Third party exclusives are basically dead. The best you can get these days is a timed exclusive unless you're outright paying for the game entirely like Nintendo did with Bayonetta 2 and 3. Publishers have tasted the fruit of multiplatform releases and they refuse to go back. Unfortunately, third party exclusives were Playstation's bread and butter.
That isn't to say that PS hasn't had good first party IPs... but those IPs never had a very long life. Spyro and Crash were let go in the leap from PS1 to PS2, Jak & Daxter were basically abandoned after the PS2... Gran Turismo, God of War, and Ratchet & Clank are their oldest IPs, and none of them really shine as bright as they did back in their respective glory days. TLOU already floundered with its ONE sequel. Uncharted was always the junk food of their IPs. And we all know what they did to Japan Studio and the countless number of games they used to pump out or at least aide development in.
PS was always on borrowed time. They didn't build a good set of first party developers, or first party IPs. Hell, their biggest release last year was a first party game using a third party IP(Spider-Man.) They don't have the exclusives to support their branding, instead they're hanging on from the PS4's sheer momentum. It's the Xbox 360 of this generation. People will buy it but only because their friends have it.
For their sake, let's hope they never make an Xbone tier frick up because they'll literally never recover from it if they do.

If they had to actually take a critical look at what games to invest and what to drop, they would have to know what a good game looks like and the people at the top of publishers don't play games or even know anyone who does. Every game only "needs" six years of development and cost $200 million because until recently those games were at least guaranteed to make their money back, but budgets have gotten so bloated and the economy has gotten so shitty that even that's not true anymore. PS3 and PS4 were 7 years long because Sony could do that, and could afford to, and could afford for their next gens (ps4 and ps5) to have cross platform titles because there was no threat to sales.
The switch 2 represents a bit of an existential threat to Sony because of the possibility that any PS5 game could potentially run on the switch 2 with the creative use of DLSS. To them this means the remainder of the PS5's lifespan and the early year or two of the PS6 may see most third parties releasing nearly every game on switch 2, so Sony is trying to end this gen as soon as possible with Xbox soon out of the picture.
I'd expect a PS6 by September 2026 at the latest
