its good. but in the end its still xcom 2 and you're gonna get fricked by the rng of map randomisation and take one step forward and trigger everything at once.
theres more to it. recall that lw2 was abandoned when the devs went on to make their own game.
I'm a Long War 1 autist. My biggest problem with Long War 2 was how RNG became boolean bullshit. XCOM type RNG typically was miss rates, but these miss rates can be massaged by various factors, and you have effective backup tools like flashbangs and smoke to get you out of trouble. One of the last updates of Long War 2 fricked with fire grenades, making them a 50% chance to make enemies catch fire. Compounded with Flashbangs having a dice roll to affect higher tier aliens instead of just having some with immunity, or lessening the effects of flashbangs it is another "all or nothing" situation.
So frick it, just kill everything on screen in an alpha strike, because death is now the only reliable status effect you can impose.
Xcom Enemy Within also feels a lot neater and more cohesive compared to Xcom 2 that feels laggy and floaty. When you are playing these campaigns for dozens upon dozens of hours the little things are very important.
XCOM 1 will always be inferior to XCOM 2 due to the reliance on overwatch, the most effective tactic is to just sit there, overwatch all and wait for the enemies to come to you.
Campaign is way too long to be enjoyable
Really sucks how you can start losing a campaign, after 50 hours of those repetitive missions, without a clear idea what you did wrong
Finally FINALLY won a campaign of LW2 after hundreds of hours
The next week they announce 'lol aktualy we did maek LWotC ^^'
well frick you, frick you forever
> Can't fricking recruit more soldiers, only get "resistance personell" > covering down no longer removes burning, so all my soldiers burned to death
Uninstalled. Loading times were crazy cus of my 260 mods anyway
Video games?
Best way to play modern XCOM games, once you played with it you won't go back to vanilla
LW1 > LW2
I always see this opinion but no one explains why.

Long War of the Chosen is being worked on as we speak and its already fairly complete.
The OG LW team left but a new team took up the mod and the code.
How many have actually finished a Long War campaign? Feels like a waste of time.
if you want to play a lot of xcom. then there you go. its not about "im going to play a campaign"

That's a Beaglerush meme. I don't use Overwatch anymore, I'd rather just control my shots, and earn Meld reliably.
What happened to that homosexual anyway? I stopped watching when he endorsed communism on a stream.
I bailed years ago when he got a girlfriend and had to include her. not that he was putting out any videos anyway
And both will always be inferior to the X-COM: UFO Defense
I also like the mec classes and how they work in 1
You can mod them into 2 and they are insanely strong but can still die if you frick up placements and shit

Play xpiratez
Xpiratez is classic XCOM and feels quite different, i agree that its the best XCOM experience you can have.

LW2 is way better than WoTC or LWWotC
How so?
Wut
it's too long
its not called short war
I didn't like xcom 2 and neither wotc or long war changed anything about that.
LW1 remains king for nucom.
are overwatch classes just as op as in standard LW2
