>'English Voice' Kiryu >Not even using the original English dub VA of og Yakuza 1
What kind of blasphemous shit is this? Didn't the original English VA Darryl came back in Y:LaD? Why the change?
>Why the change?
He's asian while the PS2 guy was white. in the time between games, there's been an annoying push in the western va industry that the race of the VA must match the character.
>there's been an annoying push in the western va industry that the race of the VA must match the character.
They don't have to match the race, as long as it's not a white VA voicing a non-white character.
Ok, I'll cry at that, and you cry about white people voicing asian characters, deal?

no. I don't care what race the VA is, and neither should game studios. The problem is that it's something people are acting like is a big deal, yet they can't even be consistent with it.

Wasnt that the issue with re4 remake? That Ada was recasted because the actress was asian but she was both a shitty real life actress and VA too and her only defense was that her race should be more important than her talent?

Not exactly. The issue I'm talking about is more the double standard that comes with the desire for "proper representation" there's multiple problems that currently exist that just invalidate the whole reason this has been getting pushed. Demanding we cast based on the culture represented, only for them to not actually do that and cast someone who is close enough in color(like casting a Chinese or Korean man to play a Japanese man, you're not actually representing Asians properly if you think they're all interchangeable). And theres the other side of claiming that they have to start doing this, but then somehow being fine when they don't do it but the actor is still a minority like a black man or a trans person. At the end of the day, the attempts to be diverse, while not only at times leading to WORSE performances, also just ends up not even being done properly so you're left wondering why even bother? I don't even mind the idea of diversity in voice acting because if the guy is good, who cares, i just hate how inconsistent the mindset is.
doesn't matter, most Americans don't care as long as they're yellow. not even the first time they've recasted someone to be more culturally accurate only to hire the wrong nationality. The Bleach dub replaced the english voice for Chad(a Mexican character) with a Cuban guy and people praised them for latino representation.
fricking amazing
god I fricking hate this stupid VA race discourse that popped out of nowhere, no one gave a shit because it isn't a problem, but as soon as someone acted like it was all the internet shitheads latched onto it.
>Choosing "parroting top comment of gaming subleddit" guy as the lead VA for your game
Another evidence that the series is dead when they start to cater to westoids.
>Yakuza 2 is all about secret koreans >Yongyea is venezuelan immigrant with korean parents >Voices kiryu >Kiryu is now a secret korean
Kawara was right, they should have kill all koreans
Yakuza keeps getting worse and worse. The downhill started with the english dubs after years of the devs saying that the appeal of Yakuza was the authentic Japanese experience (they were right).
epic. now give me a second while i get this DONG OUT.... of ur mom hehhehe
New english voice actor? What happened to the previous one?
Not that it affect me, I play with jp voices
Has Yakuza even had dubs since the first game?
Yakuza (7): Like a Dragon features English dub. It was just okay, to say the least.

Can you post some examples?
Persona 3's new cast. People cry foul at white people voicing brown skinned characters, but apparently nobody cares when black men voice japanese guys
Oh that's right, I forgot about that one.

They are appealing to e-celebs now. This is how the series chooses to die out.
>second generation sounding asiatic
>Korean playing Japanese
They just see slanty eyes and clap don't they.

Honestly glad I dropped the series after 7
it’s still so funny that the english rgg account changed their picture for gay month but the jap account didn’t

Every time I see new news about this franchise, it further vindicates my decision to drop it.

so why is sega western marketing division so obsessed with literally who youtubers
they genuinely believe it makes the games sell more, western moronation at it again
If you play these games with the english voice acting on I only have to assume you're too stupid to take the time to read.
it's over
