I see Island Sanctuary as more of an Ishgard Restoration replacement. Which is also incredibly disappointing because Ishgard Restoration is one of the times this game has really felt like an MMO thanks to the heavy community involvement.

With how dogshit snoozewalker has been without foray content I’m not expecting dawntrail to be any different. More so since it has the same content as EW. If they don’t announce any foray/exploratory content in the EU fanfest I’m just not gonna bother with 7.0.
The only thing Bozja did right as having FATEs be mini-Trials. Everything else about it was trash. Doing DR Savage as a single ally before the last zone came out and ruined it with mettle was the only redeeming thing it had going. God damn that requires a lot of coordination for the trash at the start that I've yet to see anywhere else in the game.
I think Eureka's more fun in the end since the gear you get makes more of an impact to how you can play the content, Bozja relics having no Bozja specific bonuses was pretty lame. Nothing makes you feel more powerful than rolling up to some group of baby pullers in your full elemental gear and pulling all the high level mobs in the vicinity just because you can.

It's not a title like "king" that you're born into and hold forever, you hold it as long as your actively fighting for it and preforming your duties.

The premades don’t stack DRK, it’s probably just being picked by people who want to win because it’s insanely cheese. Premades usually do like DRK/DRG/+1 can literally be anything semi AOE. Sometimes BRD to put wardens on the DRK, a lot of times AST for burst, or sch for dots and to buff the DRG damage

I find it suspiciously easy to confirm kills that would slip out of a DPS's hands thanks to Double Down and Continuation attacks playing as GNB, so many chain attacks. And on top of that you can be a shittier PLD in a pinch, if the other team has a tank

It's beautiful. The sheer teamkill capacity of Terminal Trigger+Double Down is also just too delicious to pass up in any teamfight. It's also bizarrely easy to force duels in your favor with Tank or Healer stance constantly feeding you free heals/shields when the opponent is dumping their strongest moves into you.
But the rewards suck...
It doesn't help that you can just purchase the reward from someone on the MB too

This alliance raid spends too much time showing you mechanics before mixing things up that all the bosses die before anything interesting actually happens. If it weren't for Rhalgr's fist arena providing something novel Algaia would already be Void Arc tier on the snoozefest scale.
Void Ark has more mandatory mechanics that have to be respected, as ignoring them will kill you outright or put paralyze on you. iriminsul can still wipe groups.

I assume Corsair will be a reversed RDM. Spend most of the time in melee and build up gauge them spend it for powerful range attacks. I know I know sounds boring but it's the modern XIV philosophy.
Outlaw had tons of random with dice rolls. Also a fun hook. The class was fun until the Devs nerfed it into oblivion . I think it's still in the frick shed even now.
But why go outside of melee range ever? Forced to because of a minimum range? This fricks with most solo content and a lot of stuff that isn't a dungeon because bosses have gotten so huge you're sitting inside the target circle 90% of the time anyway.
More potency if you're 5 meters away from the target for example. But yea I agree hotboxes have gotten so fricking huge it's not even funny anymore. But if they stop doing that shit the mechanic can work.

You can't be cheeky in early dungeons since you don't have your tools. It's just that you have so much mitigation and self healing at high levels that a healer just becomes a suggestion at level cap dungeons. Doubly so if you're playing Warrior since Bloodwhetting may as well be Hallowed Ground with a 25s cooldown in that environment.
Thanks, Anon! Currently my DRK is 69, PLD 66 and WAR 62 I believe. So this'll be fun.
Warrior becomes near-unkillable at level 52 and gets even more sustain as it levels, PLD and GNB gain a lot of sustain at 83, DRK gets a powerful self-shield at 70 but it doesn't scale well into newer dungeon stuff so it ends up being the squishy dungeon tank. It varies a lot by dungeon too though, some dungeons are more difficult than others.
Why is the coolest tank based on Guts the squishy one, and I considered maining it for good baka.
The biggest issue with DRK is that most people are bad at it and it just exacerbates the squishy feeling of it on a big pull. It used to be THE health drain tank too...

Using TBN on cooldown on trash instead of blowing all your MP on Flood of Shadow.
Combining TBN with other mitigation so you're not instantly vaporizing once the shield is broken.
Remember Arm's Length exists and applies Slow to whatever hits you.
Use Abyssal Drain for the healing instead of Carve and Spit for the MP.
Dark Mind's kinda eh in dungeons since most autos are physical but you can get some good mileage out of it in some dungeons.
It's near impossible to be bad with Dark because of how brain-dead it is.

True, yesterday I was doing dungeon roulette for level 90, I'm on heal and there's a warrior, he says "NO HEAL ME PLEASE" so I comply, proceeds to die every other pull lol. I can't provide any recent feedback about DRKs since I never see them in dungeons any more for some reason.

I think WAR actually has more in common with Guts apart from the giant 2H sword thing, DRK is the magic/anti-magic and also super edgy tank. Its still more than playable in dungeon as you've probably discovered, but if your healer is sleeping on the job you will suffer more and have less recovery tools than the other tanks later on.

I just started a few days ago on the trial. Is WHM the "easiest" healer? I don't feel like juggling a bunch of skills and shit for "optimizing" damage/healing. I already did that shit years ago when I used to raid hardcore in wow when i was a moron into progression raiding, so now i just want to support while being casual.

Was thinking of getting into the game myself, by that description, is there such thing as a "good" WHM? It sounds like WHM is the worst of all the healers.
You'll only see way more dogshit WHMs since it's the most popular healer by an order of magnitude. By "least interaction" I mean it provides the least mitigation and shielding (and on long cooldowns) so it never has to think about meaningfully preventing damage and only provides high, sustained pure healing throughput that ends up being a pretty nebulous asset because of the way the game is designed.
XIV strongly favours barrier healers once you get out of ARR, but your DF heroes will love to tell you that one time they totally saved the alliance raid with their sick heals or some shit.

Every healer is viable at end game, I'm just very biased about WHMs. Barrier healers are just better equipped at the high end since mitigation is a way more important asset you can bring to the table than "tops people up real good".

Salvaged accessories are the most consistent thing. You can also try aiming for new items introduced in patches since they'll command a high price when they're new (I made 35m off Deep Sea Marble and nowadays it's worthless), but sometimes you get fricked and it doesn't work out.

Ocean Fishing is good for gathering scrips too, there's custom deliveries for both crafting and gathering but they're weekly locked. Besides that, yeah.
Is it better to complete all the sidequests I can before I go on the main quests before I level up too much they stop being worth the effort needed for the exp they give?
Only do those if you're hurting for XP(very unlikely)
Keep an eye out for these however, these quest icons unlock new features or content you can run/do
you should only do them if you're in the mood to read some extra lore, the exp is pitiful even when compared to just doing fate grind
yellow quests without a plus are almost never worth doing unless you want the extra lore.
the scaling sidequests in shadowbringers and endwalker start giving out enough exp that you can level a second job alongside a main that soaks up all the msq rewards and nearly max the expansion cap from doing those alone
Only the sidequests that have the little picture when you're accepting them are ever worth doing. Those can have good stories, the rest are completely unnecessary

You get so much exp you don't really need to bother unless you want to minimax. Just change your job if you overleveled MSQ.

Basically MSQ gives out tons of experience so you most guaranteed will overlevel it. Let's just say, for example your level is 55 and MSQ is 50. You will barely get any experience, it's better to switch to another job that is 50.
Overlevel as in you will always be a higher level than the story quests, which means no grinding required. It's a good thing if you just wanna steamroll the story and then do side stuff with other jobs.

You can, but it's not essential. There are tons of ways to level jobs efficiently that don't involve juggling jobs for MSQ, especially if you have a 'main job' for your character you'd like to see in cutscenes.
XP does not carry over between jobs, so your current job is at 21 and so the XP you get from it is negligible.
By unlocking a second class (which you will need to start back at level 1) and leveling that class up to 15 you can put that XP to grater use.
Then as you go through the game doing stuff you just switch between the classes and if you keep them even all the XP from the Main story and some of the side quests should keep them even and give you the most bang for your buck.

All jobs are all available on one character but must be unlocked and leveled separatel, you can switch between them by equipping the weapon for that class. (barring Summoner and Scholar which share a level).
At certain parts in the main story you will reach points where unless your level is high enough and your gear score (aggregate level of all your equipped gear) is high enough you will not be able to continue.
If your just going through the main story you will naturally be over leveled and likely only need to deal with gear score, one of the reasons is because each expansions leveling content ends at a multiple of 10.
ARR (which you are in) ends at LV50
HW starts at LV50 and ends at LV60
In between getting to level 50 and starting the HW content you have multiple patches of content you need to complete that were endgame when ARR first came out. If you just do it all on one one job you will over level by 1-3 levels by the time you reach the next expansions content, so if you also are leveling a separate class on the side that extra XP from the additional content and be put to better use.

SCH and SMN share levels so you already get a free ride to a DPS. But you can level multiple chars during the MSQ, I think I leveled 2-3 with no problems keeping up

Pick one and spend 20 minutes on the wolves' den striking dummy. You want to do the most amount of burst damage in the least amount of time. Always Be Casting doesn't apply in pvp, and neither does clipping.
As for game sense, never go into a pack alone. Attack squishy ranged jobs if they get too close because they have far less survivability, and ignore tanks for the opposite reason unless they're the only ones near. If you are outnumbered by 2, fall back and regroup rather than feed.
Any tips for FL as a BLM? I find it really annoying trying to play as that. It either feels like I'm dicking around not doing anything and then if I do decide to do something I get squished.
I also don't know how useful fire DoTs are in that mode either.
In a nutshell, abuse the frick out of manip's swiftcast, only target friends with it. Use the thunder shield pre-emptively. When you have LB, use ice to slow down people who are retreating. It's usually not as good to go for deep freeze as it is to use heavy multiple times. Sleep is best used to bait out purify.
In general, stay with the group, don't sit on LB, use sleep on cd, focus on staying alive.
I like AST in PvP a lot since Double Casted Aspected Benefic is great for getting people out of a bad spot, while Double Casted Gravity + Macrocosmos dishes out a surprising about of burst damage. It feels very flexible, but the nature of the LB makes it somewhat more team dependant.

Is the new expansion that was announced coming out this year? When I stopped playing I was finishing 5.3 and I want to play again once Endwalker becomes part of the base game.
I wasn't watching keynotes or seeing any details to know if that's confirmed, but I imagine it has to be. The base PS4 still struggles with XIV in some shit, especially intense / crowded stuff, and they acknowledged last year that they have to build this all with that limitation and older, weaker PCs in mind.
The in need stuff doesn't update in real-time, instead operating on ticks. It happens a lot I've noticed, people que for the in-demand role and basically a few seconds after it's not actually the most in-demand role again, but the system hasn't updated yet

The premades don’t stack DRK, it’s probably just being picked by people who want to win because it’s insanely cheese. Premades usually do like DRK/DRG/+1 can literally be anything semi AOE. Sometimes BRD to put wardens on the DRK, a lot of times AST for burst, or sch for dots and to buff the DRG damage
Third is usually AST for 10% dmg and AST does insane aoe itself, but GNB is pretty popular too. One of the sweatiest premade losers runs that version.
FL DRK is just fun tho

The "reason" is its lack of inherent team utility, but as a selfish DPS cloaked in blue, its kill power is cartoonishly underestimated.
I find it suspiciously easy to confirm kills that would slip out of a DPS's hands thanks to Double Down and Continuation attacks playing as GNB, so many chain attacks. And on top of that you can be a shittier PLD in a pinch, if the other team has a tank
It's beautiful. The sheer teamkill capacity of Terminal Trigger+Double Down is also just too delicious to pass up in any teamfight. It's also bizarrely easy to force duels in your favor with Tank or Healer stance constantly feeding you free heals/shields when the opponent is dumping their strongest moves into you.

This alliance raid spends too much time showing you mechanics before mixing things up that all the bosses die before anything interesting actually happens. If it weren't for Rhalgr's fist arena providing something novel Algaia would already be Void Arc tier on the snoozefest scale.
Void Ark has more mandatory mechanics that have to be respected, as ignoring them will kill you outright or put paralyze on you. iriminsul can still wipe groups.

the easy answer is RNG, but people don't like that. especially if positionals are getting removed. maybe a class that focuses on a damage over time ability that they maintain and empower over the fight? course that doesn't give big capital numbers. something involving switching weapons wouldn't really work because of the armory system. moving to ranged for a certain attack would just be positionals again

Playstyle wise, all I can think of is something with a changing rotation, like BRD songs or SMN pets, where what you got out adjusts your flow of inputs. No one would play it though.

You can't be cheeky in early dungeons since you don't have your tools. It's just that you have so much mitigation and self healing at high levels that a healer just becomes a suggestion at level cap dungeons. Doubly so if you're playing Warrior since Bloodwhetting may as well be Hallowed Ground with a 25s cooldown in that environment.

Using TBN on cooldown on trash instead of blowing all your MP on Flood of Shadow.
Combining TBN with other mitigation so you're not instantly vaporizing once the shield is broken.
Remember Arm's Length exists and applies Slow to whatever hits you.
Use Abyssal Drain for the healing instead of Carve and Spit for the MP.
Dark Mind's kinda eh in dungeons since most autos are physical but you can get some good mileage out of it in some dungeons.

True, yesterday I was doing dungeon roulette for level 90, I'm on heal and there's a warrior, he says "NO HEAL ME PLEASE" so I comply, proceeds to die every other pull lol. I can't provide any recent feedback about DRKs since I never see them in dungeons any more for some reason.

It's squishy because for some reason dungeon mobs are a thousand times more deadly than boss attacks unless you frick up mechanics, and yet the DRK feels like it was designed for bosses rather than dungeons.

I think WAR actually has more in common with Guts apart from the giant 2H sword thing, DRK is the magic/anti-magic and also super edgy tank. Its still more than playable in dungeon as you've probably discovered, but if your healer is sleeping on the job you will suffer more and have less recovery tools than the other tanks later on.
Yeah, honestly I'm just doing the MSQ for the first time and I am more than hyped to finish Heavensward now. Saw that Stormblood's msq included a dungeon which dropped the Ravel Keeper axe and it is honestly the most perfect axe I've seen for a Roe, so I aim to get it.

Warrior becomes near-unkillable at level 52 and gets even more sustain as it levels, PLD and GNB gain a lot of sustain at 83, DRK gets a powerful self-shield at 70 but it doesn't scale well into newer dungeon stuff so it ends up being the squishy dungeon tank. It varies a lot by dungeon too though, some dungeons are more difficult than others.
I will comm you if you're not a moron who is having troubles with staying alive and can do walk to wall pulls.
That being said I do get Comms as a healer all the time, probably because I play a female midlander.

I just started a few days ago on the trial. Is WHM the "easiest" healer? I don't feel like juggling a bunch of skills and shit for "optimizing" damage/healing. I already did that shit years ago when I used to raid hardcore in wow when i was a moron into progression raiding, so now i just want to support while being casual.

Was thinking of getting into the game myself, by that description, is there such thing as a "good" WHM? It sounds like WHM is the worst of all the healers.
You'll only see way more dogshit WHMs since it's the most popular healer by an order of magnitude. By "least interaction" I mean it provides the least mitigation and shielding (and on long cooldowns) so it never has to think about meaningfully preventing damage and only provides high, sustained pure healing throughput that ends up being a pretty nebulous asset because of the way the game is designed.
XIV strongly favours barrier healers once you get out of ARR, but your DF heroes will love to tell you that one time they totally saved the alliance raid with their sick heals or some shit.
If I want to be a more impactful Healer as I get later into the game, it sounds like it would be a better idea to pick Scholar or Sage? I guess in my case, since I'm just going in the trial, it sounds like Scholar would be my only option.
Just try them all out to find something that fits you. It's not like you are forced to play only one healer.
Every healer is viable at end game, I'm just very biased about WHMs. Barrier healers are just better equipped at the high end since mitigation is a way more important asset you can bring to the table than "tops people up real good".
WHM has OP aoe stun and morons don't fricking use it. Otherwise it's really hard to frick something up, but people still manage to do it. But hey people fail solo duties all the time nothing surprises me anymore.

Salvaged accessories are the most consistent thing. You can also try aiming for new items introduced in patches since they'll command a high price when they're new (I made 35m off Deep Sea Marble and nowadays it's worthless), but sometimes you get fricked and it doesn't work out.

There's multiple salvaged routes (but they're all on the same map - Deep-Sea Site) and I hit 5 zones (MJORZ) since it means I only need to check the subs every two days

Either sell it to the Chinese or just be in the right place at the right time. A friend or acquaintance might be willing to spend significantly more buying from someone they know rather than dealing with a 3rd party website.

Additionally, roll for everything in the most recent dungeon, desynth all of it, and sell any clear demimateria to doman enclave.

Ocean Fishing is good for gathering scrips too, there's custom deliveries for both crafting and gathering but they're weekly locked. Besides that, yeah.

the scaling sidequests in shadowbringers and endwalker start giving out enough exp that you can level a second job alongside a main that soaks up all the msq rewards and nearly max the expansion cap from doing those alone
but prior to that yeah their exp is dogshit
you should only do them if you're in the mood to read some extra lore, the exp is pitiful even when compared to just doing fate grind
yellow quests without a plus are almost never worth doing unless you want the extra lore.
Only the sidequests that have the little picture when you're accepting them are ever worth doing. Those can have good stories, the rest are completely unnecessary

You get so much exp you don't really need to bother unless you want to minimax. Just change your job if you overleveled MSQ.
MSQ will overlevel you, that much is certain. Doubly so if you started on a preferred world with the exp boost.

Basically MSQ gives out tons of experience so you most guaranteed will overlevel it. Let's just say, for example your level is 55 and MSQ is 50. You will barely get any experience, it's better to switch to another job that is 50.

You can, but it's not essential. There are tons of ways to level jobs efficiently that don't involve juggling jobs for MSQ, especially if you have a 'main job' for your character you'd like to see in cutscenes.
XP does not carry over between jobs, so your current job is at 21 and so the XP you get from it is negligible.
By unlocking a second class (which you will need to start back at level 1) and leveling that class up to 15 you can put that XP to grater use.
Then as you go through the game doing stuff you just switch between the classes and if you keep them even all the XP from the Main story and some of the side quests should keep them even and give you the most bang for your buck.

SCH and SMN share levels so you already get a free ride to a DPS. But you can level multiple chars during the MSQ, I think I leveled 2-3 with no problems keeping up
SCH and SMN are a very interesting case since you can just queue as a healer and get free exp for your SMN.
So yea it's better to pick up like a random DPS that you might enjoy.

You already got most of the answers but here's small advice. DPS jobs are harder to level in roulettes due to the fact that everyone wants to play them. Better to get free exp for damage dealers and then level healers and tanks in roulettes.
Overlevel as in you will always be a higher level than the story quests, which means no grinding required. It's a good thing if you just wanna steamroll the story and then do side stuff with other jobs.
All jobs are all available on one character but must be unlocked and leveled separatel, you can switch between them by equipping the weapon for that class. (barring Summoner and Scholar which share a level).
At certain parts in the main story you will reach points where unless your level is high enough and your gear score (aggregate level of all your equipped gear) is high enough you will not be able to continue.
If your just going through the main story you will naturally be over leveled and likely only need to deal with gear score, one of the reasons is because each expansions leveling content ends at a multiple of 10.
ARR (which you are in) ends at LV50
HW starts at LV50 and ends at LV60
In between getting to level 50 and starting the HW content you have multiple patches of content you need to complete that were endgame when ARR first came out. If you just do it all on one one job you will over level by 1-3 levels by the time you reach the next expansions content, so if you also are leveling a separate class on the side that extra XP from the additional content and be put to better use.
Nothing in this game will ever top the Alexander raids so I have no reason to return after completing all of them

Pick one and spend 20 minutes on the wolves' den striking dummy. You want to do the most amount of burst damage in the least amount of time. Always Be Casting doesn't apply in pvp, and neither does clipping.
As for game sense, never go into a pack alone. Attack squishy ranged jobs if they get too close because they have far less survivability, and ignore tanks for the opposite reason unless they're the only ones near. If you are outnumbered by 2, fall back and regroup rather than feed.
Any tips for FL as a BLM? I find it really annoying trying to play as that. It either feels like I'm dicking around not doing anything and then if I do decide to do something I get squished.
I also don't know how useful fire DoTs are in that mode either.
In a nutshell, abuse the frick out of manip's swiftcast, only target friends with it. Use the thunder shield pre-emptively. When you have LB, use ice to slow down people who are retreating. It's usually not as good to go for deep freeze as it is to use heavy multiple times. Sleep is best used to bait out purify.
In general, stay with the group, don't sit on LB, use sleep on cd, focus on staying alive.
Easiest job to understand is AST because it's very similar to PvE. Play cards, heal team, damage enemy, use divination (LB).
I like AST in PvP a lot since Double Casted Aspected Benefic is great for getting people out of a bad spot, while Double Casted Gravity + Macrocosmos dishes out a surprising about of burst damage. It feels very flexible, but the nature of the LB makes it somewhat more team dependant.
You may had a point a year ago but now every class only has like 5 unique buttons with mostly very basic functions and an ultimate.

I wasn't watching keynotes or seeing any details to know if that's confirmed, but I imagine it has to be. The base PS4 still struggles with XIV in some shit, especially intense / crowded stuff, and they acknowledged last year that they have to build this all with that limitation and older, weaker PCs in mind.

The in need stuff doesn't update in real-time, instead operating on ticks. It happens a lot I've noticed, people que for the in-demand role and basically a few seconds after it's not actually the most in-demand role again, but the system hasn't updated yet
