This issue was only fixed early this year and coincidentally now we're suddenly seeing devs taking more of a risk on current gen with Microsoft outright stating they're not making games for the Xbone anymore.
Current gen didn't even start until like March of this year, the first two years they were in a holding pattern where normal, average people had to follow Discord bots and Twitter accounts then sit in queues and play dumb raffles if they wanted to even purchase the systems at all.

2027 would be the same length between the Xbone and the Series X/S consoles. Going a year earlier wouldn't be surprising because there's no plans for a "Pro" Series X. May as well jump start gen 11 instead.

It's a list of every PS5 "exclusive" (some even unreleased), and yet it's selling better than the PS4.
A lot of people this gen have the excuse of holding out for a more powerful console that wasn't just a "pro" console. Next gen needs to deliver on the games if they hope to have people actually buy the consoles.

Activision's problem wasn't that they were making money because they were making a lot of money and still the biggest third party in the industry before they were bought. Their problem was that because of Kottick's presence and the scandals around the company management had destroyed the share price because investors and shareholders were no longer confident so their share price tanked even though profits were at an all time high thanks to the pandemic and Call Of Duty Warzone in particular. They had gone from a $95 billion valuation to $65 Billion in mere months because there was no confidence in their management. Things were that bad.
Microsoft came in at that low price and offered to buy the company so Kottick and his management could bail while shareholders were happy to see a return back with a premium after Kottick had fricked up the company.

That's kind of my thing with Xbox games these days, they all just seem "fine" at best, come out, and nobody gives a shit. Plus they announce way too many thing way too early, most of the games listed are in development hell and have no gameplay to show.
Phil seems like a cool guy but Xbox games aren't for me anymore, and I think they aren't for a most people anymore. That's fine but they're trying to sell a console too, so they need some games with mass appeal like Halo and Gears used to if they want people to buy these consoles over the competition.

Those were third party and before great leaps were made to proton for the deck. Games for Windows Live was Microsoft's chance to compete in the PC market and they blew it. Blizzard and Bethesda had 2 of the largest storefronts on PC too, but Microsoft still bent the knee to Valve and now 30% of their games sales go to funding Linux. Microsoft is a third party dev on PC and its pathetic.

Linux will never be more popular than Windows, ever. I use it but still use qemu/kvm to play my games on Windows. 99.9% of people do not want to deal with the bullshit from Linux.
Valve had already taken the complexity out of PC gaming. Absolute morons can be PC gamers now because Steam takes care of everything. The drivers, the controllers, the rub times. All Valve has to do is make a Deck equivalent for idiots and then offer discounts for Linuxgays or make Half Life 3 Linux exclusive
They're doing great work, SteamOS is amazing on handhelds. But most people don't want to deal with fiddling with any compatibility layers and they definitely don't want games that are just downright incompatible. I hope they don't give up on it (i don't think they will, steam decks are doing well) but every big multiplayer game needs to be as easy to get going on Linux as it is on Windows if they want people to switch.
Microsoft will engage in a ton of illegal anti-competitive shit before they let that happen, like making it so all drivers and shit to make games run requires some bullshit that you can only find in the newest version of Windows. i'm sure they're already planning something like that to try to force people off non-shit versions of Windows.
