Because it did and I do. I know that you've probably started browsing this site only recently but there is a vast difference between how Ganker was before and after GG.
In the end GG did not accomplish any of it's goals and instead just made this board even worse with a new generation of users who cared more about socio-politics than games. GG also had a hand in the creation of infinity-chan which is a whole other discussion.

GG had figureheads spearheading the discussion, but mostly the "organization" of it all was nebulous and driven more by ideas and rhetoric than issued commands.
