is the Elite Wireless Controller Series 2(tm) controller worth trying to get or nah? the triggers seem like they could be useful but they also look like theyd get in the fricking way all the time
is the Elite Wireless Controller Series 2(tm) controller worth trying to get or nah? the triggers seem like they could be useful but they also look like theyd get in the fricking way all the time
I'd probably recommend one the of the Series controllers
is that a yes dont get it, or a no do get it?
maybe
Its a "buy once use forever" unless you are a caveman that cant take of its own controllers, so go for it
Untrue. I babied mine and the bumper triggers broke right after the warranty ended. The design of them internally is moronic, the basic series x controller resolved the design flaw, so the inevitable series x elite 3 will probably be fine
The series 1 version rubber grips came off of basically everyone’s controller, including mine
I still use mine I just mapped the bumpers to the top two back facing buttons
Annoyingly, there are no better bumper style Xbox controllers. The wolverine Razer ones can suck a dick
Thats weird, i got the xbox 20 anniversary and have been using it aggressively, no problem so far.
This is exactly my point, the xbox 20th anniversary controller has the same revised bumpers that the Series X controller has, the Series 3 posted by OP has bumpers which feature flimsy plastic membranes which get fricked up
>the inevitable series x elite 3 will probably be fine
estimated toa if any? im not desperate for a new controller since i have a switch pro but not really keen on waiting
>All that being said that circle dpad was my absolute favorite thing ever
really? that was the first thing i was thinking would be a pita
>im not desperate for a new controller since i have a switch pro but not really keen on waiting
why not just get xbox series controller
if you need paddles and shit you are playing a type of game that is meant to be played on mkb.
im not object to getting one of those, but i was looking for something that i could keep for ages and not have to get anything 'better' or replace due to broken shit. how does the series fare compared to the elite?
you can change it back to a regular style dpad but I loved the circle pad to death a lot
eh, even if true the time has passed. I got a cheap ps4 controller to use on pc. Gets the job done and if it ever breaks I can just scrap it and get a new one for like 20 doll hairs.
i had one, never used the triggers cause they do get in the way all the time. Got rid of it cause the bumpers suffer the same issue as the regular controllers where the bar holding them together breaks after some use. It's an easy enough part to replace but a 200 dollar controller should really be built fricking better. All that being said that circle dpad was my absolute favorite thing ever.
>It's an easy enough part to replace but a 200 dollar controller should really be built fricking better.
is designed better now
no
theyre internally identical to a regular controller, elite stuff is a scam
This. My left stick started drifting at like 50 hours of use too you spend 200 bucks to get trash I'd rather spend that money buying multiple 360 controllers
>My left stick started drifting at like 50 hours of use
That's because you force your stick super hard while playing. An analog stick is an electronic device and i've noticed that people in their 20s dont respect electronics and push on sticks too hard
I have never had this happen to a single analog stick, and yet *somehow* stick drift affects so many of you, and it affects many of you several times in a row.
apply the concept of learning.
I've never once had stick drift on any controller in my entire life.
So i'm beginning to wonder, are people just tossing their controllers around? Letting them fall hard onto the ground?
they are mistreating them and i had an epiphany about it lately when i was watching a guys youtube video, a zoomer. he was FORCING the stick. like he was trying to push the stick through the gate. That's why 15% of Ganker has perpetual stick drift.
I have used analog controllers since the early 1990s and I have had one drift ever. An Xbox 360 controller that had been dropped from desk height at least 8 times.
Frick off moron
you are one stupid motherfricker
Sure bud that's why my Xbox 360 controller works just fine after hundreds of hours of use and the series x one died right away. I also beat on the 360 one more I've had it since 2010
Xbox 360 controller factually being of more robust build does nothing to dispel the notion that it is you, pushing the sticks too hard
Okay dude that's totally why there was a class action lawsuit against microshits new controllers for their sticks drifting. Why are you shilling for garbage homosexual?
>Consumers who alleged that wireless Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox One controllers have a design defect that causes “stick drift” agreed to drop their lawsuit, according to federal court filings in Washington.Dec 28, 2021
oh noooooo
when you get past high school you realize that "a lawsuit was filed" or "a study exists" is meaningless and doesn't win you arguments.
it's you. I have never had the issue and I have played with analog sticks since the day they came out for home consoles.
Okay homosexual guess rrod never existed either
>goalposts move so hard they become basketball goals instead
try forcing your sticks less hard. there is almost zero force required to operate analog sticks. i have SEEN some of you do this on video, i KNOW some of you do this. i fricking KNOW it. at least CONSIDER A POSSIBLE REALITY WHERE YOU ARE AT FAULT.
literally everyone under 40 lacks the ability to do that seemingly, and it has fricked you all up so fricking hard. you can't even see.
the sega pads generally called the other best all time dpads are all round bro
whatever, though. if you get one, you'll agree with me, i'm confident. it's loud though! odd factor
Cool headcannon moron. I'm just glad the lawsuit forced microsoft to extend the warranty
Except it didn't, actual headcannon moron, they extended the warranty before the suit
How's the dpad on both this one and SeX controller?
And how does it compare to something like the DS4?
sex controller has the best dpad since sega saturn days.
t. dpad enthusiast
it doesn't compare to DS4 it is a new type feeling of dpad.
Really?? That's very promising!
I've always thought it sucked because of the weird round design. But it's good then?
How about the Elite Controller
?
have you tried it yet?
>weird round design
I don't know why you would think that's weird. that is a legacy design. the weird design is playstation's segmented dpad which has literally always been bad, forever. it's conceptually bad- you don't make the dpad stop existing in half the directions, wtf.
Dunno. I guess I'm more used to the cross design from old dpads. The roundness of the Sex made me think it would be very easy to press two directions accidentally.
ive tried the one in your picture and i found it works alright, it lead me to wonder what the elite one was like
anything with that pad and normal layout?
t. hater of DS4 dpad
xbox pad layout is normal layout. whatever they changed in the xbox sex pad is unique to it, the closest feeling thing in history is probably the neo geo cd/portable stickpad because it was also clickly. it doesn't move like that, it just clicks like that.
normal as in both sticks and dpad being where they belong
correct, xbox pad is the normal layout unless you primarily play 2d games.
i'm in school for occupational therapy with a focus on ergonomics, so you aren't going to win this line of thought against me, i suggest abandoning it. ps controller is unergonomic. objectively speaking. opinion of medical science.
dpad belongs in the same position as face buttons and no meme degree will change that so kindly blow it out your ass
>ignore geometry and the shape of your hands, x belongs in y position because that's what I grew up with
sorry, you're wrong, and next generation sony will swap sticks if they're still around, too. there probably will not be a playstation 6 though they are dying and will become software only
no, it's trash. buy xbox series controller as your default controller if you don't have one.
>having to constantly reach into the middle of the pad is ergonomic because some meme study says so
there isn't an argument about this, it's set in stone, you are simply wrong and religious about the brand you grew up with
>brand you grew up with
literally never owned a PS or a PS controller before DS4
It is quite literally personal preference. You are a dumb Black person. I grew up exclusively using xbox controllers and a couple years ago picked up a DS4 and love it. The 360 controller used to be my favorite but it's been replaced by the DS4
symmetrical sticks are a fricking meme and this anon is right.
the fact that you have to stop controlling your character to use the dpad is moron.
>symmetrical sticks
who gives a frick about sticks, that's auxiliary shit
if the dpad isn't comfy the pad is automatically shit
>DS4s have gone up $20
So annoying. I love mine and want to get a couple more but can't bring myself to drop $120 just so I have extras.
The Series 1 Elite with an X One adapter from Brook is theonly controller I use and I can use it on anything.
>Bluetooth
>Rechargable battery
>Works on PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox
>Wired or Wireless
>Gyroscope for PS4/Switch motion controls
>Magnetic thumbsticks, adjustable triggers
>Mappable keys
>4 optional back button paddles
They make a new version for the Elite Series 2 but I don't have a PS5 so I don't give a frick
i used that adapter to play ghost of tsushima. great product. can't stand using ps4s horrible experimental controller
That magnetic shit in your hands for hours.. I dunno man. That's some carcinogenic shit surely
>right stick longboi
my homie
>cortana edition
MY homie
>is it good
Yes
>brook X one adapter
how heavy is it? being able to have gyro on an xbox controller is enticing
negligible
does the gyro support work on PC as well? or only PS4/5 and switch?
it does, but it's detected as a PS or switch controller.
it does work on pc, trackpad too. i think you should be able to configure it all in steam controller configurator but you probably have to make it look at the controller as a ps pad instead. shouldnt be hard
I sprung for the X One Adapter Xtra for more battery life and the weight isn't even an issue. I don't regret it.
I find this shit far more cringe than GAYMUR pc cancer.
And I find you to be a homosexual for coming to a controller thread and posting this
Nah, that shit is moronic and those colors make it so much worse.
Interesting, didn't know there was a way to add gyro
My RB is dodgy and doesn't register unless I double tap half the time .
>want new series x controller since my ps5's right stick is starting to drift
>cheapest option is from the official microsoft store but it estimates it'll take a month to deliver
Not worth it. I was foolish enough to buy the first model and the second one and had issues with both. The grip for the first one peeled off and made it very uncomfortable to use, at least the second doesn't have this issue. The second model's triggers started to make noises like bent plastic when I used them only after a week. Then the rubber covers for the trigger adjusters fell off and left a sharp knob behind. Then the analog sticks started to drift. I tried to get it repaired but the system refused to send me a packing slip email, and support wouldn't help me get it. Just buy a cheaper wireless controller. These elite controllers are not durable and not worth the price. How often are you going to change out the sticks, anyway?
I've got the 2nd and I'm convinced the paddles are eroding themselves too. Not had drift issues but plenty of missinputs
jesus, are they really that terrible? it makes the standard xbox controllers sound extremely durable in comparison
Yeah they use shit parts now a days it's definitely a gamble on whether or not you will have any issues
I got one free and it's actually a pretty breakable piece of shit with weird control stick issues. I play mine on PC and the left control stick doesn't reset to neutral properly all the time. My old 360 controller has less issues and is a metric frickton more durable, but it's obviously nowhere near as comfortable to use.
I have one, and I honestly prefer the regular Series controller, if only for the screenshot button.
No. Obsolete since the newer and better (more comfortable) designed series pads came out. Totally over priced and old dated. Going back to one after using a standard series controller was really bad.
I just got this bad boy and let me tell you, my fat gorilla hands are perfect for this beefcake. Cortana lives in the middle Xbox button/screen too.
I had to send mine back for replacement 3 times before I got one that worked right
Over the years i've watched my friends hold my Xbox controllers, and they would always slam the sticks around, hard click it, and just overpress every button.
This is how most people interact with controllers, because this is also how people play them at Gamestop.
Anecdotal experience doesn't mean they don't use shitter parts now moron.
is pic related actually any good?
It's superb for 2d gaming, for 3d the xbox controller has a better stick position.
>better stick position
stupid meme, have a nice day
The quality control is bad, not worth rolling the dice. The series x controller is a much sturdier build so an Elite 3 would likely be good
Controller itself is great, but the bumper buttons require a manual upgrade.
On that note, why is MS is reluctant to add new features to their controllers. Something like a gyro can be pretty nice.
Related question: what's the durability forecast for the DualSense? I noticed that no dev uses the adaptive trigger function even half as hard as Astro's Playroom did. Is that because heavy use could wear down the triggers, or is it because they think most gamers have weak fingies?
It had some stick failures at launch. I expect it'll get worse over time. Triggers have hard plastic for resistance so I'm sure they'll fail
I expect basically all dualsense controllers to have a fundamental failure at 2.5 years max when used for typical console functions (lot of fps, racing, etc using triggers)
i've had my dualsense for about a year now
couple months ago the cross button started to get sticky and uneven to press. opened it up and cleaned it and it was fine
now though my right thumbstick is starting to drift slightly downward and fidgets when pushed left or right
>tfw all stores in town out of stock
:~~*
if you use the brooks adapter for gyro, it's probably one of the best controllers you can get.
Just get a real arcade controller and learn to use it with FPS vidya. You'll be better this way.
FPS with a controller is shit anyway.
