Xbox Poached Kamiya for Head of Xbox Japan

>Phil Spencer is currently in Japan for Tokyo Game Show and to check on Kojima's Xbox game
>Mysteriously Kamiya announces he is leaving Platinum
>Coincidentally, Xbox is hiring for someone to be the Head of Xbox Japan (with very steep requirements, someone like Kamiya fulfills).

People think he went to China, I don't think so, the coincidences are adding up. I would not be surprised if Phil checked in on Platinum and saw a dead end company and asked Kamiya if he wanted to get out of there.

Kamiya fits the role in all ways and Platinum is basically done, so I doubt MS would care about burning bridges by taking Kamiya.

Also because he would get to make all decisions including which Japanese games Xbox should fund he'd get a position to basically choose who he wants to make Scalebound lol.

That would actually be an awful choice, Kamiya is not a good president, he is a good director for games but it ends there

So they put this rude manchild in charge of xbox japan? He's extremely unprofessional.

What’s the Japanese opinion of him? If he’s a rude Japanese man who breaks the rules, he might make a decent fit for a foreign company executive. Like, everyone in Japan already hates and ignores him, so he might as well shill for Baka gaijins. Is that how he’s seen?

He's very respectful and well liked in japan. He's only rude to westerners on Twitter

Bother, if the job link is still out there then it means it's not been filled yet. Kamiya would not have quit his current job before knowing he has a new one. How fricking stupid are you?

    >Hiring fricking Kamiya to do anything let alone being head of an entire foreign division
That would only cement Phil's position of King moron, I also don't see Kamiya doing it after the Scalebound fiasco anyway.

    >This individual will have full autonomy to impact and influence the business in Japan

So what, could Kamiya just bankroll a bunch of sexy Bayonetta clones as he pleases?

Just tell MS "uh yeah this is what Japan wants", if they're apparently depending on this to "understand Japan" lmao

He wouldn't be able to be involved in the creative process of any of them though as he'd be busy leading Xbox

I see that the role also has to take control of how Xbox does marketing in Japan.

What could Kamiya do to market Xbox in Japan? Official sexy Series X-tan?

With him selling off platinum to the chinese, then leaving it to work for the company that gave his company so much issues.

This reads like a top 10 anime betrayal

only reason scalebound was cancelled was because xbox one was too weak at the time. xbox series x can do it now. microsoft leaks also show new xbox in the works. its going to harness the power of ai using a co processor. sounds like something scalebound would use to offload all the shit going on.

At Platinum, he's beholden to contract work with third parties while his publishing arm probably didn't want to fund his passion projects which would sell like shit.
At Microsoft I this role he'd basically be able to throw money at whomever he wants to get their game made and shape the brand entirely to his liking for his home region.

Doubtful. If anything they'd give him creative control over a studio they already set up. He's not enough of a moneyman to lead Xbox Japan.
