YAKUZA 5 is the best game of the past 30 years and SEGA's magnum opus. It's everything RGG tried to achieve with the franchise and the pinnacle of the series. Every game before or after YAKUZA 5 is a massive downgrade compared to it.

Filler game
How so? It further developers the stories of 4 characters while introducing a new one too
>Fulfiller of Dreams
>Filler game
YUME
>filler
>more content than any other Yakuza game
Filler implies no importance to the greater story arc of the universe
Nothing to do with gameplay
hownew
>people that have no idea what fillers are
More like filter game
Yakuza 5's story is the entire reason Yakuza 6 and Yakuza 7 happen
Literal movie games with shit gameplay
moron post with AI formatting.
please stop trolling
it's ok when japan does it
How can one man be so wrong? Even the PSP games are better.
Yakuza 5 is one of the worst Yakuza.
>the most expansive YAKUZA game
>most content
>most characters
>most minigames
>5 freely explorable cities
>3 of which completely new cities only available in YAKUZA 5
>???
>somehow people get filtered by this
>he thinks more quantity means better quality
Based moron
So you prefer playing Kamurocho in every game? Yakuza 5 actually did new things, came up with new minigames, new cities and activities. That's proof morons like you only want the same content assets reused repeatedly forever.
What's the point of having more cities if they're ugly and uninteresting? What's the point of having more characters if they're worse than previous characters and a chore to fight as (looking at you, baseball homosexual)? What's the point of having more silly minigames that add nothing to the main part of the game, which is the story and the world? Just pressing key prompts in different ways?
More is not better. 5 good minigames are better than 10 shit minigames. 1 good character is better than 5 half-assed nobodies. 1 good city is better than 5 empty neighborhoods. And don't get me started on the story, the worst in the entire series which is quite remarkable.
How the frick is Shinada worse than other characters?
Boring dude based on lame jokes, terrible fighting style if it can be called that, and Tanimura was slightly better so it was a direct downgrade. Just slightly but still.
it's like you dont even have a soul man
One of us!
Really no reason for him to be in the game beyond "LOL DAIGO CLASSMATE LOL."
Only reason he's there is for a "5" because they couldn't give Haruka and Akiyama separate chapters.
>Beautiful ice town
>Nothing to do
WAOW IM SO GLAD THEY ADDED THIS ENTIRE FRICKING CITY WHERE NOTHING IS GOING ON!
It's like that but with 5 cities. Amazing.
Wrong though
>pic
homie how?
You got a problem, ojisan?
You are literally describing how you want every future Yakuza/Like a Dragon/Judgment game to be set in Kamurocho and feature only the same reused shogi, poker, mahjong games and only feature the same old characters wtf my dude. Yakuza 5 was ambitious.
If you give Kamurocho more buildings to enter, more minigames, and more quality of life, yeah I'll take that over whatever cardboard cutout city with 4-5 stores I can enter
So you want more buildings, more minigames? YAKUZA 5 LITERALLY GAVE YOU THAT
>but noooo i didn't mean it like that, uhhhh its bad because i don't like the number 5 in the title errrrr
>Ruins the baseball minigame
When did I say that? I'm saying quality > quantity, not that I want Kamurocho back or shogi back. I don't care if they go to Kamurocho, Yokohama or wherever. Yakuza 5 went for sheer quantity, and it was a disjointed mess from start to finish.
What's people's problem with Shinada's gameplay? I liked that at least he was fast, unlike the boring slow saejima "charged" attackes that the AI can easily block/dodge. Only mistake was how the entire push about him being very good with weapons ended up underwhelming.
My main issue with him and his entire story arc is that I simply do not give a shit about baseball in the slightest, so all the stuff about game rigging and how it was carried out just flew completely over my head.
yeah I did not relate to that part either. But him being a woman chaser and general loser thrown in the middle of the conspiracy was fun to see.
It's also just really frickin stupid. Game rigging would fall on the coaches referees and the entire team, it COULDNT just fall on Shinada. That and this weird youthful naivety that sports are fricking real and not fixed outright to make a more exciting season is cringe and shows the writers are out of their depth
>No bro, you don't get how much Japanese people love baseball
I grew up in a baseball house. I get it, and I promise you almost every aspect of baseball outside of whether or not the player makes a hit is altered, cheated, or arranged
Akiyama is voiced but very sparingly. You can tell they gave him as few voiced lines as they possibly could while keeping him involved in the story.
Saejima is overrated. His regular fricking combo will kill everyone, but shinada is a miserable experience if you aren't going out of your way to get him items through side stories and shops and shit leaving him feeling fricking awful
Because other Yakuza games show that less content means higher quality? homie, Y5 literally has the same quality as every other game, just far more variety and stuff to do. Every Yakuza feels like the tired old return to Kamurocho whereas Y5 feels like an expansive adventure across multiple cities
They hated him for speaking the truth
shinada's version of the baseball minigame is the only good one
>>the most expansive YAKUZA game
Not even. That's 7.
>most content
Most bloat
>>most characters
Worst characters too
>most minigames
Ok
>5 freely explorable cities
3 of which are absolute dog shit and throw away crap nobody remembers
>3 of which completely new cities only available in YAKUZA 5
See above.
You forgot
>terrible writing that takes rubber bullets and fills and entire game with nonsensical shit twists
>moronic retcons every step along the way
>Devs having no clue what to do with Taiga they must retcon his entire arc in 4 to put him in the exact same position he was in 4, having players do the exact same things again
>moronic soap opera who dunnit with forced drama due to SURPRISE connection to majima
>moronic ending that undoes the entire game
>theme about DREAMS that the game tells you every two seconds about, without actually building a proper narrative around it yet constantly telling about DREAMS because we all have DREAMS
>complete asspull final boss
And most importantly
>only reason people like it is because they meme sad baseball man andnm because harukas chapter, which is complete filler, carries the entire game
I always laugh at people defending 3 but people defending 5 need to be sectioned.
genuinely filtered
>7
>expansive
kek it's like 90% Ijincho with a tiny bit of Kamurocho and an entirely lifeless Sotenbori with nothing to do except the arena. Try trolling harder next time.
how can one man be so correct
/v/'s official YAKUZA ranking is still on-going until Ishin's release. Currently Y5 is still in the lead.
https://strawpoll.com/polls/1MnwvelW0y7/
This is a rigged poll btw
This poll has been posted in nearly every Yakuza thread since December and people have been voting for weeks, don't comment if you're new
Nah it's definitely rigged. I posted it on reddit and twitter before the influx of Yakuza 5 votes.
>I posted it on reddit and twitter
Are you moronic? We created this poll to be Ganker's opinion. And you're saying that YOU posted it elsewhere and then suddenly it got rigged? So YOU rigged it by bringing it to other communities?
Yes.
How does this disprove that Yakuza 5 is the most popular and best game? It's still people who voted on it, just other platforms.
It proves that 5gays are redditors
>So YOU were the one who rigged the votes?
>Yes.
LMAO, Yakuza 0 was reading by a landslide in the first few weeks and now Y5 suddenly has double its votes?
It couldn't be any more obvious
Disingenuous homosexual
What's the problem? 0 and 5 are both top tier. If it really is rigged like you say it has to be the "0gay" poster.
Yakuza 5 is the best Yakuza game solely because of the Taxi minigame.
Very based. I want RGG to make a spin-off centered around an old geezer taxicab driver who gets involved in some kind of plot where he is forced to drive criminals around. The gameplay would consist of learning the streets and your way around the city, driving, traffic lights, speed limit etc as well as picking dialogue during conversations. You can customize your taxi with decals and lights and there would be fictional radio stations too. You can also do side missions where try to hire other people to join your taxicab company and train them and send them out on missions. There could also be a dating system where you pick up ladies and convince them to do sexual favors for you in exchange for free rides or something.
and a system where you kidnap people. basically they get in the car expecting you to take them home, but you take them to a secret hideout instead where you can then choose what to do with them, for example, apply torture or do lewd things to them, or steal their money and beat them to death etc. There are a lot of possibilities for a crime taxi drama spin-off
moron
Pretty sure there's a series of games that do that, they're called Grand Theft Auto. They're quite popular in fact, you should try them.
Honestly 3, 4, 5 and 6 feel like they were a mistake and they didn't know how to wrap it up.
They really should have abandoned Kiryu after 2. His story was done, but they were too pussy to abandon a fan favorite character back and he is way too powerful past 2 to be interesting or complex. Now they are again bringing him back.
Wasn't 4 supposed to do that? Just replace Kiryu with Akiyama. It's sad Akiyama is just a non playable character now.
Let Akiyama rest on his laurels, he's one of my favorite characters but he doesn't need to be doing a million errands constantly.
Akiyama's VA is too expensive for him to be the lead.
After playing Lost Judgment it's real fricking hard to go back to older titles in terms of gameplay. It's the best one in that regards, no contest.
Sadly it has the worst story out of all yakuza games
4 is better. 5 is packed to the brim with plotholes and video game contrivances
>MY ANIKI IS DEAD AND I WILL FIGHT TIL MY LAST BREATH
>I KILLED HIM
>hey Kiryu
>Hi saejima
>We need to fight to the death because the mastermind is expecting it....
>Why?
>Dunno
>I'm not going to shoot haruka
>I know, but I'm still going to kick your ass
>Oh hey shinada, did I ever tell you I've been your number 1 fan since day 1
>Hey Kiryu, I know you're bleeding to death but if I kill you now I will be the strongest!
>I'm opening an office in sotenbori because the story requires it!!
The worst for me is that there's basically very little story or actual progression that's spread way too thin throughout the game. You end up with a game where barely anything happens and when it happens you have no explanations why even though it's been hours since the last development.
Drive the taxi, wagie!
>is the only one with a comfy jazzy ost
They need to go back to it
Yakuza 5 deniers can eat shit with a fork.
So now reviews matter?
So now your opinion matters? Of all people on the planet, it's you we flog to for opinions?
Why did the mastermind expect Kiryu and saejima to do a rooftop fight to the death, there is no set up for this at all. The mastermind has done nothing to give anyone the impression that Kiryu and saejima should be mad at eachother let alone fight to the death in a rooftop battle
Yakuza 5 is a bloated mess, the pacng is also pretty bad.
>backseats akiyama for a 3 song DDR game
About to open these bad boys, what am I in for?
A game where everyone knows they're in a poorly written movie and just do things because it's what's required for the next scene to happen
>Sega moved Haruka a bit higher for the western cover so we can see her chest
B-based?
On PS3 they RELEASED Yakuza 5 3 years after its initial 2012 Japan RELEASE. But it was without disc. It was only on the PS3 PSN Store. You can still buy it there today, as Sony has decided not TO close it down yet. But then the Remaster of Yakuza 5 came out in 2020 and it CONTAINED a physical disc box case without disc, so just the box case, for the PS3, for those who want to complete their complete collection of the series, since they only owned it digitally on PS3, and would have an empty spot where Yakuza 5 is supposed to BE between Yakuza 4 and Yakuza 6, or between Yakuza 4 and Yakuza 0 if you go by release order, so now people can have the full collection lined UP in the shelf, but there is no disc.
Yakuza 6 was definitely a downgrade
>Basically retells 3 but with a baby
>SILKY SMOOTH 17FPS
some of the Yakuzas are currently in a PSN sale, is Yakuza Kiwami ok to start off with?
No. Kiwami is a sequel to 0
>Yakuza 0
shit sux
Either start with OG 1 and play release order or start with 0 and play chronological order.
Only women play this kdrama soap opera game
the other day we had a woman come in here who chatted with us for a while and posted her hand
>Woman
That is a troony hand
I hate trannies as much as the next guy but that’s clearly a woman’s hand. Trans derangement has gotten so out of hand (get it?) on this board I wouldn’t be surprised if someone posted a video of a woman giving birth and anons would still unironically claim it’s not a real woman.
>I hate trannies as much as the next guy
>But
troonylover
It’s also clearly not a troony because when asked to spread her legs she refused whereas all trannies are sexual deviants always willing to show off their disgusting bodies for attention and because it gets them off.
They didn't want you to see their axe wound. It's a troony
Wrong, trannies love shoving their neoveganas in other people’s faces unless they’re trying to catfish men on tindr.
also there was no real reason to lie about it, it was just a fun convo about yakuza (and it was a better thread than this one)
Yeah she probably wouldn't have posted it in this thread. I was there and it was chill.
ywnbaw
What do the red lines mean next to posts? Like two posts have a red line and one has these interrupted lines.
Get Gankerx, it's good for you
ok, but answer the question
Dotted red line is your own posts. Solid red line is people replying to you.
>can't compare lengths of forefinger and ringfinger
Not a woman
That's me.
That is bullshit.
Your opinion on the two Judgment titles, honey?
Haven't played them yet. Want to emulate Dead Souls first and haven't touched 7 yet.
At least you respond to "honey," my wife doesn't
I dislike pet names but didn't want to be a b***h about it with my jap soap opera frens.
Oh well okay, excuse me then.
No worries.
On a scale of 1 to 10, rate the attractiveness levels of Kiryu, Akiyama, Saejima, Tanimura, Shinada, Ichiban, Yagami, Haruka and Majima.
How would you feel if they brought Tanimura back for Judgment 3?
Very good. I mean they already have snake style.
I actually think there’s a decent chance he shows up again considering they replaced him with another actor for the remaster.
Y5 probably has my fave minigame in the comedy routine. Why'd they never bring it back and expand upon it?
I don't speak Japanese so I fail at this constantly because I can't get the timing down
They fixed it in the remaster by adding a timer
>strong topless men
>with hearts of gold
Everyone knows Yakuza has a huge female playerbase.
Why no western release still?
Just call it "Like a Black Panther" and Kiwami that shit please
Probably not enough interest to justify the investment of paying the two devs in charge of the port and a translator 20 bucks
Just get the fan patches and emulate it, bro
>someone posts a picture of a hand
>thread overrun by virgins who deny women play games
my favorite character in yakuza is kazuma kiryu
Oh yeah, tell me about Kazuma Kiryu, what do you like most about Kazuma Kiryu?
my favorite character in yakuza is judgement kazzy-kun
You just know this little minx will pop up in Like a Dragon 8.
Why does the hair look so shitty in Kiwami 2? Did they fix it in the other Dragon Engine games?
>Hair
Hair is the least of their problems, why does Kiryu have dog eyes
I got used to weird Kiryu, it just looks like everyone’s hair is fricking 240p or something.
2018 was insane.
But this year will be great too, next month Ishin and when exactly can we expect LADGTMWEHN? Maybe in time for christmas?
>LADGTMWEHN?
Do not ever phrase it like that ever again, just say Gaiden.
Gaiden = side story
There is a colon after "Like a Dragon Gaiden" because that is the title of the subseries of games. The first of which will be The Man Who Erased His Name. So it's LADG:TMWEHN.
Is it confirmed that there will be more gaiden games? If so I can hope for Saejima, I think DE would do his combat wonders.
Wait is the Kiryu on 6 and K2's covers literally copy/pasted?
I mean, kiryu in y6 is presumably in his mid 50s yet looks like someone in his 30's
Good genes + Japanese innate youthfulness + athletic + diet of healthy Japanese good
>iet of healthy Japanese
Not during my playthroughs. The man eats like a tank to farm those stat points
I started yakuza 0 on steamdeck, erything was fine until the cutscene before the first boss (that old yakuza boxer), then the game crashed. Did the whole thing again, this time skipped the cutscene, defeated the boss and the game crashed again during the next cutscene. Is it because I have fullscreen in the settings, or maybe because I capped the settings at 5 watts? Everyone says the game plays great on steamdeck, so I don't know what I'm doing wrong, especially since the actual game runs fine (yes, even at 5 watts), only cutscenes make it crash.
>LAD8
>ppl wonder who is in Kiryu's party
>has more soul than Ichiban ever will in your path
>looks older than Ichiban ever will in your path
>LAD Ishin: Feb 2023
>LAD Gaiden: Summer 2023
>LAD 8: 2024
>Unannounced new IP
They might want to think about doing less projects so they can focus strong on one.
They don’t need much time to develop a Yakuzer game. They’ve pretty much got this shit down to a science at this point.
play order:
>Yakuza Like a Dragon > Yakuza 0 > Lost Judgment > Yakuza 1 > Yakuza 2 > Yakuza 3 > Judgment > Yakuza Dead Souls > Yakuza 4 > Like a Dragon Ishin > Yakuza 5 > Like a Dragon Gaiden The Man Who Erased His Name > Fist of the North Star Lost Paradise > Yakuza Kiwami > Yakuza Kiwami 2 > Yakuza 6 The Song of Life
That way you have the best story experience.
5 is pretty fricking bad
Not falling for this. I played 3 and 4, they were absolutely fricking awful. 5 looks like more of the same shit.
5 is legitimately better than those two.
I have a question about Lost Judgment. I am trying to understand the timing of countering with snake but it doesn't seem to work my way. It doesn't seem to go the same way as bamham.
If you mean the block counter - it's a very generous with timing. Just block when you see an enemy attacking and it should proc. If you mean the disarm for weapons - I don't trust the circle at all and wait for the noise it plays to reach it's peak.
I had more fun with Yakuza 4 (Despite the police kid arc was fricking shit) than with Yakuza 5 to be honest.
Same. I felt Yakuza 4 had less annoying parts. I get 5 was pretty ambitious and it has a frickton of content, but I honestly had more fun around kamurocho in 4 than some of the cities in 5 and while I understand some people like the minigames, I wasn't impressed by wiener racing and hunting and taxi driving wasn't my thing. Dancing was alright I guess.
Akiyama and Saejima were both Shinada-tier fun introductions. Saejima's character gets absolutely mangled by being connected to the Yasuko shit in the same game though. Yasuko's plot and resolution being so insanely bad has gotten covered up by rubber bullets
>Majima and Yasuko never met during 25 years despite the latter asking to meet Saejima every day
>or if they did, she somehow decided Katsuragi asking her to kill people is more trustworthy than her brother's best friend
I heard it Have Chinese NTR man.
6 does, yep
Does anyone know if the Fist of the North Star game did well? Wouldn't mind a sequel or another game in a existing series
We know it did well enough to get the "PlayStation Hits" label and re-release, so it hit some milestone.
>TRULY, THIS POWERFUL MAN WAS LIKE A DRAGON
How did they get away with this?
I tried to draw a map of kamurocho out of memory but I couldn't. I always frick up the southwest part
post it
I just deleted it. If I can't memorize it right then it's not worth it. I'll be honest, I played most yakuza games (only one left is 6 and I'm already at chapter 8) and somehow I still get lost in kamurocho sometimes.
As the straight men that we are, we can agree he is attractive, right?
I'm having more fun with Y6 than 5
>babysitter simulator for the japanese women fanbase
It's alright for what it is. Onomichi is cozy.
I prefer Onomichi with 3 useless stores that don't have the item I want than most cities in 5 to be quite dang honest
At least I can remember the name of this place better
>Onomichi is cozy
It is.
>want to find all the cats
>didn't bring the right cat food from Kamurocho so it takes twice as long to feed most of them
>can't go back (until you're almost at the end)
I kind of like it as a gameplay mechanic, you can't just go walk into a convenience store and load up on every health item at-will. The fact that most stores are closed at night, too.
Same, the fast paced brawler combat works well to break up a game where you're normally watching long cutscenes, and turning even random fights with goons into turn-based fights where you select attacks and watch just slows the game down even more.
I wonder if Yagami will ever get a unique city or just recycle Kiryu/Ichiban cities.
I can't express how angry I am that the Ichiban games are the main Yakuza titles and the Yagami games are the spin-offs. I hate this fricking turn-based RPG bullshit so much. The yakuza fricking disbanded, a professional detective tackling all manner of crime is a far more sensible direction to focus on from a storytelling perspective too.
What difference does it make which is "main" and which is "spin-off"? Either way, Judgment is better.
Lost Judgment has the best combat of the franchise and the first Judgment has a great story.
>What difference does it make which is "main" and which is "spin-off"?
Development priority and budget.
but both Judgments are pretty great?! The only issue I see is that Judgment reuses the available cities from the Yakuza/Like A Dragon games, but other than that... Lost Judgment added the entire high school campus so that was neat.
yeah the high school was almost the size of a small town
Wish they put Akiyama in Kiryu's party in Y8.
>Wish they put Akiyama in Kiryu's party in Y8.
Would've been fine with anyone, akiyama, saejima, daigo, anyone. But they had to fricking bring kiryu back.
>What difference does it make which is "main" and which is "spin-off"? Either way, Judgment is better.
Big one for me is that they seem to have this autistic refusal to allow any of the casts to mix, despite Judgement being set in the same locations. Yagami is a far better-written MC than Ichiban, but because of the above we aren't (and probably won't) see him interact with any of the established cast of the main series. The Tojo clan disbanded and we only get vague references to that in the detective mystery game, whereas the game about the "haha it's just like Dragon Quest" autist will have all of the story progression.
>autistic refusal to allow any of the casts to mix, despite Judgement being set in the same locations.
There was this cameo. I believe it when they said they didn't want the old cast to overshadow the new one. Now that these characters are established and the series is popular, I don't think there will be that reluctance anymore.
>The Y7 chink
Y7 newcomers need not apply. Adachi is the only good one
Too bad nobody gives a frick what you think and we're getting more 'newcomers', eh?
Y8 is already dialing Ichi back to include more Kiryu. Thank frick because I think everyone's gotten enough ching Chong and NOT JOONGIHAN
Playing as Kaito>>>>>>
.
Sorry.
Is it worth buying judgement and lost judgement since denuvo is a thing?
They're better than half of the Yakuza games, so yes.
Why the frick did haruka never bother to learn self defense?
God i hate what they did with her
OJISAN!!!!!!!!!!!!
N-NANI!!?
For a series that is so afraid to bring back former protagonists, it sure isn't afraid to drag Kiryu back every damn game
Why do people like Akiyama so much? He was an alright character but nothing that special.
He's Spike Spiegel and everyone loves him.
His indomitable will
His cool outfit
His relaxed/comical demeanor
His singing voice
He was very charming and fun also Y4 was my first Yakuza game back in the day, so he was actually my first Yakuza MC.
>Y6
>[no voice]HEY KIRYU I LIVE IN THE SEWERS NOW GOOD TO SEE YOU
>[voiced] Kiryu you can't take that baby, okay sorry I gotta go this is all the budget they ha-
I get that he's the most expensive voice in Japan and their rules about repeat appearances but it's still not fair. Nick Ogata is fricking gay and his function in Y7 makes no fricking sense
Is he? Would explain a lot.
Wait what? Was he really not voiced in Y6? He was even voiced in Dead Souls
I'm almost at the end of the series, doing the last chapter of 6 now. Will take a break as I refuse to buy 7 as long as it has Denuvo.
On that note 6 is definitely one of the worse ones in the series. The story is moronic, even for yakuza standards. Why couldn't they just end it nicely at the shipyard after the hirose fight and secret reveal?
I know yakuza are budget games so why do they feel the need to hire expensive actors/VA's?
to sell games anon
did anyone famous got in yakuza 1? I know they hired top tier dub actors for 1 for NA
Pretty sure he means jap voices
Kiryu slapping Haruka should have become a running joke throughout the series. Why did he stop? She kept acting dumb.
Saejima should have done it.
he slapped her someplace different
With his frickin mushroom tip
OJISAN!!!
UUUUUOOOOOOHHHHH
So, how did haruka get knocked up exactly?
It's quite literally explained in 6, numbnuts.
Saejima slipped one in. He even cut his hair to her liking which should have clued you in. Yuta is a red herring.
NODIMPORTANT saejima was always better
Met a nice Chinese boy. I forget if the triad puppeteered it.
They did not. "It just kinda happened"
Life... found a way.
Haruka was an inside job.
Kiryu gitano, senores.
HOLD THE FRICKING PHONE!
HARUKA HAD SEX?
Are you playing Yakuza 5 with an AMD GPU and CPU, the way it's meant to be played Ganker?
>AMD CPU
>Nvidia GPU
Just werks
The last good AMD GPU was the RX 380 so no.
Can't wait to play these games on PlayStation 5 via PS Plus Premium. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate takes the games away after a few months or years.
>Yakuza games are on sale almost every month on PSN
>people b***h about pc specs and spyware
PlayStation just cannot stop winning
Consoles have spyware built in already
What would you be doing on a playstation that you dont want sony to know?
Apparently kids watch tons of porn on their console browsers. Enough for pornhub to rank their favorite categories
I'd prefer sony not know I exist at all.
Oh wow, having all these side by side I never realized how fricking ugly Yakuza 3 Kiryu looks.
Y5 is hands down Kiryu best look across the franchise.
Kiryu and Saejima in 4-5 looks like they're about to cry
Games are in Game Pass on PC and Xbox.
>like a dragon looks fun
>give it a go
>it's not fun at all
>realize it's a jrpg
>uninstall
>like a dragon looks fun
>give it a go
>it's really fun
>beat the game and have a blast
Aren’t the normal Yakuza games already like JRPGs?
All but LaD are action RPGs with beat-em-up combat.
RGG7 is the best RGG since 2. Cope.

This?
>Rina
The one with numbers
here come the worst fricking minigame of all time
I actually really enjoyed it once I knew all I had to do was get one single block inside their goal.
If I had tried to do it the way the game explained it I would've an hero'd
I found the bikes to be WAY worse because of the rubberbanding and I turned it to easy to do them and I have no regrets
>I actually really enjoyed it once I knew all I had to do was get one single block inside their goal.
>If I had tried to do it the way the game explained it I would've an hero'd
It literally tells you it's faster to just bee line to the other teams spawn.
It's really not that bad.
How? You have to suffer from severe brain damage to not be able to beat it.
Nah, shit was easy as frick.
can't beat it
I just focused on speed and rushed to connect my blocks to the opponent's goal.
Give the other two robots attacker AI on the mid-level frame with hammers. They will spawncamp your enemy. Then you just go around the arena in the fast frame grabbing parts and placing a straight line to your opponent's side of the field instantly winning. Once you get to the end of the minigame you can swap one hammer boy for a speedy boy with the gathering AI and hammer boy will still spawncamp while speedy boy will do the work for you as you sit there waiting for it to collect blocks.
If you have the cheat DLC frame then equipping that to either it or you gives you the heavy frame stats on the speedy frame.
Whenever I see you homosexuals complain about minigames I have to wonder if you even played Yakuza 3.
That's not the underground catfight, whoever coded and made it should burn in the deepest pits of hell down from purgatory.
I left cat fights as the very last thing before the finale. I played it in a public location, late at night, far away from anyone else there.
This guy I knew from work came up and started to talk to me, and then got upset I was watching women beat each other up.
The worst part was that it was all RNG.
I'm so glad they changed his face, he looks so much better
>you can only eat one menu item at a time in Yakuza 3
oh my fricking god, I thought clearing out restaurants was tedious already but Jesus Christ, this is fricked. please tell me 4 or 5 lets you eat multiple items
>4
no
>5
Yes but you have to do some shit first. However, if your hp is capped, you can't.
Yakuza 5 does for sure. I don't know if 4 HD does, but the old trick of bait should work. Go buy a billion bait from the dock, eat it, and your HP will go down. Do that to eat as much as you want.
God, the writing in the two Judgement's so much better than the later Yakuza titles, simply because A) the MC isn't a social moron and B) the focus on law and justice means the writers can explore the flaws and limitations of the legal system. The conflict between Yagami and Kuwana is so much more nuanced than some of the completely forced conflicts in the later games. By Y5 we literally got to the stage of
>"I'm here to stop you and kick your ass"
>"No need, I had a change of heart all on my own and I will stop what I'm doing"
>"Well I'm already here, so I'm going to kick your ass anyway"
I know, it's refreshing and I actually felt super engaged in both judgments, I just hope they start work on J3 soon.
What happened with JOHNNY or whatever not allowing Sega to put Judgement on PC?
Leadership changed and then they were able to put it on PC
That said, odds of Judgement 3?
Very high. Lost Judgment got some decent DLC and there is no reason to think it won't continue. Just right now they are working on LAD Ishin, LADG:TMWEHN and LAD8, so probably after Ishin and TMWEHN are out, they should have the workforce to do J3.
Johnny died and went to molest little boys in Japanese Heaven so someone obviously cut them a deal.
I imagine the row was because Johnny's VASTLY overestimated how much Kimutaku's likeness matters here. The series seems to have sold well, but it's no normalgay series.
I think Kaito Files DLC was made in case they cannot get Yagami back.
Man, I fricking LOVED that DLC. Kaito's styles were fun as frick, the story was great and Yakuza-tier silly at times, and Kaito got the end Kiryu never did with a KINO last boss.
So good.
CEO changed. New CEO is younger and understand Video Games make bank, so allowed the port beyond Stillbornia.
I like both. Judgment is obviously a more serious space for the writers, and Yakuza is more 'haha twin brother CIA rubber bullets locker baby asspull city".
I personally prefer Judgment's tone with the stories and keeping the silly shit as always in side stories, but I can jam with either.
Also it's funny that you say that because a week or two ago there was an anon having a meltdown over Kuwana and Yagami "letting him go" and no matter how many people explained it to him, he simply could not grasp the main point of the game.
It really drove home why most game stories are written for morons.
It's easy to understand the point, it's just moronic and forced melodrama. Like most Yakuza stories.
kek yeah that was an amusing thread. Guy was an absolute moron.
You think they're trolling at first but then you realize they are so stubborn because they are dead serious.
Yakuza 8 better be big
Like you go to Brazil big lmao
Since Kiryu gets his own party in Y8 post your ideal party setup.

Why does the Dragon Engine Akiyama look fat
It's the hobo diet of convenience store bentos and booze given in exchange for information protagonists want.
Hana-chan doesn't steal his food anymore
Majima would be pretty busted if we follow the Y7 pattern, he would be akin to korean boy band guy. Fast, gets several turns, lots of bleed related attacks. Saejima would be useless because he's too slow. Akiyama might be good depending on his kit.
I dunno, they could speed Saejima up.
Kiryu would be Ichiban
Majima would be J-g as you say
Haruka would be Sae in Idol job (obviously)
Akiyama would be Zhao
Saejima would be Adachi
Daigo is Eri (right down to not being featured in cut-scenes and only recruitable in a business managment: "Kiryu-san, we need you to do Tojo bullshit. YET. AGAIN. Just now as a mini-game!")
where is there so much activity in the middle of the night in Seiryo High School in LJ?
I have only played 0 and refuse to play anything that takes place in the 00s or further. They should just reboot the franchise starting from 0 and keep it in the 80s and 90s
Yakuza 0 barely feels like it takes place before the 00s save for some overt shit like the dance clubs
Are there any big risks on the business management minigame on LaD or I'll be fine as long as my numbers are green and growing?
No, just don't be stupid with your character distribution for the buildings and it'll go fine. You can do it entirely with the characters just from the minigame itself, none of the substory ones or overworld ones are needed, they just make it easier. If you paid for the cheat DLC you can't really use them until at least two or three upgrades into it simply because you won't be able to afford their salaries.
They'd never do it until he's literally in his 80s, he's an emergency button.
I can't believe I've done this. I kinda don't want to go back and do Kiwami 2 or LAD. I played through Kiwami 1 on ps4 and I have no desire to replay it. I've also played through Judgement on ps4 and I don't feel like playing it again even though I like it. The only Yakuza game that I've replayed is 0.
>95% in Replicant
My homie. That's more than I'll ever get, frick farming a lunar tear.
The only 2 achievements that I have left are speedrunning the game and the one for getting all other achievements. I really like the game but I don't want to run through it even though I know I can do it easily.
You can easily do it in under 5 hours. Skip cutscenes, dodge-roll everywhere, mash through dialogue.
Here's the thing, anon. I just don't want to.
Fair enough.
Thanks for sharing. This site truly is your blog.

It's a fair pick.
A brilliantly acted character.
You're thinking Sagawa, not Shibusawa. Shibusawa wants nothing more than to kick Kazama to the curb because he's moronic.

I hate the typical subversion of expectations. Tbh they almost really made me believe that kyriu is dead but why bother with doing the same for the mama, it's just a waste of a good character arc. Tbh I would have appreaciated it if they actually did let kyriu die - hearing that he is in y7 and will most likely also feature in y8 is ridiculous. What else is there for him to give?
honestly he is not really 'in' 7. He shows up to pass the touch and 'approve' of the new MC and then he's out.
Which makes it moronic he is coming back but I am sure when I play it I'll be thinking "this is hype as frick"

OJISAN!!
Before playing 3, I really doubted it needing the Kiwami treatment since it was a late PS3 title.
Now being mostly done with, I can fully vouch for it needing the Kiwami trestment more than any Yakuza title ever - even more than 1 or 2. 3 is so irredeemably awful it's actually impressive. Its only saving grace is that the main story and substories still hold up. The combat is possibly the worst I've experienced in the action/brawler genre. I'm not even gonna do the coliseum for the first time ever, due to how criminally bad this game is.
Part of the problem is that the Remaster fricked up the gameplay and enemies block more than they should as well as your dodge being fricked up too.
I don't trust them with properly translating the combat and atmosphere of the game to the Dragon Engine. We don't need another Kiwami 2 type situation.
They've mastered the Dragon Engine in terms of combat now. Lost Judgment is excellent.
What the hell makes you think they're gonna give Y3 Lost Judgment combat? Kiryu isn't Yagami.
Kiryu is Kaito
RGGS will slap that moveset to a Kiwami 3 and call it a day, I don't want more shameless cashgrabs like K2.
Would you believe me if I told you Kenzan was actually even more of a mess on the combat side and that 3 actually improved on the combat by quite a bit? Would you also believe me if I told you it has no Tiger Drop style counters and two of the four styles are unusable?
it's weird considering 4 comes out just a year later

Why do people dislike K2 so much?
So far I played original 1,2, Y0, K1, about to play K2 and it's hard to see how could they frick it up after making two solid games.
Bad story
>Cut out Shinseicho.
>Cut out Club Adam which is called back to in multiple games (Replaced with Clan Creator).
>Cut out The Marietta which is in every single game after 2 (Replaced with Four Shine).
>Replaced YF6 with VF2 when YF6 was only found in 2 and VF2 is in at least one or two other games before K2 came out.
>Cut a lot of basic things out like unique substory locations for no real reason which means you see a lot more generic office buildings in substories than 2 had.
>It also cut small things like set dressing at the tattoo parlor or Ryuji's henchmen in Ryuji 1's fight watching the fight for no reason.
>Takashima's model swap to an actor that looks like he's in his late 50s or even 60s conflicts with his character's actions and motivations.
>The new music in both K1 and K2 is very hit or miss.
I personally dislike the electronic/synth/whateveritis type of music both of them have compared to the originals. It's like listening to some amateur cover by an up and coming 15 year old musician.
>The new licensed music doesn't fit at all and literally only works in the final bouncer mission. Ablakadabla doesn't work where they have it placed.
>The stab scene adds a comical "Shunk" sound and the music takes you out of the scene a bit.
>Majima Saga conflicts with what 5 already established about Majima and it's kind of rushed.
>The entire finale is ruined because of the Dragon Engine inventory system and added black market guy right before the final fight.
>People started with 0 so they're disappointed styles are gone because they expected that to be normal.
>People coming off of 6 basically got a mixed bag of upgrades and downgrades to combat, particularly when it came to combat having to load in.
>Majima Saga conflicts with what 5 already established about Majima and it's kind of rushed.
4 and 5's Majima backstory are inherently contradictory to what 0 and K2 try to add.
>Majima is supposedly the one who hid Sasai a few months after the hit, but with 0, this would've had to have happened concurrently with Majima being held and tortured for a year after his eye was gouged out
>Majima is more held up over a girl he knew for a couple days than the woman he married and had sex with
Modern Majima basically tosses out everything from that era aside from his relationship with Saejima.
One of the best parts of the original game IMO is the Kiryu joining a host club and raking in the money from rich young women. Kiwami 2 took that out completely
shenmue was better, yakuza is just a copycat

Fellas, does Lost Judgment run like shit on a PS4?
My PC can't really run it properly and it'll be a while until I can upgrade it.
Base PS4 and Pro are both fine, I don't recall any major drops being around. I know Nakamichi is still kind of iffy for base models but that's about it.
On base PS4 it runs obnoxiously bad. I dropped it because of that, on PC it runs like a dream.
It runs like ass, there's input delay, framedrops in some chapters like where you fight the claw guy in Ijincho, etc.
>there's input delay,
That's just the Dragon Engine, it's the same on the PS4 Pro and even on PC for the DE games where you have a delay on pressing a button to move and actually moving until you're in combat.
>framedrops in some chapters like where you fight the claw guy in Ijincho
I'll take your word for it. I watched framerate comparisons and Nakamichi seemed to be the only consistent area where it dropped.
I always loved how frickable Haruka looked in this game especially her lips
Some of her minigames where she starts panting made me horny.

I'm kind of afraid to start it because I pretty much forgot all about Y4.
I only vaguely remember things like the money, parts of Akiyamas story but anything related to Taiga, Kiryu and the other guy are much harder to remember.
I don't really care for all the mini game and incredibly long cutscene shit. The combat always seemed cool though. And LJ seems to be the best.
Is Lost judgement the same as the rest of the Yakuza series?
The same in what way? Its the same sort of genre yes with the same sort of combat and exploration. Lost Judgment has hands down the best combat flow in the series. The first Judgment has a better story though, but that one's limited to Kamurocho whereas Lost Judgment features the bigger Ijincho.
Here's a better question. Do I need to play other games before judgement and its sequel? I don't know if I want to feel obligated to play 8 or so games.
For Judgment? No.
For LJ? Absolutely, it spoils a big twist that is basically a long plot point stemming from 5 all the way to 7.
Judgment, no, outside of a few references it's standalone.
LJ is a direct sequel to 7 and spoils parts of the last third of its story which itself will make a lot of the journey of Yakuza have far less meaning when you spoil it since it ties in to the rest of the series.
You can play Judgment and Lost Judgment without prior knowledge. You just need to be aware that LJ spoils a certain event from Y7, but if you don't care, it doesn't matter.
Huge Yakuza fan, but really not in a mood for a samurai story. Especially if its all convoluted in factions hirarchy and shit
>Especially if its all convoluted in factions hirarchy and shit
It's not. There's one chapter dedicated to that and it's there for like five minutes before Ryoma goes drinking with them and gets them to stop it for the restof the chapter.
>Is Lost judgement the same as the rest of the Yakuza series?
Yes. Judgment as a series is just Yakuza with a slightly more civilian focus.
>he doesn't decorate his hometown in banners
I have played K1, K2, and 0. Is there going to be a K3 or should I just pick up the remastered collection?
K3 is coming in 2025
3 doesn't need a Kiwami moron
There will not be at least for the foreseeable future.
https://www.siliconera.com/yakuza-creator-bringing-3-4-5-remasters-overseas-theyre-kiwami-remakes/
>According to the Yakuza creator, Sega thought about doing Kiwami remakes for Yakuza 3, 4, 5 but he explains that going from a PS2 game to PS4 as a Kiwami remake leaves an impression with the big jump, however, he felt that the PS3 was still a good piece of hardware so the gap of going PS3 to PS4 would be a lot thinner and doesn’t leave as much of an impression compared to a jump from a PS2 game.
Keep in mind Nagoshi said that and then they Kiwami'd Ishin for zero reason at all.
And Ishin got Kiwami'd though
i agree. it came very late to the west digital only but it was the best game that year anyway. it has the best substories in any yakuza game, readable mangas and so much sidecontent its insane. i love it
Kiwami means extreme
I didn't enjoy the combat in Judgement at all. It's a lot better in Lost Judgement though.
Mods can fix it a lot if you're on PC.
Xbox sadly. My PC is too shitty.

garbage game for garbage people who legitimately like living in and eating trash much like their beloved trashman saejima
Can we at least all agree that Yakuza 4 is the worst one?
Not when Yakuza 5 exists
No, that would be 0. 4 was great at launch. On replay I found Akiyama to be a boring one-note guy with an extremely limited movest, and Saejima was a slog the first time around, so one second run while trying to complete most everything dragged the game down so much more.
That would be 3.
How the frick could 0 ever be considered the worst? It's got so much QoL and improvements over 3-5. You'd have to be a completely assblasted """"real fan"""" to think it's the worst since it's popular.
It's basically just a rehash of the police radio from 4 when you're playing as Tanimura. The only real things you get are an achievement and the ability to fight Amon after fighting Saigo and Sodachi a couple times.
>How the frick could 0 ever be considered the worst?
Because I enjoyed it less than 5, which was at the time an unimaginably low bar? I bought a PS4 when 0 came out here and it was so goddamn boring and clunky (both parts inherited from 5). I didn't even hear of 0 becoming popular in the west until many months later, think summer time, so popularity has nothing to do with me finding the game terribly unfun.
I guess you just have shit taste. If you truly played the other games, you'd know 0 is an improvement over 3-5 and it was a natural progression.
The way they used money in 0 is enough to rank it high in my book. What a cute reference to base systems in your video game off of. Immersive too, in a way. Who does that?
It running on the 5 engine makes it feel like crap by default. People complain about ragdolls and now Kiryu feels in 6, well I feel the movement is shit in 5 & 0. 3 & 4 felt so much more solid while running around and connecting with attacks. 0's pacing is trash, by the way. I distinctly remember legitimate story progress moments being interupted by shit like fricking catfights and style masters. Good god. In other Yakuza games you get directed towards those kinds of things while there's downtime, not in the goddamn moment.
The pacing isn't bad in 0 at all. That's 3. 3 has the worst pacing in the series. The style masters are done in a way where it's not in a part that's too heavy into the main story and where there is this "downtime". It's not really abrupt and it works where it's put.
I feel bad calling any yakuza game the "worst" one cause they're all pretty much on-par in terms of quality and the only real differences are the stories and cities
But if you put a gun to my head i'd say 3 and even then it's like a 7 in an average 8/10 franchise
Fricking dead souls is the worst
You’re all fricking newbies
>counting spinoffs
Frasier has the worst Cheers episodes.
Seeing as Judgment is the best Yakuza game, it's fair to say Dead Souls is the worst.
After playing Kiwami 2 I was really impressed with the improved graphics and systems.
I'll have to wait until 6 to get there again, right?
5 looks good. It's nearly on par with 0 and K1.
6'll be it, yeah. 6, K2, Judgment, 7, LJ, Gaiden, 8. That's all that's on DE right now.
6's substories are actually pretty solid all the way through. Snack Bar is especially really fun. Troublr was basically Tanimura's unique mechanic but with I'd say less random crimes and more focused ones.
>6's substories are actually pretty solid all the way through
Most of them are pretty boring and forgettable, and the voice acting pads them out by a lot. The only memorable one is the one where Kiryu gets conned into installing a murderous Siri, the rest I can't even remember. The snack bar was whatever.
Pirate Ghosts? Girl Who Leapt Through Time? Ono Michio-kun? Soji? Skynet? PCF? Sodachi? Saigo? Snake Flower Triad?
I thought they were very solid overall.
>Pirate Ghosts?
Are you kidding me? This is easily one of the more forgettable ones, you just fight these ghosts a few times and it's over
>Girl Who Leapt Through Time?
It was... alright I guess
>Ono Michio-kun?
Yeah it was great.
>Soji?
Don't even remember it
>Skynet?
I named it.
>PCF?
PCF had been completely overplayed at this point.
>Sodachi?
>Saigo?
How are you even counting these as substories? What the frick?
you didn't like the return of Suzuki and the Munan Chohept Onast?
No I didn't really care for 0 retreads, I suppose the Munan one was alright with the whole Suzuki redemption bit. It really just seems that for 6 they were just 0 wanking a bit too much instead of doing its own thing.
I barely did any of the substories in 6.
And what was the point of Troublr? I did two or three of them and they gave jack shit for rewards.
>And what was the point of Troublr?
a way to pad the completion list
Troublr is shit, those missions where you have to put out a fire were so damn bad.
What's wrong with Kiwami 1 and 2 anyways?
Kiwami 1 is fine, Kiwami 2 just carries the sins of 6's Dragon Engine.
Hmm, I agree with the dragon engine being dogshit, scared of what awaits me in 6 since I heard it also uses it
thanks lads
Some people dislike K1 because it's not as grounded as OG 1, particularly from a combat perspective.
K2 just has shitty combat, you're missing 90% of your moves so it all boils down to the exact same rhythm of throwing and charged attacks for every single encounter.
>Y3 security mob fight
Oh god, I am covered in my own vomit now. JUST when you think the game can't possibly get worse, the game, it digs real deep and finds an extra nugget from its deep cavernous ass.
Never should'a left Okinawa, never should'a played this game.
Is the Majima Saga in K2 canon? It feels so rushed and tacked-on.
Debatable only because of one thing, otherwise it has no contradictions outside of that one thing and falls in line with 2 perfectly fine. Majima's meeting with Makoto implies he was still obsessed with her like 20 years later when 5 specifically implied through Park and Majima's letter that Majima only had eyes for Park and was constantly thinking about her specifically. You could argue Majima never forgot about Makoto which is fine but the fact he remembers the exact watch band, the exact size of it, and was still longing for Makoto goes against how much he was implied to care more about Park than her. However, it begs the question why he never met up with a younger Katsuya in it considering he stopped by everyone else he knew.
K1's PCF and Munan Chohept can't be canon at all because of 6 but everything else is fine.
The Amons from 0, K1, and K2 can't be canon because they don't fit in with 3 onward and directly contradict 1 (Which 3's entire motivation carries off of). K1 and K2's Jo acts nothing like 3's Jo in the slightest.
>you just fight these ghosts a few times and it's over
It was a funny substory that came out of the blue.
>Don't even remember it
Either you had to chase after the Soji or it sucked up the engagement ring a guy was going to give and escaped his house, I forgot which it was.
>How are you even counting these as substories?
Because they are substories and they're somewhat comedic? They're also considered substories and unlock Amon? They're not long, sure, but they're a slight bit more than Ishin's friendship introduction substories so I'd consider them normal substories.
Saigo and Sodachi felt awful, like they had planned to have some sort of trainer but they couldn't and just slapped those two as punching bags for EXP and a bit of dialogue.
I can definitely agree with that, I'm just saying that taken in a vacuum I'm not really offended by their substories and found it okay. The fact that they're bootleg trainers for Kiryu when he never met them at all is dumb.
Technically you can meet Saigo as Kiryu on the rooftops in 4 but all he does is give life pro tips to an npc iirc and I think Kiryu meets Sodachi in the coliseum in 4 too to give him tag team partners
You're right, I completely forgot that about 4. Sodachi is the only one that doesn't feel like he needs to be there then. Still, it would have made sense to bring Sosuke back.
Yeah, the name switches to the correct names only happened at 0 because they had Sunshine (The club) which they thought would confuse people when they got to Sunshine aka Morning Glory (The orphanage) in 3. I honestly can't remember if 5 ever mentioned Morning Glory so it might have changed there but it's been a while and I don't remember the lines down to the nitty gritty like that.
The only games with English dubs are PS2 1, FotNS, Judgment, 7, and Lost Judgment.
The Rizap boss should have been the guy from the commercials who squeezes a lemon for some reason
>considering he stopped by everyone else he knew.
He just kinda runs into them purely by coincidence, it drove me fricking insane. "The odyssey is gone but we coincidentally ran into the manager" Just say the Odyssey is still there, what difference does it make?
Him running into Makoto drove me fricking insane. I 100% get what they were going for but the fact that they can't even have two lines of dialogue in a straight-faced, adult manner is nonsensical. It's such a roundabout way of trying to provide a resolution that it's almost absurd.
Why do so many people say the dragon engine ruined the games but also at the same time cite judgement as great and it's sequel having the best combat?
6 and Kiwami 2 were the first 2 games to use the Dragon Engine and they didn't quite have the combat down yet. Judgement improved a lot on it and Lost Judgement has really improved on it. The overall look and the ability to go into buildings without loading screens is great. However, a lot of people don't like the ragdolls and how "floaty" the combat feels in 6 and K2. Plus, there's also the way they decided to have abilities unlock in 6 and K2 being "worse" than previous entries in the series.
Because the dragon engine was rough, 6 and K2 are constantly cited as some of the lowest points of the franchise. Judgment patched up a ton of stuff and made it much bearable, but a ton of the issues like comical ragdolling, block bouncing, etc still persist. Lost Judgment almost completely nailed it however.
it took them until Lost Judgment to finally make Dragon Engine great
Because 6 and K2 were massive leaps down in gameplay development and combat after having 5, Ishin, and 0 (and K1) to experience. Hits didn't feel hefty at all despite that being one focal point of the engine switch, movement outside of combat was and still is filled with input delay like RDR2 has so it feels like you're controlling a laggy walking sack of potatoes, a lot of people don't like ragdolls because it forces them to chase after people (I don't mind it at all) and it's even worse on PC because no one on PC is going to limit their game to 30 FPS, and it made grabbing enemies far more annoying because your spin would get interrupted by walls instantly dropping the enemy instead of dealing the full damage.
Then there was the horrendous performance on 6 which was like mid 10s with screen tearing and took them months of patches to iron out. Even with all the patches base PS4s still have trouble with 6 running at the 25ish mark while PS4 Pros sometimes have framerate drops in the cutscenes, and both versions have massive framerate issues at the cat cafe (Unless that was just Judgment but I seem to remember it being a problem in 6 too). K2 slightly improved upon it for base PS4s but it still dropped into the low 20s all the time. When Judgment came out you had the game running even worse than K2 on base PS4s and the game crawls to a halt when you go near the Cat Cafe or Amon's fight.
It took them until JE:R and 7 to iron out the actual performance issues, and even then JE:R has framepacing issues because of the 60 FPS. Even with Kenzan they already had a really solid base to work from, they just had balancing issues in gameplay holding them up. Then when 5 came out it only had drops during the dream stuff and ran fine otherwise. Yeah, if you played Ishin, 0, or K1 on a PS3 you were in for a nightmare of a time but on a PS4 they were fine with Ishin being the only one to have minor performance issues.
It's definitely better now.
This, but replacing YAKUZA 5 with the original Yakuza 2.
Yakuza 2 felt pretty good to play, not gonna lie.
Do I need to use a translation patch on Japanese versions or can I select Japanese audio on the English releases of the first two games?
For PS2 1 you need the undub and retranslation patch.
PS2 2 never had a dub but you're gonna be using the original translation which changes names so Florist = Kage and Kazama = Fuma.
Oh, only the first one got a dub?
I'm almost interested in it because Mark Hamill as Majima has me curious. Almost.
I can handle translation differences. They were still calling the orphanage Sunflower in 5 weren't they?
>which changes names so Florist = Kage and Kazama = Fuma
Shit, I forgot about that crap. What are the odds 2 gets even a minimal re-translation patch?
3/6 - GOOD
5/0 - BAD
why are all of moose's posts tl;dr?
>why are all of moose's posts tl;dr?
because he's obsessed and plays nothing but yakuza games. also since he's a moose he's clearly a furry. all the more reason for you to get your ass in gear and filter him already.
>tripgay
There's your answer.
>letting a tripgay go unfiltered
Are you new?
80s were neat.
There's a looping song snippet that you can hear when you're outside of some clubs in 0 that was really catchy but I can't find it uploaded anywhere.
You can hear it constantly while Kiryu is talking to the Dominatrix outside the S&M club.
It's probably just a loop made as background noise but it wormed into my head and I really wish I had a clear recording of it.
Have you tried checking the unreleased OSTs uploaded to Youtube?
They typically upload all the shop music and unreleased battle music.
Yeah, I found that. It's not in there.
one of my favs for sure. if it wasnt for like a dragon's release
Why do people suck 5's dick so much?
Because it's easy to see how it's the most ambitious RGG title.
Being ambitious is pointless when you don't have the capacity to fulfill said ambition. At best it gets an "at least you tried" medal.
It fulfilled its ambition.
Was its ambition being shit?
Their first Yakuza game
Contrarianism
Nah, those are the homosexuals saying Yakuza 3 had a good plot
3 had a good idea, even if the execution was boring as hell. 5 was just "remember how 4 was about 4 guys? Well, let's go bigger! 5 characters! 5 cities! 5 5 5!!" and it was shit.
It's the San Andreas of the Yakuza franchise.
Probably because they think lot of content = good game. 5 is an extremely overpadded game, with very little focus in anything but cramming as much stuff into it as possible, the story suffers as a result, the combat suffers as a result, and basically everything except the minigames do. That's precisely why they never returned to having that many protagonists and made 0 a much more focused, 2 man game. Because 5 was experimental in its frickhuge design.
Y5 was an expansion of the concept introduced in Y4 and Yakuza Dead Souls and succeeded in topping those prior iterations.
Not really, Y4 had a more interesting story and combat system and benefitted from taking place in one city since it got expanded a lot. 5's combat is a disaster, Kiryu is an unbalanced mess, Shinada legitimately sucks balls, Akiyama has a ton of heat actions that get in the way and shit and barely has any content, etc.
Yakuza 4 crammed 4 characters into one single setting. Yakuza 5 gave each character time to breathe in their own environment, while keeping the player interested with new locales, instead of relying on the tired old Kamurocho.
>but muh underground hobos and rooftop exploration
Still tired old Kamurocho for 95% of the map in 4.
>Yakuza 5 gave each character time to breathe in their own environment
You forget that Tsukimino is full of invisible walls, Nagoya is extremely tiny and with very little to do on it other than chicken race, and Nagasugai suffers the same fate. Having too many cities to move around just means less focus on having a big hub to explore.
>game reviewers gave it a good score so it must be good!
It helped me cope with my father's death so I have a strong personal connection to it but other than that it's just a highly ambitious game with a shitload of content and all of the minigames are pretty well-executed. The story and pacing is inconsistent but people who value gameplay more than story are likely willing to forgive that.
It also has the best boy
You can tell the og Yakuza team mostly left after 3. 4 was a shitty reskin, 5 was their first crack at their own game and it was garbage with broken combat.
>Y5
>broken combat
You what, mate? I've heard many things in my time, but never that.
Do a heat action and you get hit right as the cutscene ends with 0 chance to react cause the combat is fundamentally broken. Kiryu and Saejima have literal god mode to mask the broken combat
>Kiryu and Saejima have literal god mode
In Kiryu's case it barely functions at all, you're much better off just spamming bounding throws ad nauseam or tiger dropping. 5 has the worst amon in the whole franchise.
I PRIDE MYSELF ON FILTERING INSECURE BOYS
>only game in the franchise with a female MC
>the fandom divided
Huh.
Haruka was a mistake. Notice how the games that don't feature her heavily in the main story are the good games?
OJI---SAAAAAN!!!!!
>yakuza 0
haruka wasn't born yet, based
>yakuza 1
jingu didn't kill haruka, cringe
>yakuza 2
haruka didn't get eaten by tigers, cringe
>yakuza 3
mine b***h slapped haruka, based
>yakuza 4
saejima almost gave haruka rape correction, based
>yakuza 5
cringe
>yakuza 6
haruka was in a coma for most of the game, based
>yakuza 7
no haruka, based
Haruka should've stayed an off screen side character that takes care of the orphanage in Okinawa. Maybe bring her back after a few games. But 3 happened.
Been saying that for years, Haruka is the worst part of the games no matter how much the troony pedos like her
Haruka's portion of Y5 was dogshit, and anyone claiming otherwise got stockholm syndrome'd by having to listen to So Much More 50000 times.
So you admit it's a fantastic song.
No. Shouldn't you be telling everyone that your Oji-san is a Yakuza and throwing away your idol career in front of an audience of millions?
Fandom is divided for every single game in the series except for 1 which everyone agrees is the worst one aside from contrarian posters who love it for some reason
It's because that one literal who made a video on how atmospheric it was and so every single leech without a personality latched on to it. 2 is way better than the shitty Kiwami though I'll consneed.
Nobody really shits on 2 though. People shit on Kiwami 2 but for reasons unrelated to the original story and content.
2's story is pretty shit. The secret Koreans plot twists are ass.
Nobody can actually explain why secret koreans is a bad twist aside from just stating its very nature as a twist
This seems to be a recurring theme in Yakuza discussion
It's bad for the same reason Yakuza 4 backstabs are bad
Because it's completely ridiculous assuming we're talking about the body double thing.
You're telling me the Korean mafia and only the Korean mafia has people that are close enough to people of an entirely other culture and bodily makeup that are able to perfect the appearance of a person through plastic surgery to such a degree that their closest friends don't notice? You're also telling me that these copies who have lived in Korea seemingly their entire lives until their assignment are able to perfect the accent of their target and pass just enough to spend seemingly an indefinite amount of time as their target without anyone noticing them acting off even by studying them?
Why would the Jingweon have a guy who is able to mimic Kazuki specifically on retainer? I know they implied they were planning it for years but it's insane to go through with this plan and have disposable people just for this. What is not-Kazuki supposed to do when he "wins"? Run Stardust? Go back to Korea as Kazuki? What happens when Yuya or literally anyone else notices he's not Kazuki?
This gets even more absurd when it's brought up in 7 because they implied they also do this to people against their will and do this regularly like with Kim and Kim was just forced to be Han's body double until he befriended Han and decided to stick with it. So the Jingweon have constant Korean body doubles when they need them to go to hot zones or are willing to mutilate themselves permanently for one specific op?
>Why would the Jingweon have a guy who is able to mimic Kazuki specifically on retainer?
The Jingweon are a gang of fantastical psychopaths so this didn't raise an eyebrow for me until Kazuki mentioned he'd been gone for SIX FRICKING MONTHS
I just find it to be way too specific of a niche, especially when it requires so much investigative work, surgery, memorization, and potentially years of training to go against your own country's culture programmed into you since you were a kid to body snatch and replace a random club owner for fairly small goals. With Kim being turned into Han's it makes it sound like they do this fairly frivolously too because Han was just some random guy in the organization based on Kim's retelling.
i also couldn't take the ending seriously with Kiryu and Sayama making out besides Ryuji's corpse
Haruka was such a juicy cumdump in this game
Yakuza 5 is the best game in the entire franchise and no amount of contrarian shitposting will change that
Yakuza 5 is the worst game in the entire franchise and no amount of contrarian shitposting will change that
Imagine running an orphanage named Morning Glory
>all the people who think haruka should be relegated to the role of unimportant side NPC
>in a franchise literally about fatherhood and found family
You can smell the 0 secondaryism from a fricking mile away
She's a plot device for Kiryu to get angry when something threatens her and that's all. She keeps Kiryu from doing anything cool for 4 games, forces him to retire from public life at least twice, and overall holds the series back. Having her relegate Akiyama to a secondary character for a fricking music rhythm minigame was the cherry on top. She's only good in 1 and 6.
reductive is a fricking understatement
