The entire video game industry will be even more centralized than before. There will be Steam/PS Store/Nintendo Store (if they don't frick up). Anything these Stores will demand will become law and there won't be any escape routes.
As soon as Gaben dies and Sony feels comfortable enough these Stores will transform completely.
As an xbox owner this changes literally nothing for me. I don't even play their modern exclusives but I still can if I wanted to. If I wanted exclusives I'd have bought a PS5. Sony exclusives are still shit though and I don't want to play them.
Why would Microsoft release their bigger franchies on the PS5 when the PS5 has been fumbling over and over since last year with SP2 being shit, Ronin being shit, Stellar Blade being underwhelming and Helldivers dropping off and nothing else in the pipeline for 2 years?
Meanwhile the Series X has 5 first party titles in line for this year and more slated for the next + Activision Blizzard IP's/Call of Duty profits

The MS leadership has enough of Phils incompetence. Starfield was unironically the last straw. They want short term profit and they want it yesterday. The handful of acceptable games they made will bring in a lot of money short term. They don't give a frick about the Xbox userbase anymore, 3 out of the 4 first party games they released are running better on PS5. They don't give a frick.
