Gamepass made me more of an Xbox fan though, even if it's just PC Gamepass and I just use it to try Xbox games before buying them on Steam or, in the case of Fallout, GOG. To me, the Hi-Fi Rush or really any game Xbox puts out on other consoles means nothing to me since I already get them on PC anyway.

Hi-FI Rush is the first ever real rhythm action game. (they stole my game idea of guy with a guitar performing DMC pause combos to rhythm intervals) they didn't do everything right, the game actually has a lot of bad design but it's truly a unique work of passion and deserves to be preserved.

They might be having trouble getting it to run on the Switch, and are maybe looking at the Switch 2. I could imagine even slight framerate issues would frick this game up, due to the rhythmic nature of it.

pic related is my rhythm game engine and me dropping the FPS from 60 down to 30 and then back up. it doesn't matter how rapidly you do it, everything keeps time because the rendering is dictated by the audio player.

it's very simple. you take the variable of the beat the animation started on (calculated from the track position) and then you just lerp the animation progression based on the track distance to next beat you want the next key point in the animation to land on.
again entirely based on the audio processing and not FPS. unless your FPS is something like 2 fps it will make no difference.
I'm no expert, but like all the environments, and movements of objects, like platforms, are all timed to the beat of the music in the background. Not just the character animations, but everything in the game. I could imagine making sure all of that staying exactly in sync could prove an issue when moving to less powerful hardware.
HiFi rush is a rhythm game based on actual music, your not hitting the button when a circle is in a smaller circle, your keeping the beat of a song, while fighting enemies all around you. Even if everything in the game still lines up, it will throw you off if the tempo slows due to framerate dropping

in Unreal Engine the Audio (wwise system in this case) is processed separately from the game logic and the information going through the GPU.
this is why if you switch a game from 60 fps to 30 fps the audio isn't suddenly half speed.
imagine you have an mp3 player, playing music and then you have a program displaying things on the screen based on the data from the MP3 player. even if the program completely shits itself and falls below 1 fps. the mp3 player is unaffected and still plays music.
the audio player is the first thing in the chain of logic and then everything else is merely reading from it.
