Here is a question for Xeno lore nuts
Why does Shulk look and sound like Klaus? Arglas didn't and he was also a vessel for Zanza.

My best guess? Ontos frickery.
Trinity core bullshit was a mistake
i wish I could get into xc2 because the girls are hot but I just can't.
It improves a LOT after Uraya, which is about 30 hours in.
So you're saying it's only good because of mythra?
Rather because at that point you get the 3rd blade slot, which reduces downtime in combat by a lot.
"it gets good after 30 hours" unironically
???
That's literally when the game falls off a cliff with the inane Roc being stolen plotline into the irrelevant Mor Ardain Tora plotline. It only picks up again after SCE
LMAO I wish I could stick with it for 30 hours, I might just try to play it again for like the 5th time
You mean 10 hours, unless you spend time fricking around.
How long after the mercenary company inside the belly is Uraya? That's the furthest I've made it to.
You explore the 2nd part of Uraya, make it to main city and then finish the chapter.
After reaching Garfont, you go and explore a bit to do one job for Vandham, return and beat a boss, then you head out for Fonsa Myma which is at the other side of Uraya. It’s an hour or two at most unless you stop to go do side quests or explore.
I did a lot of sidequest in the furry village but I didn't get the same sense of fulfillment as I got doing sidequests for the nopon village in 1.
Been playing Xeno3 and it's a crime how damn bad Xeno2 was compared to the other 2.
>Shitty maps
>Fricking GACHA
>Interactable character specific collectables in the overworld when Xeno 1 perfected that system
XC3 is absolute dogshit.

What the frick are you talking about
Rent free
>replying to a post about XC3
>"hurrr rent free"
Your bot is malfunctioning
No, no I think it was spot on.
>I think
I highly doubt that
Exploration wise, so far it's mogging the shit out of 2 and it's on par with 1.
>Exploration wise
>thinks 1 is good
lol, lmao even
Oh, you're one of those that only played 2 because of Pyra/Mythra in Smash.
Carry on then.
>the smash cope again
hahahahahaha
NTA but he's kinda right, exploration in 1 was pretty lacking, it's just big open mostly flat fields with mostly frick all to find in them
It would be greatly improved it you had a way to traverse on land faster
There is.
When I just wanted to get to places I slapped a set of this to Sharla.
Also iirc Riki has skills that increase movement speed which you can slot onto other characters
At least 3 doesn't have Gacha elements

>farming bosses for legendary cores in xenoblade 2
>AHHHH WHAT THE FRICK IS THIS GACHA SHIT
>farming trash mobs for a .005% rare drop in other JRPGs
Genuinely curious what game?
I think I've only done that king of farming for the best weapon(s) in Mother 3 and even then the rates weren't so bad iirc.
I wasn't thinking of a game in particular, point is just that rare drops are very commonplace in JRPGs but somehow it's wrong when Xenoblade 2 does it but dressed up as a gacha. That's literally all they are at the end of the day, rare weapon drops. You get cores from enemies and through a few other methods (though usually those are fixed Blades), so what's the difference? There's only a handful of blades that are actually difficult to acquire. None of the random Blades even have unique weapons or anything, so you're not missing gameplay like that other moron is saying.
easy distinction
>normal JRPG
>kill enemy
>check if it dropped what you wanted
>if it didn't, do it again
>Xenobkade 2
>kill enemy
>check if it dropped a core crystal
>open the menu
>open the blade bonding menu
>select a character
>select a core
>select whether to use the thingamajig that biases the rates towards a pair of elements
>choose yes
>skip animation (optional but it's better to do so for the sake of your sanity)
>check if you got what you wanted
>if not, go back to step 6
>if you run out of cores, go back to the first step
I love the game, I have clocked 600h into it, but there's no defending how trash the blade bonding system is
>optional but it's better to do so for the sake of your sanity
We don't need sanity where we're going.
then you just play in the 1.0 version where you couldn't skip it
I farmed for Zenobia in that version
It was horrible
Why is he so bald
He stole 40 cakes.
>defending locking gameplay behind a lottery
Embarrassing.
Cope you filtered moron
You're on the board that has daily bump limit threads for genshit, anon. These morons are unsalvageable.
I like Machina Reyn more than normal Reyn.
>actually preferring orb collectibles
Are you fricking moronic? Orbs would only give you ONE collectible at a time and would only respawn after moving through areas multiple times, waiting for several minutes, or closing and re-opening the game. Meanwhile 2 can give you dozens of collectibles at a time and instantly respawns collection points when you fast travel to the same area without having to go anywhere else. The fact that it's "character specific" hardly matters because each fixed party member has a different collection point skill so you have one of each. Not to mention you'll accumulate others as you progress. Even if you didn't have any of the skills, you'd still get more collectibles with no skills than you would with an orb in 1.
I want to too but the combat system in 2 is SO FRICKING BAD
You can always watch a walk-through of it on youtube if you can't get into the game personally for whatever reason . I don't get the complaining when you always have other options.
I think shulk is essential a biological duplicate and mental (as in they think alike) of klaus. Not a clone but I'm sure through God meddling they made it so generations upon generations they end up with a homs identical to Klaus before he pressed the make anime real button. It could also be along the lines of the recurring theme the xeno series has with reincarnation so whatever.
Ever noticed how shulk backwards is almost the same as klaus?
The idea is that Shulk/Zanza/Klaus all share their looks as different versions of the same person in some way as Takahashi loves that trope.
Arglas is never explained, you could argue he was an incomplete vessel or something like that I guess.
Thats my thought. Arglas being possessed was a desperate action zanza took out of fear his creations will turn against him. Planning to take over Shulk was more thought out and a long term scheme.
It also makes sense in retrospect that ontos had to be granted permission from the person who started the experiment to end it and shulk essentially being the only remaining version of klaus left fulfilled that criteria albeit a loophole
This is probably a weird question not quite fit for this thread, but how much will I lose out on if I play XC2 entirely in portable mode? I definitely preferred XC1 on the TV, but I had to move and won't be getting a new TV for a while due to some issues with my current living situation. I don't know how much longer I'll have to put it off for, I kinda want to just bite the bullet and play XC2 like this.
Wouldn't recommend it, it legitimately runs at like 300p on portable.
I mean it's playable but even in docked mode XC2 has very noticeable performance issues, especially in a couple of the towns. If you have a decent PC I'd recommend just emulating it instead.
It's not that bad really. Go for it
He was shaped into Klaus' image from being possessed for essentially his entire life. Also eternal recurrence
My guess is that Shulk was specifically created t be Zanza's vessel. Arglas was just a giant he jumped into.
Can someone refresh me on Xenoblade 1's endgame story? I seem to recall a lot of incredibly strange things being revealed but I couldn't grasp the specifics. Does Xenoblade X, 2 and 3 also turn into obtuse Xenogears shit right at the end or what?
>Does Xenoblade X, 2 and 3 also turn into obtuse Xenogears shit right at the end
No, and neither does XC1 really, it wasn't all that weird/obtuse/confusing at all.
He's not wrong.
Is that?...
dunban
2 and 3 definitely start prioritizing the "science" part of sci-fi towards the end.
X does that from the very start.
I need to finish these damn games. I put in like 30 hours each and I'm not even halfway, its very frustrating never finding out what happens.
>Earth scientist harnesses a power he doesn't fully understand and ends up deleting his universe in favor of a new one where he is "God"
>Except he's not really God, and he's overthrown with the power of love and friendship when the real God (Alvis) betrays him.
>does xenoblade X, 2 and 3 also turn into obtuse Xenogears shit
2 and 3 just build on what was established in 1. And ultimately the atory is just a retelling of Xenogears, just the same Xenosaga was.
I should probably beat 2 before 3 then if it all builds up to something. No X?
X is entirely unrelated so far, so you can play it whenever.
As of right now, X is just a spinoff.
As of 3's DLC, Xenosaga is also atleast partially canon to the Xenoblade setting, so play those if you haven't yet.
>X is just a spinoff.
>As of 3's DLC, Xenosaga is also atleast partially canon
FR references X as well as Xenosaga, so they are both "partially canon" if that's how you interpret it
X? Sorta but not so much, it's not a plot heavy game.
2 definitely does, even moreso than 1.
3 is a Xenogears rehash, but falls apart in its final arc and fails to understand what made Xenogears' or 1 & 2's frickery good. The DLC story expansion is kino though
The guy who wrote Xenogears wrote this game, right? Because the characters in that game displayed increibly complex personalities which were the result of a deep understanding of psychology while the characters in this game appears to be generic anime tropes.
>the characters in that game displayed increibly complex personalities which were the result of a deep understanding of psychology
Can you get any more pretentious?
This is a Xeno thread, right?
Mm, fair.
>Xenogears
Jokes on you, all Xeno games are based off a variety of anime and sci-fi movies. There's plenty of schizo kino in 2 and 3. Also the writer for Gears was his wife who has since retired.
What a buncha jokahs
I need more sharla art
Sharla only gets fanart whenever the XC1 anniversary happens each year, when she gets in a couple of group pics with the rest of the cast.
She legitimately gets nothing else ever.
I like this one. Got more?
The artist for that one is
https://twitter.com/Burnt_Green_Tea/status/1673745354259591168
I don't really have a Sharla folder though since she gets so little, so I'd have to search around my "random xeno pics" folder for stuff with her.
Move harlot, I can barely see my Hero
She grew up
More like Melia Milktanqua
Yes.
>Still eternally single.
>eternally
She's pretty young by high entia standards.
>Great friends.
Just because she didn't get with Shulk doesn't mean she can never be with anyone.
The games make it pretty clear that Melia only wants Shulk and will stay a virgin until the day he returns and slams his Monado REX+ inside her High Entia Tomb.
>The games make it pretty clear that [headcanon]
>speedreader secondary
She's already gotten over it by Future Connected
THIS.
>Melia only wants shulk
She already got over her crush by the time of FC. Stop being moronic.
Melia isn't allowed to be happy.
She can be happy after Origin merges the worlds.
Might be the single worst element of 1's story in a vacuum. The fricking asspull magic flesh machine that turns Fiora back to normal for a single cutscene at the end.
Let's be honest.
Everyone would be happy if Melia finally lost her virginity.
But Takahashi hates us.
This is why Melia is still a virgin.
This is why we got 3.
Melia's family believed in polygamy so there's no reason why shulk can't have Melia and fiora
Great job missing the point
The second consort tradition is something she wouldn't continue
Guy with blonde short hair looks like another guy with blonde short hair? Crazy!
Here is OFFICIAL answer
Also it should be noted Takahashi was deceptive in a few of his supposed answers before for the sake of keeping big reveals a secret
how many posts would it take for you to tl;dr this?
NTA but its the principals behind phase transition, which is actually what the conduit/zohar does, it's a literal conduit. When an object is going through a phase transition it passes through a space that doesn't really exist, the realm of collective unconsciousness that is like the sleeping collective thoughts and feelings of all living things. U-DO is upper domain, a higher dimensional existence (aka Wave Existence aka God), the conduit is connecting that power to our lower dimension which is where and how all the chicanery goes down. Klaus failed his phase transition experiment which is why he and the entire Earth exists in two places at once. Origin is an Ark designed to successfully complete the botched transition attempt. The world of XBC3 takes place inside the Imaginary domain mid transition, it's why a being born from collective unconscious, Moebius came into power and the reason behind feelings being power in that place. At the end of the game the experiment is finally completed and the Earth is successfully put back together in phase with the rest of the universe after being lost for thousands of years.
Xenoblade 1 and 2 should be switched since blade 2 is original Earth while 1 is the bits Zanza transitioned. Technically the whole thing was a botched Phase Transition that gets fixed in 3.
I love these schizo-esque charts people make for the Xeno games despite me not really understanding any of them.
These charts are official material, anon
>what 500 years of no pussy does to a mf
DO NOT ACCEPT FOOD FROM THIS MAN
mumble mumble alien technology mumble mysterious past mumble must kill God mumble
Does anyone have the cascading diagram from the Xenosaga era that shows the intended chapters that they never got to make? It might have been from a conpendium.
TWIST: they're not supposed to look anything alike
de's moeblob faces are to blame
Is it me or does Xenoblade one feels like it has more filler like 2
Don't get me wrong it's fun and all, but it just feels like the game sends me in a lot of forced fetchquests before being able to progress, that and the other optional fetchquests don't help either
To be completely fair, nearly everything that happens between Shulk and Reyn setting out to Prison Island and actually reaching Prison Island barely advances the """main""" plot point.
A lot of it's just padding and introducing the rest of the cast.
Funnily enough I'd argue that's when the game, it's characters and its story as a whole is at its most compelling
If it is padding in its strictest sense, it's the best padding I've seen. I loved just exploring the world of Xenoblade.
I couldn't agree more, my most vivid memory of the game was reaching Satori Marsh at night after the insane cutscenes that preceded it and just being in awe, basking in the environment, music and atmosphere.
>after the insane cutscenes that preceded it
>Sorry I'm the mentor character who got wounded so I'll just sit in bed back at the starting village while you carry on my will
>lol jk I ran all the way here, let's kick some ass
Dunban has led my party ever since.
Dunban is just so cool. Given his role in the prologue and the fact that you even played as him, really makes that cutscenes all the more cathartic. I was just as elated as Shulk and Reyn if not more to see him come save us. It really felt like the group was coming together and made the fight against the Mechon feel doable with him by your side.
I’m cooler than him.
>t.
>Shulk
>Dunban
>Riki
Is there any better party than Shulk and his 2 dads?
Riki is so based. His H2H with Shulk at the distant fingertip is one of the best moments of the game along with Dunban/Melia/Riki on the beach.
>Dunban/Melia/Riki beach
>everyone knows that Melia loves Shulk
>they discussed how much Shulk loves Fiora right in front of her
It was kek honestly.
>loves
She just had a crush on him.
Did you miss her monologue in Colony 6? Or the fact that her only memento is his sword?
Did you not play Future Connected?
Yes. She is trying her best to move on.
>headcanon
She says it wasn't that big of a deal. Keep coping though.
I don't like playing Melia so I'm glad she got brutally cucked. She never stood a chance, really.
Xenoblade X is one of the best games of all time shame it's rotting on the Wii u
god i wish that were me
bird's milk
come get yours
headcanon but I would assume because shulk was posessed from a very young age so zanza's presence mightve influenced his development whereas arglas was (presumably?) fully grown when it happened to him
The plot explains it's just a coincidence.
You're trusting Zanza's word on that. He says it could have been anyone, but that's obvious arrogance. The writers aren't very subtle about the whole fate and destiny thing.
Zanza being able to see the future probably made things go the way he can have a homs that looks like him to be his vessel is my guess.
