I hate how the series was rebooted to have another phoenix leading but as soon as the woke started they handed the reigns to a boss girl that gets the only good character (and her uncle) killed and yet they couldn't fully commit to kill JD, only leaving it ambiguous but pleasing nobody. used to be a huge gears fan but now I don't give a frick about the series.
I think Gears 4’s story was mostly from old plans Epic had for another game but 5 and onward is all the coalition which led to Kait being the MC and the “questionable” choices in 5 especially near the end

full disclosure i played for about a week at launch before putting it down but the big kickers for me were

It did finally get content, but it only too like a year or two. The invasion mode or whatever where you go into a hive was kind of fun.
in fairness to TC they fixed 99% of these issues, I started playing during Operation 4 after playing Gears Tactics and Horde was fun as frick.

If TC hadn't botched the launch and the beginning of the games lifespan it could have been great

6 Ears of War actually sound like a cool and cheesy title that Kojima would make about three soldiers trapped behind enemy lines and have to fight nearly-invisible enemies so sound play a large part.

Advanced Warfare actually used an in-house engine developed (mostly) from the ground up by Sledgehammer Games. Remaster, Remaster 2, and WWII used variants of it. Everything else in the series has been some iteration of the IW engine.
