games have a problem where there's no balance at all with the weapons bethesda in particular really doesn't think about balancing any of their weapons so there's no real progression as soon as you get a combat shotgun you don't really need any other weapon if you want you can use a rifle or an smg they almost deal the exact same damage there's no progression in fallout because there's no progression in fallout most of the perks are useless the perks that do something are hardly significant the game just isn't balanced in any way the stats aren't even well thought out end raises unarmed and big guns but you want str because big guns are heavy str raises melee and carry weight but they want endurance because melee takes a ton of damage for no reason unarmed is a stat for no reason when it's the same thing as melee shishkebab weighs less than deathclaw guantlet for no reason any casual player can shoot one more bullet than someone with a min maxed and carefully thought out build and deal the same damage most guns do frick all crit damage and have shit crit multipliers but that information is nowhere in game there's a million bugs and glitches still in the games decades after release fps rpg are some of my favorite but they're all sort of like this just sloppy as frick I think the bar is too low to impress normies

Deus Ex, SS2 and Shadow Tower Abyss did guns the best for a first person RPG by giving you limited ammo but making them really powerful

Is there anything more "Western" than a firearm?
They belong in RPGs, every shittygame without a firearm could be improved by adding guns.
