At Platinum, he's beholden to contract work with third parties while his publishing arm probably didn't want to fund his passion projects which would sell like shit.
At Microsoft I this role he'd basically be able to throw money at whomever he wants to get their game made and shape the brand entirely to his liking for his home region.
Microsoft once made Molyneux head of games so its only fitting Kamiya gets the job too
