The hat problem is a symptom of a much larger problem and I really do hope they have taken the time and effort to fix it in the 7.0 technical updates, because it's the only way to future proof the game for the next decade, unless they want to remove half the accessory slots by 8.0/9.0 the same way they removed belts.
If they find a way to economically fix/limit the impact of character data integer on the server infrastructure it would open up so many possibilities. New options for existing races, more inventory slots, more glamour slots/plates, toggles for capes and effects like /visor etc.

Of course I would, but the fact that you're only interacting with other people for maybe 10% of the MSQ makes it, inherently, a terrible MMO. You play this game for the story first and foremost.
here's a hot take. some features of mmos are bad. and if you have to get rid of some aspects to get rid of them, thats fine. there is literally nothing stopping you from hopping around with your buddy in the overworld. now you'll complain about solo instances, which are mechanically there as pulse checks to ensure you have a minimal understanding of the game. you can't join him in the hall of the novice either
Listen, dude. FFXIV is my favorite MMO. I love all of those aspects of it. I don't mind doing solo stuff. But more than half the time, it's missing the entire point of the genre. If I want to pick up a game with a buddy to hang out with them and shoot the shit, FFXIV is not that game. You can pick up some WoW private server and level from 1 to max entirely grouped up and hanging out. You can grind, quest, and boss 90% of the content together in OSRS from the moment you land in Lumbridge. One day, I want to try FFXI, because I imagine it's the same way.
Constant solo content isn't a bad thing on its own, it's just a bad thing for the general purpose of MMOs.
FFXI is more of a solo experience than FFXIV is. everyone knows that XIV is a narrative driven game. and yet you still are here claiming you don't like that its in an mmo.

Because the combat is not fun on a fundamental level. Having to learn x new shitty DDR steps for each encounter works for a while but after some time the fatigue sets in a lot. I was okay raiding till ShB when I completely lost any interest in it. The class you play matters 0 all that matters is that you remember how to find the safe spot. It is genuinely shitty design and hammering this concept even harder into the game with the 2 minute meta is even worse. So it is no wonder people would rather cheat and have Splatoon/Cactbot solve the encounter for you. That is nothing to say about shit like NoClippy or XIVAlex which should be already baked into the game but since its a non issue for Japanese players everyone else will need to make do.

That didn’t really bother me, it was the “interrupting what I’m doing” to do the run part. I had all the QoL stuff like explorer ring 3, farming guild tp, etc so it was fast. And even if I only did it once a day I didn’t want to do dailies. Like for example if want to spend 9 hours in MM I don’t want to feel like I’m missing out on herb exp.
then don't do the herb runs, maybe do 2 a day every time u log in n log out, you should get 70 herb done in couple of months, max miscellania on herbs or do herbiboar, i cant advocate for either method since i personally enjoy herb runs and usually do at least 3 a day.
my point is if I'm playing doom or hogwarts legacy or some other shit I don't want to spend 20% attention span on OS

Most of the difficulty comes from the DDR mechanics; dos/tanking/healing is a mini game compared to memorizing the dance. Usually this means all roles are roughly the same, except in content such as Golbez in which the healers have to lead the dance party.

the only thing dps needs to care about is their dps rotation & the universal encounter mechanics. That's objectively the easiest out of everyone
If your tank is wall to wall pulling when able, yes it can be harder because you have to be watching the tank and also keeping an eye on if the dps are getting clipped by aoes.

You can literally just dump every 30-45-60s every pull, and half your 90-120s on two packs and it's gonna work out effortlessly. Ontop of that, you can always throw a single regen out for good measure. Dungeon healing is a complete non-issue.

Tanks have their main job, aggro management, piss ass easy now with tank stance being easy to toss on and off while increasing aggro by like 5000%, so they can literally stop pressing buttons for mechanics safely
Healers have like 10 fricking ogcd and zero cast time heals so they barely have to pay attention.
Meanwhile, dps need to keep up their dps while also paying attention to those mechanics and stuff like blm and melee especially have to be on point.
but dps rotation is all muscle memory
only blm gets to complain because their rotation isn't static and they need to optimize positioning in the fight

We're literally second class citizens for not having DPS. Even if you want to play healer, for anything that dosn't force healers or isn't prog content you get told to swap to a dps class. I've played tons of MMOs and healers are usually at least respected but this game's playerbase fricking hates healers for some reason.
