I think there's a case to be made for Starfield showing that games can be too hyped if corporations throw too much advertising budget at something and that directly influences how everyone perceives the game. An average game becomes a shit game if it was supposed to be the savior of an entire platform. Cyberpunk had this problem too and arguably even TotK did. They collapsed upon the hype that was surrounding them, the only recent game that's managed to have a stupid amount of hype around it and actually lived up to expectations was Elden Ring but even then the very end of the game left some disappointed.
Hopefully companies start to realize that they can't skimp on the gameplay and throw everything into he advertising budget to compensate anymore.
